GET YOUR KICKS ON ROUTE 66




U.S. Route 66 was one of the original highways within the U.S. Highway System and was established November 11, 1926. It originally encompassed 2448 miles miles and was removed officially from the highway system on June 27, 1985.

So, in honor of Route 66's November birthday we are going to take our challenge from famous and notable sights/locations along the historical Route 66 route.

Illinois
- Book that takes place in Chicago or anywhere in Illinois (at some point within the book)
- Book where a character works in or visits a drive in restaurant (Polk-a-Dot Drive-in IL)
- First book in a series or new to you author (Chicago, IL is considered the starting point of Route 66)
- Book with a tourist theme/location

Missouri
- Book with a chair on the cover or that is a rocking good time (Route 66 rocking chair - MO)
- Book with a bridge on the cover or a book that is a *.5 in a series (novella that bridges the gap between two major installments of a book series) (The Old Chain of Rocks Bridge)
- Book that is a historical (Trail of Tears)
- Book with a character that goes on vacation

Kansas
- Book set in Kansas (at some point within the book)
- Book where a murder takes place or a book that has a bordella or prostitute as a theme/character (Galena’s Murder Bordello)
- Book where a character is a pharmacist or a book that the sale or use of drugs is a theme. ( Galena, KS "Palace Drug Store”)
- Book that is 125 pages or less (Kansas has shortest distance of Route 66 with only 13 miles attributed within its borders)

Oklahoma
- Book set in Oklahoma (at some point within the book)
- Book with a whale on the cover or in story or takes place on/near the ocean (Catoosa, OK - 80-foot Blue Whale)
