Adella wiped off her sword as well, deciding it might be a good idea to keep it near her from now on, but with her having the day off wasn't sure what to do now, the adrinalline from the battle still pumping.,

Jame stood behind the wheel, one hand gripping it, the other wandering to his new treasure around his neck. He fingered it a little, smiling to himself, before tucking it back into his shirt. He had the key. Now there was only one more thing he needed to find.
"Sir?" Adella asked as she came up to the wheel, taking a breath. He was the only one here who knew hwe secret....and no matter what he'd said earlier it still made her nervous. "I was wondering what you wanted me to do. I know I have the day off but after that.....I can't relax."
Jame looked up, raising an eyebrow slightly. So she had determination as well. He handed her his spyglass. "You can help me keep watch." He said simply, both hands on the wheel.
"What am I looking for exactly?" She asked as she took the spyglass. "More ships?" She thought the person in the crows nest took care of that, but she;d do what she was told here.
Jame shook his head slowly, jabbing a thumb towards the crows nest. "That's his job." He grinned wryly. "You're searching for something else. Don't tell the crew, or you'll create unrest...." He tugged at his earring a little. "You're watching for sea monsters."
"Sea monsters?" She asked, a bit nervous at he thought but trying not to let it show. "I thought they were just a myth?"
Jame chuckled and shook his head slowly. "You might change your mind about that when we meet one deary." He scanned the waters warily. "These seas are crawling with them." Everything he spoke, he said in hushed tones to make sure no one but her would hear him.
She looked out over the waters again, this time using the spyglass to see if she saw any of them. Honestly she was hoping not. Weren't they supposed to be huge? that's what all the stories said anyway. How would they fight one?
Seeing that Adella was now occupied with searching for sea monsters, Jame smiled a little to himself. He didn't think sea monsters were real, he had just wanted to keep her occupied. Well, that was until the ship jolted and swayed crazily as they hit something... or... something hit them.
She rocked on her feet when they were hit, almost dropping the spyglass but managing to hold onto it. "What the hell was that??" She muttered as she got her feet back under, looking around wildly for what had caused it, going to the edge of the boat and looking over the side.
Jame's eyebrows pulled lower over his eyes in worry. "I don't know." He said softly. He ran to the side with Jessica and scanned the waters. He was holding his breath, hoping they had not run aground in a reef. Then he saw something move beneath the water. Something large and black and definitely living. He cursed under his breath and shouted. "Prepare for attack!"
((Adella not Jessica ;) I get confused sometimes too though lol))Adella moved away from the side but drew her sword again, turning to face the captain. "How do we fight something that big?" She asked, voicing her earlier concerns. Sea monsters were real.....
((lol yeah. haha lots of names to keep track of. I mix them up all the time....))Jame looked over at her, determination in his eyes. "How should I know?" He asked, smiling wryly. "I've never fought one before." The ship creaked and rocked as the animal knocked it again. Jame swayed. "Steady men!"
((Remember I said I have 12 with one person? We do it all the time and sometimes don't even realize I until posts later))That didn't help Adella's confidence any..... "If it comes up maybe shoot I with a cannon?" she suggested, not seeing how the swords would do much damage.
((And I gg to work soon. Get off at 10))
((oh goodness. That's crazy. And ok. Oh, and what should this sea monster be? I've kinda been avoiding describing it bc I have no idea... lol))
((oooo scary. 0.o lol looks great.))Jame rain to the main sail and began climbing the rigging, his sword between his teeth. He wanted to get higher up so he could get a better look at what they were fighting.
((Haha googled sea monster and thought it looked cool :D))Adella was staying away from the edge, not sure if this thing would be able to reach over or not. It must have been under their boat for awhile....otherwise she should have seen it....right?
((Lol nice. Internet is really slow. Just thought I would warn you.))Jame reached the top and looked down. Then he saw it. It was swimming below the ship and wow was it scary looking. It dove upwards on the starboard side. Jame guessed its intentions and immediately shouted. "Prepare for attack on starboard!"
She swallowed nervously, grip tightening on the sword as she went over to starboard. From the way it rocked the boat this thing had to be huge...... Furiously she tried to think back to all the stories she'd ever heard of sea monsters, how they were defeated.
The monster broke the surface with a huge roar and it's large head immediately snaked towards the sailors standing closest.Jame yelled and leaped from the beam he was standing on, sliding all the way down a sail to the deck. He hit it at and run and immediately charged the.... thing.
That. Thing. Was. Huge. For a moment Adella was frozen, too scared to move but after a second she snapped out of it, leaping out of the way, her heart pounding quickly. What was the captain doing!? She doubted swords would be much use against it....throwing a quick glance around the deck she was running towards one of the cannons.
The head swung towards Jame. At the last second, he jumped as high as he could and reached out, grabbing hold of one of the creature's face spikes. Swinging himself astride the monster's head, he began furiously jabbing his sword at it's eyes.
