Clotted cream with jam on scones is delicious! I get why it sounds a bit disgusting though lol. If you like cream, you'll love it.

All this talk of clotted cream is making my tongue itch!!!!! It sounds gross......especially when Christine mentioned it being lumpy. My gag reflex kicked in.Someday I will also learn the art of eating scones. I love angel soft buttery bisquits. To me, scones seem to be dense chunks of dough. I guess I should make them sometime. OH THOUGHT.........whoever is baking these lumps....er.........delicacies........would you pls post a recipe in our cooking section? Then we can make them and decide for ourselves. TIA.
I was cracking up over the comments about my hooking camp. I've gone a few times to a Dude Ranch in Texas. So fun. 5 or so teachers are brought in and we colorplan and hook rugs. It is literally like painting with pieces of wool. It's a divine craft........a real artform........and no, not latch hooking. Thank you for the kind compliment Sue. I do love to hook..........it is really a zen hobby..........now if I can just teach David how to hook.
I apologize at not being present.......and not commenting........but I am trying to pack. I tackled the library and the hooking room..........and will continue these two rooms today. My poor pups have no clue as to whats going on. they have never been thru a move before. The parrot is a trouper......but in the dead of summer, we will have to keep everyone cool.
Onto the Pet Section........I have a question.

well I didn't have the scone :) I had a chip roll for lunch instead :( however I am at crossfit tonight :) although I am seriously hoping for upper body workout tonight cos after 350 squats last night my legs are goosed! :(
Marian wrote: "Sue wrote: "Okay Ter'e. I will post my recipe today on the cooking site."There's a cooking site Sue?"
Yes Marian, under this group...under Food & Drink...under Our Thrilling Cooks.
I have posted recipes under this site before and will go and post my recipe for scones now.
Sharon wrote: "well I didn't have the scone :) I had a chip roll for lunch instead :( however I am at crossfit tonight :) although I am seriously hoping for upper body workout tonight cos after 350 squats last ni..."350 squats..........I should do squats when I am reading GR........in between packing boxes.
Yeh, right. LOL
Marian wrote: "Sue wrote: "Okay Ter'e. I will post my recipe today on the cooking site."There's a cooking site Sue?"
I could never find it, Maria, but Sue has many recipes.
Sue wrote: "Just posted my recipe for Raisin Scones under...Food & Drinks...Our Thrilling Cooks."great
Ter'e wrote: "Sharon wrote: "well I didn't have the scone :) I had a chip roll for lunch instead :( however I am at crossfit tonight :) although I am seriously hoping for upper body workout tonight cos after 350..."LOL packing is a work out in itself - to be fair I didn't do 350 all at one go it was split into 100 120 and 150 but I didn't manage all 150 I had to take a couple of rests
Ter'e, what is a chip roll? Is it healthy? I've burned out of hard, pump-you-up exercises, but I will eat healthy.
it was me that posted about the chip roll its definitely not healthy lol other countries call them fries I guess and I had them on a bread roll (bun, bap, whatever others call it lol am no sure what else they get called to be fair)and I worked it off - 27.5kg for strength in back of head shoulder press then a sweaty wod that i completed in 14.36 and not a squat in sight woohoo lol
:( we all have times like that especially if we are feeling a bit poorly. hope you are feeling better now xx
Thanks, Sharon, think I'm turning the corner. I think you're right, everything seems worse when feeling ill and down. I appreciate the sentiment x :)
its nearly the weekend so that should help too :D :D my friend won tickets to a rugby match tomorrow night
yup :) pro12 semi final play off between Glasgow and Ulster should b good. Glasgow won last weekend so will need to see how Ulster come back
Sharon wrote: "it was me that posted about the chip roll its definitely not healthy lol other countries call them fries I guess and I had them on a bread roll (bun, bap, whatever others call it lol am no sure wha..."So, in your country you eat French Fries, which is what we call them here in the US, on buns? I've never heard of that, but would like to try it:)
I'm glad you're getting better, Janet.
Groovy wrote: "Sharon wrote: "it was me that posted about the chip roll its definitely not healthy lol other countries call them fries I guess and I had them on a bread roll (bun, bap, whatever others call it lol..."XO, Janet.
