Cindy Fahrbach | 3 comments Hi! I’m new to this group. I’m just starting to use this app more. I recently added some of my contacts as friends here and I noticed one of my friends had this group on her profile. This group appealed to me because it isn’t always easy to tell if a book will be clean or not. I’m JW and I prefer stories that are clean with characters who have morals and integrity.

I found this group by visiting your page, Tracey! Really liked what it stands for, so I decided to join!

message 403: by April (new)

April (aprilgdesign) Found this group after finishing Once There Were Wolves (Charlotte McConaghy) for my book club (don't read it). I think I've known this for a long time, but that book solidified my belief that I am not cut out for reading a lot of the mainstream popular novels that are packed with violence, sex, language, etc. I found this group through a woman whose reviews I follow on GoodReads, and glad that I did. I'm not sure that I even realized groups existed here! It should be much easier now to find books that are more up my alley!

Nancy (truthfulreviewer) Just looking for clean book groups.

Deb | 3 comments I've been searching the internet for clean books and found a link to this Goodreads group from this link
https://teachbesideme.com/how-to-find...
It has lots of other links to websites that give ratings for books. I've not checked them all out yet but I think it's a good place to start.

Crystal Crawford (ccrawfordwriting) | 2 comments I have a Clean YA Reads group on Facebook, and someone posted about this group... so happy to have found it! I don't keep up with Goodreads group notifications as much as I should, but this makes me want to keep up with this one. :)

message 407: by Karin (new)

Karin I found this group when I decided to click on that link that tells me what books are shelving books from my shelf. I see that three of my GR friends are here.

I read a variety of books, to be honest, but prefer clean ones when I can find ones I like. I'm not big on romance novels (prefer my romance as a subplot) and I feel that in a group such as this there is more of a chance of getting a wider variety of suggestions besides Christian romance and Christian suspense novels because I can only read so many suspense novels before I tire of them--I prefer to read a broader mix of genres :)

Serenity (RoRo) F. Helzerman | 1 comments Hey, umm I’m not sure if this group is only for married women and I’m only fourteen so if this group you think is not suitable for me, please say so and I won’t go into here anymore.

Hi RoRo, This group is for anyone who likes clean books. I, for one, think you can add a great deal to our discussions. Welcome.

message 410: by Betserella (new)

Betserella | 1 comments Found this group on my own! I had been posting for clean recommendations in other groups and no one ever mentioned this group! I was able to find some clean fiction. Happy to be here!!

message 411: by Teresa (new)

Teresa Morehouse | 23 comments Hi Roro, Happy you found our group. Welcome your inputs!

message 412: by Maggie (new)

Maggie | 2 comments I found this group by searching for 'clean reads' or 'clean books' in the Goodreads lists of reading groups. I am a Christian and so want my reading choices to be pleasing to God. Unlike so many here, I am not LDS but Southern Baptist.

message 413: by Lou (new)

Lou Littlefield | 3 comments I found this group by searching for clean reads. I am an author who started writing because too many books I initially liked soon went dark in various ways. I have a romance under Lou Littlefield and crime fiction under Gemma Christina. I'm so glad to find like-minded readers! Merry Christmas!

message 414: by Megan (new)

Megan Crofton | 13 comments I found this group because someone I follow joined it and I saw the notification on Goodreads. I am excited to be here so I can find more clean reads!!

message 415: by Steph (new)

Steph Faye | 1 comments I searched for clean reads and found this group! I love clean mystery and fantasy. I just finished Wishtress by Nadine Brandes. It was so good! Does anyone have any recs for me?

message 416: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (flutterby32) | 5 comments I am so excited to find this group! I stumbled upon it while checking out one of my favorite authors Goodreads page. Jenni James writes clean teen romance novels. My favorite so far is Not Cinderella’s Type. I am a SAHM and I love when I get some time to read. My free time is limited so it really bugs me when I start a book then can’t finish it for all the language and other filth. The reviews on Goodreads help but then I learn too much about the story.
I would also love to see some kind of book rating system. I think just adding a warning in the description of a book would be great and shouldn’t be too difficult to implement. Not sure how to get that idea to all the publishers though.

