Freda, just go with it and enjoy the reading break. There is more to life than padding the READ list and making a reading challenge. Then when you get rhe itch to read again, it will be that much sweeter. Now, take advantage of the situation and go clean those bathrooms!

Titas, we used to call it "wet blanket" weather when I was growing up in Tennessee. No AC either. Try going to bed with a wet towel over you. It helps.
I bought this book - The Mark
a few days ago. I had never read any books by Jason Pinter before but I am loving it by all means!! Have any of you here read his books?
Hi guys!
July threads for PIFM have now been posted.
Why don't you give it a go if you haven't before. It's a fun way of tackling those long TBR lists. Just ask those that take part already!! :)

I'm out cutting the grass before the big rain comes. Then I need to get on with the job of revamping my website. On top of writing, I'm still spring cleaning. I hope everyone else is doing okay and can enjoy the day.

I'm so envious of you, and yet so happy you get to play your favorite game. Did you win? I'm guessing you did:)
You won't believe what I just saw. While I was finishing up my lawn work, I hear this loud swarming noise. I look up and there's a swarm of insects going in a circle across the neighborhood. It's like right out of the Ten Commandments. I've never seen anything like it. Of course, no one else was around to witness it.

doesn't seem a problem.

That's what it reminded me of, Pat. They flew in unison, I was scared. You only see that in the movies!
I've just heard on morning TV that The Martian is being made into a movie starring Matt Damon, and it will be out in November (in the UK). It should be a good one to watch as the book is excellent and it will be interesting to see how it translates on screen.:)
David wrote: "I really enjoyed the Martian too. Can't really see it working on screen, but I hope it does."It will certainly be interesting to see how they adapt it.
David wrote: "I suspect quite a bit of rewriting will be necessary."Definitely, I can see how some of the scenes might seem repetitive otherwise, especially as they'll probably remove a lot of the science detail to give it mass appeal. I think they'll maybe cut some of the scenes.
It's always interesting to see how a book translates onto the screen and I think this one will be particularly interesting. :)

Wow, it looks great. When will the film come out in the US?

November 25. Looks like a movie I'll have to see in the theater instead of waiting for the DVD!

Yes, me too. It looks as though we'll be getting it at the same time in the UK. :)
hmmm have to say am wary of the book into movie thing especially if its a book I have really enjoyed. me and Hollywood have a big difference of casting opinions
Sean wrote: "HeatherThe Martian, is made and coming out very shortly."
Yes, November I believe. I'm looking forward to it. :)
Sharon wrote: "hmmm have to say am wary of the book into movie thing especially if its a book I have really enjoyed. me and Hollywood have a big difference of casting opinions"I'm not a big film lover - I prefer books. A film has to be something special to grab my attention but if I've read the book it gives it an added interest for me. :)
The director is Ridley Scott, who is past his peak, IMHO. He disappointed many of his fans big time with Prometheus. He is still good with visuals though? The Martian(which I too have not yet read), the way it has been written, can lend itself to a thorough rewrite. Ridley Scott's best films arguably are Alien and Blade Runner. I'll wait for the DVD.
Maybe the film will help me visualize some of the technical parts of the book I didn't understand. Matt Damon is a great choice for the astronaut.
Matt Damon can handle the funny side of the role. He is the scifi directors' first choice for their movies...The Zero Theorem, Elysium, Interstellar, Chappie, and now The Martian. His Happy Feet and We Bought A Zoo days are behind him it seems.
