Jacob "The Winds of Winter" is supposed to be released next year, so if GRRM hasn't finished it by now, he has to be at least close. Given that, he's probably not open to fan suggestions. But if you could decide what goes into the next book, what would you?

Personally, I would like for Jon to have not died, and lead the expedition to Hardhome, where he finds Davos and Rickon, thus uniting the forces of the North with Stannis'(and the Vale after Sansa marries Robert Arryn's heir)to take Winterfell from the boltons. Dany and Drogon return to Mereen with Khal Jhaqo, where they defeat the Yunkish. After the battle, Dany flies back to Westeros with Tyrion, where they join Aegon.

Dan J Wow, I definitely need to reread ADWD before the next book comes out. I totally forgot about half the stuff you mentioned. But honestly, I just wanna see Dany get her ass to Westeros already, I think we as readers are due for that.

Chris Jones I could care less about Dany's story at this point, but the characters around or on their way to her (Tyrion, Barristan, Victarion) are interesting and I want to see what happens to them next.

For me, the north is what I'm looking forward to. I have a feeling Stannis isn't dead and Ramsay's letter is a lie, but at the same time Stannis is the last of the major players from the war so I expect him to kick it in the next book. Wild guess, but Melisandre's magic will play a role and we'll see Stannis leading an undead army to the south.

Hopefully we'll get a lot more Bran chapters because that stuff was great.

Jim Swike Never read a book about dragons being raised, so interested to see what happens to Daenrys and them.

Rafael I'd like to see Jon Snow, assuming he is dead, come back as an Other and not a mindless wight. I keep thinking back to the Other that helped out Bran when he passed the wall and how it wasn't obviously stated that it was an "Other", but could still be fairly assumed that it was. It gave evidence that they are intelligent life forms with somewhat free thought and will, or at the very least capable of it. If Jon IS dead, I'd hate for him to be completely out of the books, and this would be a cool turn of events for him. If he ISN'T dead I would love to see that "Jon Targaryen" theory turn out to be true.

Justin Wright I think Jon Snow's consciousness will be transferred to Ghost so the two will be permanently entwined. Kind of like what Orell does in the prologue of ADWD. I am also hoping to see a battle between the Dragons and the Others.

Sansa can't marry Robert Arryn, she is married to Tyrion, he is still alive.

Sir He-Man Jon lives, he is Azor Ahai, his ability to evade death creates a new following amongst the free folk and the Watch and Melisandre declares him to be her own savior, thus ensuring Selyse won't pull anything either. He then does what he wants and saves a bunch of people.

Ramsay Snow/Bolton is eaten to death by the Others.

Reek/Theon is healed by some really messed up kraken magic upon finally getting back to Euron, who basically takes kraken blood and makes him part kraken. Thus all his missing digits come back, only as kraken parts. (yes this would be messed up, but I so want it to happen. I want it SO BAD). He claims the throne and Asha backs him and he starts to go all black eyes Syed from the last season of Lost, which kind of freaks Asha out and kind of turns her on at the same time.

Sansa finds out Littlefinger was responsible for killing her father, uses him to gather an army, forms an alliance with Aegon upon hearing about his presence and secretly plots to kill Littlefinger so she can marry Aegon and put the Starks in alliance with the Targaryens to ensure a double whammy so the Lannisters will be out of power for good.

Cersei - escapes to Casterly Rock and thinks everything is going to be okay only she hears Jaime has been killed and his head has been given to her as a gift from Catelyn Stark as a returned favor for that of her husband.

Catelyn - eats just a busload of people

Daenarys - gets her act together, comes home, fires everyone (literally and figuratively), getting unexpected help from Victarion who devastates the Yunkai'i. She then makes him dragonrider number 2 and Daario dragonrider number 3. They train them and then take everybody to Volantis where they comandeer the city and prepare a navy to FINALLY go to Westeros.

Tyrion - somehow gets in good with Dany and becomes an advisor. Is unexpectedly reunited with his first and only real love Tysha.

Arya - becomes a badass ninja and is given the duty of killing Cersei, which of course she accepts. She goes to Casterly Rock only to be reunited with her zombie mother. They bond. Then they kill Cersei. At the same time.

Wyman Manderly takes over the North for a while after Stannis and he kill off their mutual enemies. Stannis dies. Because he's boring.

Brienne - is rewarded for her loyalty by Catelyn and sent south to Dorne as an emissary to gather loyalty. She falls in love with some Dornish dude who likes strong women.

Samwell - finds out about electricity and also that Valyria exploded from a bunch of nuclear bombs created by men. His mind is super blown.

Tommen - he's a sweet kid but someone gets wise and takes him out of there and someplace far away.

The Mountain - is a zombie now but with Joffrey's head. FrankenJoffrey declares himself the Undead Giant King and has everyone swear allegiance to him. He never sleeps so killing him is kind of out of the question.

Final confrontation happens with Dany, Sansa, and Aegon, along with Catelyn and Arya, match their forces to take the capital. FrankenJoffrey tries to fight a dragon and is burned to ash.

Rickon and Osha finally show up and she winds up meeting Jaqen Hagar who gets them to Braavos.

Book 7 will deal with the Others spilling over the Wall, Jon becoming a god, and the dark one whose name must not be mentioned (Voldemort?) spilling his troops into the world and the only way to stop him is to go to Asshai (Dany finally remembers to do this).

Sansa kills Littlefinger, marries Aegon

Arya finds Gendry and marries him, ensuring house Bartheon's true return.

Bran gets trapped in Hodor's body and his natural body gets killed. He takes over being Hodor only he can talk now and Hodor's mind is forced out into death. Sad but Bran needs the body more...to fight the Others as a giant knight. Hey now!

