LIFE IS A NIGHTMARE for Miranda. Without knowing when or why, blood oozes from her palms – an anomaly that makes her feel like a freak. But her abnormality is now the least of her worries. She’s just enrolled at “Suicide High.” Three deaths in three months – one occurring just days before her arrival.

When she bumps into a cute boy named Jake, things don’t appear so glum. Especially since Jake’s a psychic who can predict the immediate future. But his gift of sight can’t prepare her for the horrors that await.

Through Jake, Miranda meets three other extraordinary students:

Topher – who can heal by touch.

Sam – who eats the sins of the dead.

And Xyan – who speaks and understands all languages.

It’s then that Miranda learns the secret behind why she bleeds.

When it becomes evident that supernatural forces are at play, the five determined friends team up. Now it’s up to them to destroy the evil infecting their school.

The cover just adds to the whole creepiness of the story. I don't know what possessed me to pick up this book because I'm generally squeamish around blood. Not mine, but when someone gets hurt I generally leave because I can't stand to be around blood.

(view spoiler)[ Oh my god I actually believed it was Christopher's mom at first. I was suspicious of Ashley because she said no at first and seemed pretty determined so her sneaking in later that night seemed out of character so I had a sneaking suspicion that it was the demon. But when it visited Topher as his mom, I was skeptic at first but them when his supposed 'mom' tried to leave without any argument, I believed her. And then that whole breast cancer story had me feeling really bad for even suspecting her in the first place and then the when I discovered that Topher was played, I was like WHAT? How? And then felt even more bad for Topher, as if he already doesn't have enough on his plate of problems.

I knew it couldn't be Weber. Like the five assumed everything will be over after his arrest but that seemed too easy. So my suspicion fell on the janitor. And then Jake was attacked that night and I was NOOO! But the next day, we find that Weber was arrested late at night, not at school. Then how did these things happen to Jake during the night? So now my suspicion is solely focused on Ruth.

Like at first, I thought that the Demon had possesed Ronan's body when he went up in flame, because he made that cryptic AF speech before pouring the gasoline over himself. He said "The spirit is the true self, not that physical figure which can be pointed out for your finger" So I thought that the demon was using Ronan's body. Upon further reflection, I surmised that the demon could have simply told Ronan to tell that aloud before telling him to burn himself because he hadn't possesed any other human body, he simply manipulated their mind. But then, I should have maybe wondered why a teacher rather than a student but I didn't. (hide spoiler)]

Anyway, these were my thoughts, if you can make sense of it. I'm giving this a four because of the originality of the book and the twist. Maybe its more of a 3.7 or 3.8-ish though.

Yep! It was like a normal teenage romance... Fantasy is much more intense though. The irresistible attraction was missing, which made it into a sweet high-school romance which wasn't all that bad.

And I hated the animal killing thing! I am an animal person, and this made me hate the demon more.

Stigmatics tends to bleed from the wounds that Jesus supposedly had. I don’t know if I believe this, but over the centuries the Church has said some are real. Others obviously faked. I am not very religious, but I love religious symbolism, so I really enjoyed the focus of the book. (hide spoiler)]

I enjoyed the book, and the second one is all about the dragon belcher sin eater with the bad breath. Not sure I’m gonna continue with that one though I adored his scenes.

(view spoiler)[ I'm not even an animal person and I hated the demon lol. Like I can tolerate small fish because I know they won't harm me but I have this irrational fear of all other animals. Even dogs! I run away screaming and crying if one even looks in my direction. I don't hate animals but I'm scared. But I still resented the demon. He killed helpless animals and that was just... wrong.

Yeah. I looked it up. It was interesting and kinda freaky. Like I am a fan of fantasy [which you know] but that doesn't mean I believe it with every fiber of my being. I only wish it were real.