message 417: by Alice (new)

Alice (alijo) | 2 comments Amanda,
I can’t find a way to respond directly to your post, so I’m hoping you read this. My daughter showed me a website I can use to make sure a book isn’t too “spicy,” so I won’t be assaulted while reading an otherwise fine story with a written pornographic scene. It is romance.io
That address looks weird, but it works. They rate books with 🔥s. 0-2 are some what mild or completely inoffensive. I have been so grateful to have this to look at.

Alice

Katherine Tarube | 3 comments I Googled clean books and found this group. I wish books came with a rating so we know what we're in for. I usually get a sample to read on Kindle so I can see whether it's worth purchasing.

Thanks, Alice! I am glad I checked on here. I will look into that website.

message 420: by Denise (new)

Denise Bucklew | 1 comments A dear friend of mine recommended it to me. It is so hard to actually find a book that ends up halfway through reading start having explicit sex scenes or curse words galore!!! Grateful for this group!!!

message 421: by Vicky (new)

Vicky Hafler | 1 comments I googled a book to find out content and this group popped up.

message 422: by Madison (new)

Madison Sheldon | 8 comments Hi, My name is Madison Sheldon, I'm a new author. I found this group doing a google search. Since I write clean romances, I'm trying to connect with readers who enjoy a nice, thought-provoking romance, without the spice, vulgarity, etc. Love to meet you all!

message 423: by Joan (new)

Joan (jomarcho1) | 37 comments Welcome, that is my kind of romance.

message 424: by Madison (new)

Madison Sheldon | 8 comments Thanks Joan! You can check the reviews here on Goodreads & Amazon. I also have a discussion group! If you guys can suggest any other group for clean reads, I'd appreciate it. I'm terrible at social media haha.

Helen Purdon | 5 comments Glad to find like-minded readers. As another member mentioned, I am grateful to live in my PG / G bubble, but I also love great literature and losing myself in a story with fascinating characters. Thank you for creating a place to share book suggestions and reviews. I found the group by searching for clean books.

what a crazy idea to most but makes sense to those "to whom is it written." It is what He asks of us! "reading choices pleasing to God."

1 Peter 1:15 but as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, 16 since it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.”

message 427: by Allie (new)

Allie Anderson | 4 comments I am a Christian and I don’t like reading spicy books and having to put them down. I usually have my friends (who like/ are okay with spice) help me find clean book or at least tell me what parts to skip. I was trying to find another way to find clean books and downloaded goodreads and joined this group!

Also Common Sense Media is great for age ratings on books and movies I just am too cheap to pay for it. I use imdb and scroll down to the parents guide to check for clean movies, I listen to songs with Apple Music which tells you if there are any swears, and I now use goodreads to check for clean books!

The Hatbox Letter by Laura LeMond
Great historical fiction romance, with a surprise ending! Family oriented and a fun read, very appropriate for anyone who wants a family and clean literature audience read!

Richelle | 1 comments Hi I'm Richelle, I stumbled upon this group while I was searching for clean reads w/ o profanity and s*x scenes, looking for recos of not just by it's popularity but a good read as well. Most of the popular reads contains mostly profanity and soft porn. Looking forward for your reviews and recos that I can share it with my teenager , inspiring, heart-warming and a comfort read.

message 433: by Carol (new)

Carol Dobson | 3 comments Hi. I am Carol. I found your group on Goodreads. I am both a reader and a writer. I wanted to write books that I would be happy for my children to read.

message 434: by Mrs (new)

Mrs Wentworth | 2 comments Hello everyone. I just joined the site today and have slowly begun to update the titles that I've read and rated. I'm a fan of historical fiction, Jane Austen, and Jewish fiction (Non Holocaust or Inquisition-era). I'd love to connect with other Clean Reads fans, as that is my personal preference. Looking for light, entertaining, inspiring reads. Thanks!
