Matt | 4 comments I had started a series (I believe it was a trilogy, and I had read the first book and started the second book). I distinctly remember the book cover designs for both books, as one had a weird old lady and the other had a skeleton like guy wearing a water tank on his soldiers filled with a liquid with tubes connected to it. I do not remember the exact plot, but I'm sure it was about a girl that traveled to another world through a lighthouse in the middle of a field (for some reason I remember she used a sextant, but I'm not sure). I believe her name was Meg or something like that. I also remember she rode on some fish men who sang a parody of "Oh, Christmas Tree". I had read the books in 2007, but I believe the books were written in the 80s/90s. If you can help me remember the title or author, thank you.

Holly (hollylovesbooks) | 759 comments It's not the Wrinkle in Time series is it? That's a children's fantasy series with a main character named Meg. She does travel to other worlds (though I don't remember a lighthouse...but I've only read the first two books recently)

No I clearly remember that series. Though it's possible I confused the characters, since I read the books around the same time. Thank you though.

I think the book is Abarat by Clive Barker. Abarat (Abarat, #1) by Clive Barker
Here is the series link: https://www.goodreads.com/series/4939...

A quote from the book: "The ditty was sung to the familiar tune of "O Christmas Tree..."
