Well, they think they are at least.

Moved to Norway and am still here, on the coast...

Yes and one of the great bar bets is to name a major American city that is due north of Canada. The answer is Detroit. Thank goodness that darned auto show will be over this weekend. It drives me crazy. My work takes me into Detroit several times a week. I'm a lawyer and bankruptcy court sits a block from where they hold that monster show every year at Cobo Hall. Parking costs skyrocket if you can find a place to park at all.
To answer the main question. I was born in Buffalo, NY and at age 4 we moved to metro Detroit and I have lived in SE Michigan ever since, except for my 4 years in college in the middle of Michigan and 3 years in law school spent in NW Indiana not far from Orville Redenbacher's popcorn fields.

On Hotel Hell with Gordon Ramsey saw a lovely village just outside Washington DC, looked a beautiful place...

Was the episode with the lady who was sleeping in her office and had refrigerators outside? If so, that town is called Harper's Ferry, WV and it has a lot of history behind and a couple hours drive from the Nation's Capital.
