In A Midsummer Night's Dream by William Shakespeare there were many conflicts. One of the main conflicts is when Egeus forbids Hermia to marry Lysander. Egeus is Hermia's father.Egeus wanted Hermia to marry Demetrius. Shakespeare really brought my attention to the fact that people should make their own decisions because if not many problems may arise. In the period of time that the book was taking place in if you did not obey your father you had a great chance of getting killed. Lysander and Hermia did not care what Egeus said because they were in love and a result of that was when they ran away so that they could be together. Egeus was very strict and announced his rules very clearly when he said that Hermia may not marry Lysander.
