I love San Antonio as well.
I also love Ingram. I spent a couple weeks at a dude ranch (haha) there and simply loved it. Love shopping in Fredericksburg.
I love Texans.........and Texas!!!!!

5th generation Texan, but no accent. :)

And yes, there were dudes, cows and horses.
Oh yeh.........we are rug hookers!!!! From age 25 to 90!

I love this series and love reading about the ranch!!!!! (And so much more)
Welcome aboard!

Looking forward to reading Phillip Meyer's The Son, set along the South Texas frontier. I heard him speak this weekend.

I know Peoria! I grew up in Chicagoland :)

Hey, don't pick on the Southern folks! ;) I am a Southern Belle born and raised. I say Y'all, ask about "Your momma and them," and never use a "g" on words like fixin, dressin, or waitin. Don't even get me started on the War of Northern Aggression.

I know! People think we walk around barefoot and are missing teeth. I actually had a guy say he was surprised I had a Master's degree and when I said I wanted to work on my PhD, it blew his mind. Glad you like it in the South. I did not see, where do you live now?

You mean it's fixing, dressing, waiting???? Nah, I don't think so.
My husband is from East Tennessee and the 2nd thing that endeared me to him was his lovely southern speech, that I couldn't understand very well. He'd say......"honey, can I have a piece of pie" and I would just melt. After 34 years, I still melt.
Give me priceless southern manners anytime!!!!
And, since VIctoria mentioned Midwesterners..........I cannot wait to move from the rudeness in FL to the open arms of Missouri. I want to return to KC, so badly, it's all I can think about.
We are working on a move, as I type.

You mean it's fixing, dressing, waiting???? Nah, I don't think so.

There is nothing like a Southern Gent. Now, we have our share of good ol boys, rednecks, and white trash... and yes, there is a difference, but a Southern Gent who opens the door for you, pulls out your chair, speaks with that sweet southern drawl, there's nothing like it.

I'm in south-central VA. Also lived in Missouri. I almost don't want to tell yankees how great it is here for fear they'll come and ruin the place :)

You lucky girl. Glad you're getting back to KC

We lived in San Francisco for five years and I can count on one hand how many times a man gave up his seat for me on the Metro. And I was pregnant there twice! CA men are all hat and no cattle :) Except for any CA men in this group, of course.

I am a brass California gal. (Yes, barefooted and free spirited).
The first day I met David, I "somehow" gave him a tush pat!!!!!
It kind of shocked him - but he loved it.
3 mos later, he ask my oldest dau for my hand in marriage. 6 mos. after that, we got married.
He is definitely a keeper. His mama sure raised him right.

OHHHHHHHHH I love that.
David never lets me go anywhere without washing my lil car!!!!! Plus, he makes sure it is always gassed. Love those southern boys!!!!
Dips........I hope you are making notes. :-)

Will you open and close the door for her on the car, and then walk her to the door? Then... maybe.

I bet he will be, oh so charming, tonight!
Bat them purdy brown eyes, Dips.
ICK in the Moonpies.
I'll take a GooGoo cluster!!!!! With pecans.........

Oh, honey. Down here everything is deep fried and delicious. Oreos, Twinkies...

Now Autumn, you know that's Nick and Bear's favorites. I used to love watching the Bear Bryant show on Sunday. First thing he would do was open a bottle of Coke and a bag of Golden Flake potato chips. Then he start talking about the players Momma's and the Daddy's he met in that growl of his. Great memories.

I'm going to go have a nice crisp apple!!!!"
Apple pie a la mode would be even better!!
