Totally agree about Amazon needing to look at the way reviews are made. They should be much more closely monitored. My biggest bug bear is spoilers. Countless times I have seen where readers have given away plot lines or too much intricate detail. A synopsis not always being a synopsis, a few more words and it's a book. One reviewer actually gave away who the murderer was!!! Unbelievable! Can't imagine what the author must have felt. The reality now is that I try not to read too many reviews, because I don't actually know if I'm reading a review from a genuine reader, a disgruntled author or an ambitious reviewer.
Wow, I missed a lot today. Went to Minneapolis to see the Twins play the Texas Rangers. Loved all the comments regarding the Q&As. We are so privileged to have access to these authors, famous or just starting out, and we need to take advantage of these. I like the ideas thrown out there today by Lorrea, Cynthia, Kristy, Janet, Lavada and others. Thanks to Kristy and Cynthia for author perspectives. I hope both groups, the authors and the readers, can continue to come up with ideas and work together to make the Q&As work. Would like to invite ALL members of A Good Thriller, all 800-900 of you guys to chip in with opinions, ideas, other comments about how to make BOTM group reads, Q&As, and any other aspect of our reading group better for all of us. As I told Sean a couple of weeks ago, A Good Thriller has elevated my quality of life, no kidding, and what a wonderful thing if we could make it even better! (I just reread this. I sound like a cheerleader, but at least the cheers are sincere--LOL!)MN Chris

Anything for you, Sean, even though you stiffed me with the cookies.

Christine, you are such a positive supporter of everyone and of this group. Thanks for being here and don't hesitate to let me know if there is anything specific that I can do to help. You know how to reach me. :)I will keep in mind what you've said about BOTM and Q&A. I do like to participate in these, it just didn't work out for me this month.
Hey guys! Just wanted to let you know that I have a friend who does an online radio show on blogtalkradio called Charred Remains and on June 7th, she is having an authors promote yourself show where authors can come on and promote their work by reading an excerpt of their book, where others can find it and more. If anyone is interested in coming onto the show, please contact Ms. Char Hardin at the official Charred Remains radio show facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/CharredRemain... . Thanks! :)

FYI: A Good Thriller is under construction. I've heard the suggestions and I'm making a few new topics and folders. So if you're looking for a particular discussion it may have moved. I'll send out a group message when all is updated!!

Sean, as far as I am aware, this was a long time back!
Re Amazon and GR reviews, from. An author perspective, I like to have reviews on both. GR is a community and is fantastic for building word of mouth whereas Amazon is the point of sale and hence reviews there are equally preferred. Re GR and Amazon integration, I will not be surprised if it becomes easier to post reviews simultaneously at both places.

So I totally geeked out today and decided I wanted to rent The Hobbit. But then I wanted to see the second one too. So now I have about what 5 or 6 hours of movie time ahead of me tonight? What was I thinking?

I refused to watch the Harry Potter movies until the complete boxset was out. Watched all eight movies in three days whilst the kids were away!!
Harry Potter is pretty good. the books are good too but my fave was book 4. :)my mom sister and I had all read the books and seen the films.
Hey there, has anyone read Ben Kane's historical fiction books, if you haven't then may I suggest you give them a go, he's rather good IMHO.

Chris, start with The Forgotten Legion, it's the first of a trilogy, then his books on Spartacus and Hannibal. Wilbur Smith has stated that Ben is the rising star of historical fiction :-)
