Sarah | 3915 comments Annnnnd we have a schedule! We tried to keep it as low on conflicts as possible but there are a few. Sandi has 3, Stephanie 2, and one each for Teanka, Elle, Chris2 (not June!), and Monica. We both apologize for this. So here it is:

March
The Golem and the Jinni
Those Who Hunt the Night

April
Wool Omnibus
The Dragon's Path

May
His Majesty's Dragon
Hyperion

June
Oryx and Crake
Good Omens

July
Spin
Cat's Cradle

August
Little, Big
Assassin's Apprentice

September
The Lies of Locke Lamora
To Say Nothing of the Dog

October
Wild Seed
Dune

November
The Quantum Thief
The Warded Man

December
Embassytown
The Lions of Al-Rassan

The calendar that Michael organized for last year really helped me keep up with my reading last year. I hope this does the same for you guys :)

message 252: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (ladycello) Thank you so much for organizing this! I like having a bit of a plan to my reading, so this will help keep me on track :)

Sarah | 3915 comments Me too :) I had fun last year.

message 264: by Maggie (new)

Maggie K | 693 comments :O only one of mine made it?????

oops, I guess its 2 if you count this month
Still. :|

message 265: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 3915 comments I think you're down to reading the lesser knowns, aren't you? There are so many on here that as people were nominating there were a bunch I hadn't heard of, despite the fact that I've got all of these in my TBR.

message 266: by Maggie (new)

Maggie K | 693 comments i know-its my own fault for having read so many! lol

message 267: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 3915 comments I'm reading The Anubis Gates in Aug if you want a co-reader.

message 268: by Maggie (new)

Maggie K | 693 comments I am reading that now! But I REALLY like it :D

message 269: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 3915 comments Cool! Someone nominated it as a horror selection in one of my groups and it piqued my interest. I love a good horror book.

message 270: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie (stefaniajoy) | 272 comments Thanks for putting this together! I don't mind the conflicts, no need to apologize :)

message 271: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 3915 comments I'm glad to hear that :)

message 272: by Barry (new)

Barry (boprawira) | 64 comments Thanks Sarah! Will try to follow the schedule, though I may be reading a couple of books ahead due to schedule with another group =).

message 273: by Chris (new)

Chris | 1130 comments Does anyone know what the policy or norm is for resurrecting old topics? It's generally frowned upon in most forums, but maybe book discussions are an exception. I ask because I may be reading some books from our schedule early.

message 274: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 3915 comments You should be able to comment on book discussions anytime, I believe. I think the only off limits discussions are locked.

message 275: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 3915 comments Chris, I noticed on the What Else Are You Reading thread that you've just read The Windup Girl and The Word for World is Forest. I don't want to put anything up in the first thread prior to the scheduled date, but I'm happy to pull threads for you in this discussion if you want to comment on anything. Here's these two, let me know if you need others.

"Windup Girl" First Impressions--No Spoilers
"Windup Girl" Loved it? Hated it? Final thoughts ...

These are the threads we used last year for The Word for World is Forest
"Word for World..." Gut Reaction & Discussion Leader *no spoilers*
"Word for World..." Humanism *spoiler*

message 276: by Chris (new)

Chris | 1130 comments Sarah, thanks, that's sweet of you. I think I can wait until Feb 15 to discuss The Windup Girl. I wasn't planning to discuss The Word for World Is Forest, but maybe I will take a look at the threads.

message 277: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 3915 comments It was a fun discussion :)

message 278: by Edwin (new)

Edwin Priest | 718 comments I can't believe all of you overachievers are starting to comment on The Windup Girl already. Such pressure........

message 279: by Valerie (new)

Valerie (darthval) | 781 comments LOL, Edwin, it is almost February, and we are only talking first impressions. I wanted to post while my impressions were still first and fresh. :D

message 280: by Hank (new)

Hank (hankenstein) | 1230 comments Ahhh the First Impressions First Post! I want one of those someday :)

message 281: by Chris (new)

Chris | 1130 comments My January schedule was light, so I decided to get a head start on February. Both The Windup Girl (19:34) and Under Heaven (19:32) audiobooks are on the long side.

message 282: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 3915 comments How was the audio for The Windup Girl?

message 283: by Chris (new)

Chris | 1130 comments Sarah wrote: "How was the audio for The Windup Girl?"

The narrator Jonathan Davis was excellent! One of the best I've encountered to date.

message 284: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 3915 comments Thanks :)

message 285: by YouKneeK (new)

YouKneeK | 1412 comments The U.S. Kindle version of The Dragon's Path just dropped from $9.99 to $1.99. You all are planning to read that in April. I’m hoping to join you because I’ve really been wanting to read this series, so I just grabbed this deal myself.

I’ll cross-post this in the sales thread where it really belongs, but I wanted to make sure the people who are actually going to be reading it soon saw it.

message 286: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 3915 comments Thank you! I never check the sales thread so I wouldn't have seen it. The narration is only an additional $2.99. This isn't my kind of book so I would have resisted paying full price.

message 288: by Sabrina (new)

Sabrina | 375 comments Thank you Sarah, I'm really looking forward to reading Under Heaven

message 289: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 3915 comments Me too!!!

message 290: by Valerie (new)

Valerie (darthval) | 781 comments I am eager to lurk and see what you guys think. Under Heaven is one of my favorite books.

message 291: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 3915 comments I'm hoping to get to it late next week. I can't wait. I was so excited that this one was popular enough to get in.

message 292: by Tria (new)

Tria (trialia) | 26 comments I like Under Heaven, but it isn't anywhere near my favourite GGK novel, I confess. Ysabel, on the other hand... And I nearly picked up a duplicate copy of Tigana today, if it weren't for my trying to reduce my duplicates... I still have River of Stars to read yet, though. Oof, my TBR can be quite intimidating when I actually look at it. (I just finished The Secrets of Drearcliff Grange School, and am in the midst of listening to the Harry Potter books on Audible, & just got the new Richard Armitage-narrated edition of David Copperfield this morning for my birthday (that being tomorrow). And that's just the start.)

message 293: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (ladycello) I started Under Heaven a couple of days ago and I really like it so far. The description of the world is lovely, and I'm enjoying the character building so far.

message 294: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (ladycello) Also, I love horses :)

message 295: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 3915 comments So that extra thread may be fun :)

message 296: by Maarit (new)

Maarit | 136 comments I'm such a slowpoke it seems. I'm still reading Ancillary Justice (though I'm around halfway mark), but I think I will finish it this week, as soon as I have got some of my work related stuff out of the way. Then I will start to read The Windup Girl, though I doubt I will be able to jump in the conversation right away. I will definately read it, though, as it has been on our bookshelf forever without being read, so it's about time to see what's it about.

message 297: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 3915 comments I just finished Ancillary Justice yesterday. I also posted the threads a few days early so I think you're probably fine. I read The Windup Girl years ago and didn't like it. I was hoping to get time for a reread but I don't think I have it.

message 298: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 3915 comments Kim, if you happen to get on this thread could I get you to add "Under Heaven" to the threads that are for Under Heaven. They're listed as:

First Impressions *no spoilers*
Part 4 & Afterthoughts *Spoilers*
Horses *mark your spoilers*

The links are in the first post.

message 299: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 3915 comments I fixed the Under Heaven discussions so that they say "Under Heaven" in the title of the thread.

message 300: by Michael (new)

Michael | 1303 comments Sarah wrote: "I fixed the Under Heaven discussions so that they say "Under Heaven" in the title of the thread."

Go, Sarah!

I'm looking forward to starting Those Who Hunt the Night on the 15th!