@Sharon, fried taters on a bun?? You have got to be kidding. Talk about a carb bomb... Are you sure a chip roll refers to fried potatoes? What a strange name. Sorry, but this is all so fascinating to me.
Sue wrote: "Marian wrote: "Sue wrote: "Okay Ter'e. I will post my recipe today on the cooking site."There's a cooking site Sue?"
Yes Marian, under this group...under Food & Drink...under Our Thrilling Cook..."
The things I am learning. Didn't know we had food on here and thanks Sue for sharing recipes.
Sharon wrote: "it was me that posted about the chip roll its definitely not healthy lol other countries call them fries I guess and I had them on a bread roll (bun, bap, whatever others call it lol am no sure wha..."Chip butties - definitely not healthy, but OMG they are divine!
Will be checking out your scone recipe Sue. I love scones with jam and cream, but I am not much good at making them....the army could use them as weapons! 8:D
Sandy *The world could end while I was reading and I would never notice* wrote: "Sharon wrote: "it was me that posted about the chip roll its definitely not healthy lol other countries call them fries I guess and I had them on a bread roll (bun, bap, whatever others call it lol..."These scones are idiot-proof, Sandy. If the dough doesn't stick together sprinkle water on it. Take a hunk of it at a time. Just like "silly putty.". I used a plastic glove, and just pressed the thickness with my hand. Don't need a rolling pin. Good luck!
Sue wrote: "Sandy *The world could end while I was reading and I would never notice* wrote: "Sharon wrote: "it was me that posted about the chip roll its definitely not healthy lol other countries call them fr..."Thanks Sue...will try the recipe out on the weekend if I get a chance. Will report back. 8:D My mother was an excellent scone make. Didn't inherit her skills (or her nice legs!)
Sandy I was never good at making scones either, my dad always used to say, don't drive over a bridge after eating one of Jenni's scones, but I do make a good coconut lime drizzle cake :)
Oh Jenni. Sounds good. Love to know your recipe when you get a chance. I always have so much company.
Okay Sue, the cake part is the easy part, but first, I am lactose intolerant, so I will give my recipe with the dairy equivalent beside. All the following ingredients can be thrown in a mixing bowl you would normally make a cake in. I usually mix in stages with a wooden spoon and add flour last, then give a good whisk with a hand held electric beater, but you can put in a mixmaster if you prefer.
125g coconut oil (or 125g melted butter)
3/4 cup coconut milk (same for dairy milk)
3eggs
1 & 1/4 cup of white sugar
1 & 1/4 desiccated coconut
1 & 1/2 cups self-raising flour
Mix well, and pour ingredients into a greased and floured springform cake pan, mix might seem a little sloppy to what you are used to. Bake 40 -50min at 170-180deg in a fan forced oven, or until a skewer inserted into the centre comes out clean.
While cake is cooking we make lime syrup (this is the time consuming part)
3 limes rind finely shredded, & juiced
1/2 cup white sugar
Put all ingredients in saucepan and stir over medium heat, and bring to boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer for approx 5 min or until becomes syrupy, then remove from heat.
Pour over hot cook cake when removed from oven, why still in cake pan and allow to cool before releasing sides of pan. This really yummy served warm, with ice-cream or cream, which I have the non-dairy kind, my substitute cream is yoghurt made from coconut, it doesn't have the tang like soy yoghurt, or what I believe dairy yoghurt has, I've served this to devout dairy eaters, and they have loved it.
Also, cake will still taste great if you don't have time to do the lime syrup, sprinkle the top of the cake batter with extra shredded or desiccated coconut before putting it in the oven. I've done this many times when I'm pressed for time, and Max and the kids still love it!
Also, if you are not in to a real tangy syrup, substitute some lime for water, and add a little extra sugar
Just wanted to pass this message I just had from Brian Freeman.

HAHAHAHAHA!!!!! I adore the look on that bubblehead's face!
OK, DA, can you answer my questions? Sharon? Sandy? Heather? Anybody? Where is Jaaaaaaaanet?????????
No, biscuits are little thingies ( bread thingies) that are usually served with breakfast; they are delicately layered and yummy with butter.Crackers a crunchy and small, not bready.
David wrote: "If biscuits in the US are for having cheese on, we call them crackers or water biscuits."Water Biscuits? "Water" biscuits? WATER? That is confusing David.
Wat R Biscuits?
