Yes i get why you do... the change in him in this book is huge and how we get to be there watching it happen is the shit

cory's life had been crap but she made it loving for her son... her concerns for him and how she allowed him to breathe a bit when he needed it was great-yet i would have gone nuts having my kid out there walking alone at night like that...
No doubt. I can't imagine it at all yet I respect her for realizing he needs time to himself and for trusting him.

That's ridiculous. They are different characters in a different book. Some folks are awful fecking eejits out there....
Will check reviews when I finish even though I know they are spoiler. Need to catch up so I can check some spoilers.....

morning- maybe a quick change in you review - Cory's son's name is Nolan (her teenage son, Nolan)

TeriLyn wrote: "Mo - did you finish?"Just finished. so checking over all the spoilers. Agree with what y'all are saying. Cannot wait for the next book.
I am surprised you guys are surprised/shocked at Cory's reaction to 79%. Remember what Isaac said to her too before Havoc walked into her room? I would have totally reacted the same way. 'Water under the bride/shit happens' is usually my approach to things such as that. That's why I think this series has become my favorite in this genre - Susan's femals are the type of females I can see myself being friends with - easy going and straight forward.
yay! me too! Something wicked this way comes. Although I'm not sure how much more wicked Signal Bend can endure...

But you make an excellent point. She wouldn't be a Fanetti female lead if she were anything other than straight forward.
I am so freaking excited to meet Len and I love that the story with (view spoiler) will continue!! BTW, Len is hooking up with (view spoiler)!!! Finally! I feel like I know her so well already :)

Yes Irene - Definitely. I thought at the beginning she was a bit standoffish because she didn't know exactly what to do with him. I thought she'd more put out after 79%. You're right though. She took Isaac's gentle warning for what it was. She knew what she needed to do and she did it. PS) Wasn't Isaac fabulous in this?

i get it and you and i are on the same page.
I just thought of something while driving this afternoon ... maybe I am reading too much into it but thought I'd share ... you know how Havoc was saying about his mother being a great cook but it seemed as if keeping a great household was her greatest accomplishment. Where as Cory may not have provided a great 'home' per se to Nolan or fantastic spread on the table every night, but she was able to nourish the boy's soul which, to me, is more important vs giving him the surroundings that may appear perfect on the surface yet provide nothing but an illusion of a perfect family life. Does this make sense??? I am not hating on Joe's mother but I am feeling his pain, especially when he thinks back and says (view spoiler) That broke my heart more than the way his father was with him.
Makes total sense, Irene. Agreed - Cory, by society's standards not my own, raises Nolan unconventionally. She's nurturing in such a special way that Hav never knew. He missed something he never knew existed.

Havoc seeing what families really are... his finally getting his mother never stopped her husband from beating the crap out of him as she should have... he thought it was Normal... and the way things should just be... he saw how no one nurtured his sister... held her back and didn't encourage her... then he observed all that Cory did... loved up her son... talked with not at and he also understood all the stuff like you so perfectly described... the table... the fixins' all of that didn't mean shit if the real ability to SHOW love wasn't there...
He also went from not touching... to being obsessed with always wanting to touch her ... just a hand on the shoulder... or somewhere... and pat on the boy... needing that connection.
Irene.... Beautiful
You are spot on there, Irene. I doubt Joe's mom would put out macaroni and cheese from a packet..... or pastry not made from scratch.
Mo wrote: "You are spot on there, Irene. I doubt Joe's mom would put out macaroni and cheese from a packet..... or pastry not made from scratch."Ha! Excellent point. Definitely not. I, however, specialize in cheese from the packet LOL

I JUST read that line! I thought it was pretty clever. I was thinking of using it in my review even ... LOL!
And ITA with you all. WHY the need to compare books within the series???? Isaac and Lilli are Isaac and Lilli. Hav and Cory are Hav and Cory. BTW, Hav just beat out Show out of #2 spot (Isaac still reigns as my #1!!!!). I feel so much love for Joseph Mariano, you have no idea!!