"Captain watch out!" she shouted over to him across the ship. "I have an idea!" She could tell that what the captain was doing now was just making the monster angry.
Jame managed to blind one of the monster's eyes. The thing roared and started to smash its head around furiously, trying to get Jame off. The head whacked him against the main mast, and Jame fell limply to the deck of the ship.
She was worried about the captain, but they needed to take care of the monster first. As none of the crew were to close to it she pushed on one of the canons, aiming it towards the monster, luckily there was still a cannon ball inside from the earlier fight, she wasn't sure if she would have been able to lift one. Taking a second to me sure it would hit the monster, she lit the fuse, firing it.
The monster let out a horrendous shriek, writhing when the cannonball shot right through its thick neck. It splashed beneath the water and retreated, disappearing slowly into the dark depths. The crew cheered and one of them picked up Adella on his shoulders. They all congratulated her and cheered some more.
((I wonder what they'd do if they knew she was a girl then :P))"Put me down!" She said, honestly not wanting to be in the spotlight, she'd just been trying o help. "The Captain's hurt!" They needed to worry more about him that cheering her for that. Anyone could have done it...
((lol. Probs wouldn't be good... XD))The crew member put her down slowly and clapped her on the back. "Good job boy. You save our skins." The crew went back to their work. They were more worried that the captain would be angry with them if they stopped working, than they were worried about helping the captain up again. .
((Maybe they should all find out way later? awhile after she becomes first mate? Something happens and its reveled. ))
She let out a string of curses when she saw that no one was helping. She'd been cursing like a sailor long before she'd joined the crew. Glaring at a few of their backs she went over to see what she could do. "Captain?" She said, bending down next to him.
((Sure. Sounds good. :) ))Jame groaned and shifted a little, opening his eyes a crack. His head was swimming and the world was spinning around him, making him rather dizzy. He moaned softly and closed his eyes again. Nothing was broken, but he had gotten hit pretty hard on the head, and was conked out.
"Sir? Are you okay?" She asked, relaxing slightly that he was breathing at least. That was a good sign, at least he was still alive. "What can I do?"
Jame remembered what happened and he jolted upright, causing his hand to fly to his head and he winced. "Where is it? Where's the monster?" he looked around and saw that it was gone. "How did... what happened?" He shook his head. "Oh never mind. Please just help me to my cabin."
"The monster was injured." She replied, helping him up. "It should be gone now." She told him, just hoping it stayed gone. She wasn't sure if the same trick would work twice.
Jame nodded. "You'll have to tell me all about it later. Right now I don't think I can do much at all." He said honestly, walking slowly towards his cabin with her.
She just nodded. "Is there anything I can do to help?" She asked once she had him in there and sitting down. She'd seen him get thrown but other than that wasn't completely sure what was wrong.
Jame lay back slowly on his bed. Groaning sofly he squeezed his eyes shut and winced. "Would you be an angel and get me a bucket of ice, a rag, and a bottle of rum?" He asked her weakly.
She raised an eyebrow at his choice of words. "I can get them sure, but don't call me an angel alright? Just because I'm a girl doesn't automatically make me one."
He opened one eye and grinned at her. "I can call you what I want love. But if you don't like angel, thats fine by me." He smiled closing his eyes again. "Now go get those things!"
She rolled her eyes as she left the room, not amused. If the others found out about her secret she'd blame him. And with calling her things like that it wouldn't be hard for the rest of the crew to find out. She doubted they'd react well to it. She was gone for a few minutes before coming back in with the rum, ice and rag. "Anything else?"
Jame smiled up at her. "No that'll be all for now darling." He grabbed the rag, and soaking it in the ice, put it on his forehead. He took a long swig of rum before relaxing back again. "Visit me whenever you want love." He said, smiling a little.
She shook her head, he must have hit his head harder than she thought. "If any of the others hear you talking like that.....If they find out about me...." She trailed off.
Jame laughed. "There's no one in here but you and I love. When we're alone, ill call you what I wish." He grinned wryly. "When on deck, you are Dell to me, nothing else."
"And what if someone happens to be listening in?" Adella argued. "You said yourself that most of them would find a woman on board unlucky....if they found out what's to stop them from throwing me overboard?"
He looked at her seriously. "Me love. Im the captain, or have you already forgotten? My reputation is strong among the crew." He smiled a little. "They all know better than to disobey an order from me." He left out the part that that was mainly due to him being a pirate.
She just shook her head, still not sure he'd be able to stop the mutiny if her identity was discovered. She'd just have to hope that her secret stayed safe. Without another word she left the room, closing the door behind her as she headed back to deck.
Jame sighed a little as she left, and closed his eyes tiredly. He understood her worry, and he would be careful for her sake. He knew the risks well. If she was found out, he would have a hard time keeping her safe and away from the crew.
A few hours later she came back in to check on him with some food from the reserves after having just eaten a bit herself with the rest of the crew that weren't currently on duty. "Hungry?"