Jojen Reed and Meera go back home and their dad tells them about Jon Snow being the true king, blah blah.

Samwell finds a cure for greyscale. After the Others are defeated he is released from his duty. His dad is killed in battle so he takes his wildling chick and becomes Lord Tarly and makes his brothers either take the black or become servants in his castle for life.

Val becomes some Xenaesque warrior princess and just travels around saving people along with Brienne, who dumps the Dornish dude I made up earlier.

Theon winds up battling for the side of darkness and commands giant squids to destroy ships with his mind before being killed off by Jon Snow in some epic battle.

Magnar of Thenn or Tormund Giantsbane are given Winterfell. Sansa is given the Vale. Arya and Gendry take over Storm's End. Jon, Aegon and Daenarys wind up co-ruling and sharing the Iron Throne, and second and third Iron Thrones are created for this purpose.

I suppose Aegon should fall in love with someone. Maybe one of the Dornish princesses.

At the very end we find out dragons are hermaphrodites and can lay eggs by themselves after a certain age.

The last scene takes place 1000 years later. It is like a modern day version of Westeros and a tour guide is leading various people (all of the cast in various disguises as modern day tourists) and they are being led through the Red Keep and told about the various fates of the characters. We are told that dragons are now a safely protected species. The Others are mentioned and something along the lines of "nowadays we know the scientific reason for their reanimation..." but we don't find out what it is. The camera closes on the three Iron Thrones as we hear that the last Targaryens are still alive but no longer royally ruling but rather established the first democracy hundreds of years ago.

The End

Dan J ^ Wow, I'll be dishing out the cash to buy the books if this is how they play out.

Jaye Latts Joe, you are brilliant and I want to subscribe to your newsletter!

The only thing you missed is how Sansa and Tyrion get an annullment of their marriage.....

I am in awe of how specific this is.

infael I don't recall the annulment.

Snow and Stannis will live. Stannis can't die because if he does, the North has been won by Bolton and I want Bolton's House eradicated.

I want to see where Euron figures into this. And the Golden Company's invasion.

That's my point, before Sansa or Tyrion can marry anyone else they would have to have an annulment of their marriage.

Michael i want daenerys dead...and the House of Lannisters victorious

message 16: by Amy (new) - rated it 5 stars

Amy Smith Jon Snow alive, in some fashion. My first thought would be that he somehow joins with ghost, but i actually think that melissadre is going to have something to do with keeping him alive. He doesn't like her, so her having something to do with saving him would make for an interesting dynamic. I'd also like to see Melissandre go up in flames, preferably dragon flames. The death of fire by fire.

I think Stannis can be dead. i don't see anymore reason that he needs to be around, and because he's not 100% committed to Melissandre's god, i think she probably would have killed him anyway.

I want there to be some kind of meeting between Bran and Daenerys. I want to see him control the dragons, either for her or against her. I think the draqons are going to be instrumental in fighting the white walkers, lending to the "fire and ice" theme. Daenerys can't rule. She is barren, and therefore has no line to succeed her. I don't see her establishing a democracy as Joe mentions above. She is resistant to advice already, and thinks of herself as a queen and ruler.

Brienne should be alive too. She deserves a more noble death than being wrongfully hung by a half dead Catelyn. I'd like to see Catelyn learn of Littlefingers deceit to Eddard which ultimately helpied to cause his death and send Brienne after him, finding Sansa in the process, and therefore keeping her oath to Jamie.

Jamie is going to throw Cersei under the bus eventually, but i don't think he is ready to sacrifice himself. I see him to be the one to say that Cersei's children are his and therefore not of the royal line, but i think that will mean death for the both of them. Which should happen simultaneously: they were born together and fucked together, now they can die together.

Arya is a bit of a wild card. I think her and Samwell might end up together as companions. I want her to find Nymeria.

Sansa needs to learn what she can from Littlefinger and get the hell out of dodge. He is brilliant when it comes to manipulation, but too damaged to do any real good. Sansa is still a pawn. She's not brave enough or confident enough to do anything other than follow, and i don't think she'll ever be anything more than that. Maybe for a shining second, in the heat of the moment. But, she needs a new leader.

I could actually care less about the iron islands, with the exception of Victarion, but him hooking up with Tyrion would be interesting, since they have a mutual want of getting to Daenerys. That would also work with my thought of going to the north to defeat the white walkers with the dragons, because i think Bran would protect Tyrion. He wouldn't forget the man who made him able to ride horses again.

I know i'm throwing a lot of characters together, but i'm thinking that since this is the second to last book, the groups will start condensing. Books 4 and 5 were created because his manuscript for the 4th book was so massive he had to split it, and a lot of it was due to the fact that the characters were mostly alone, and so he had to visit each of them in turn, instead of just one to check up on a group of them (bran and crew being an exception). With the end game in sight, everything is going to converge on one major axis, of "the fight for westeros". And while i don't think they will clump together like a pig pile, i think alliances need to be made for the final confrontations.

Sir He-Man Amy - you have a lot of interesting ideas! I love the idea of Bran controlling the dragons! I never thought of that. But I see him as working with Daenarys.

The thing is, I think she can form a line of succession. All she needs to do is declare an heir, that heir being Aegon and any of his descendants, who will be second, third in line upon her death.

I was thinking a few hundred years later on down the line Westeros would become a democracy, after things settle down a lot.

Also, regarding Brienne, she was freed by Catelyn. The last moment in book 4 is her hanging by a rope but then she appears briefly in book 5 AFTER that takes place to lead Jaimie straight to Catelyn. She lies about having found Arya and the Hound, because the Hound is a monk by that time and Arya is across the world in Bravos. So that means...(makes neck slicing motion) Bye bye, Jaimie.
