SOLVED. YA book about boy tracking killer [s]

So I believe this book came out in about 2003 or 2004. It is a YA book about a boy who finds the journal of a murderer and tracks the murderer hoping to stop him from murdering again. It was like some sort of bug name as the title…. Please help.
