When you have a Huge List of Books to Read...

When you have a big list of books you want to read how do you choose which one to start with?

I have so many books that I'd love to read, but between a review group I'm apart of and my own writing, I feel like I never get enough books read.

Very good question!

For me, I'm usually in one of two mindsets when I finish a book. Either I want to read something similar, or I want to read something completely different. Depending on which way I feel will determine what I look for in the next book I read. Getting a recommendation from someone whose tastes I know are similar to mine can also be a big factor.

Or sometimes I just scroll up and down my TBR list with my eyes shut and choose the one that's at the top when I open them again. It's a slightly less scientific method. ;)

I have a lot of review copies, I try and read whatever will be published next. Or what I received first. But sometimes I just CAN'T decide.

I created a Facebook group called Robot Review Club. https://www.facebook.com/groups/67143... I was a part of a different review group forever, and their list was miles and miles long for an author to be put on. So, I created my own!! It's been a ton of fun, and I love doing games, meet and greets, and little chats on there. It's not a huge group yet (which is rather nice) but it helps me focus on helping my indie friends out! I've read some amazing stuff on there!!

I think I might do the close my eyes and point sometimes!! I do sometimes grab one according to if I want an "easy" read or a "crazy detailed" read.

Sometimes I'm just looking for a quick read, and I always have a ton to choose from. I review for RomanceJunkies.com and get a bunch of books from Netgalley. I continuously find amazing books. I find that I like a lot of books by indie authors.

I've found some down right AMAZING indies!! And, I've read some pretty terrible writing. I don't usually finish out the terrible ones...lol. I've pushed through a few to review, but I try to only review what I really loved.

I find that being an issue when you agree to read and review. Sometimes you're stuck with something that you don't like.
But I have some books by some established authors that I absolutely hate. I'm willing to give almost anything a chance though.

If I finished a book in a series, I'll sometimes start the next one, if not, it's whatever's on my shelf that grabs my interest in that moment.

I choose whatever's in one of my TBR mountains that grabs my interest at the moment.

Yeah, I do the same. Sometimes I want to read a book that'll challenge me, but other times (more often than not, if I'm honest) I just want a bit of undemanding escapism. ;)

I review for several sites and participate in several groups here, so I alternate between books I have to review and those I don't (group reads, challenges, possible TOB contenders). I read the "to be reviewed" books in archive date order or in the order I received them, depending on the site. When choosing which "no review needed" book I read next, I try to read the group reads as the discussions are going on and choose from the other categories based on whether I own the book and what just seems appealing at the moment.

I've done all of this before too. I usually go by what's due next at the library, or what I need for a challenge I'm doing. I've done random.org and put in how many books are on my tbr and let it pick which one is next lol. I've even had my 3 year old point to which book I should read next :)

I am mood driven.. so for me.. I go through my 500+ books on my Kindle, reading the synopsis, till I find one which excites me.. then we look at each other, shake hands and spend some time together. :)

I'm rereading a book right now, just cause. I read it ages ago, it's called Uglies by Scott Westerfeld. I have other books to review too, but I'm jumping between them. I don't really like the review book genre as much. I'll read mostly anything, as long as it has a good plot, though.

To choose my next read, I look at cover design, read all of the reviews and blurbs included in the book, and read the first few lines. If it grabs my attention, I stay with it until I finish.
