14: A book with one of the five W’s -or H in the title

I'd like to think the question is pretty self-explanatory.
Not as much trouble as I thought I would. The second I saw it on the list I knew which book was for me.

I'm reading I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings.
- What do you think the question is referring to?
This one isn't a question. I believe the title is a reference to a poem.
- Did you have a hard time finding a book for this week?
Not at all. This book was one that I moved over from my 2015 challenge. And I actually had a couple other ideas.

This is a crime story and the title refers to where a dead body was found.
I thought this was a really fun prompt. I didn't have any trouble selecting a book. It was hard to narrow down the options.

10% Happier: How I Tamed the Voice in My Head, Reduced Stress Without Losing My Edge, and Found Self-Help That Actually Works by Dan Harris
What do you think the question is referring to?
This is a self-help book by a TV celebrity. It's his story of HOW he reduced stress, etc.
Did you have a hard time finding a book for this week?
No, I came across this one right away.

How to Be a Woman by Caitlin Moran
- What do you think the question is referring to?
A book that has Who, what, when, why, where or how in the title
- Did you have a hard time finding a book for this week?
Not really there are plenty of books with the above in the title
- What are you reading this week?
What We Saw by Aaron Hartzler
- What do you think the question is referring to?
I know that the book is about a girl who is sexually assaulted at a party. So I'm guessing that there are witnesses and they do/don't speak up. Going by the general history of this type of case, unfortunately they probably don't.
- Did you have a hard time finding a book for this week?
I was excited for this week because I added the book to my TBR late last year and knew it was one that I wanted to fit into my 2016 challenge. This was partially because I'm from Ohio and the book is based on a highly publicized case in the area but also because it was one of Emily May's favorite books of 2015. So it was an easy decision when I saw that it fit.

- What are you reading this week?
The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat and Other Clinical Tales by Oliver Sacks
- What do you think the question is referring to?
It's probably not a question as such, but a question of how the human mind functions. I love this sort of stuff.
- Did you have a hard time finding a book for this week?
No used list provided and also was planning to read this book anyway.

When the Cypress Whispers by Yvette Manessis Corporon
- What do you think the question is referring to?
Its not a question, its a statement of what happens
- Did you have a hard time finding a book for this week?
If it was supposed to be a question, I guess I did, but I have plenty of books that use these words as statements, not questions
- What are you reading this week?
Where My Heart Used to Beat
- What do you think the question is referring to?
If the description it telling, it sounds like the book is a flashback and I assume that the title is referring to that time/place
- Did you have a hard time finding a book for this week?
Yes! Was completely flummoxed. And then Amazon sent me a "new book" alert and there it is! I put it on hold at the library expecting it would take forever, and I ended up getting it first. A brand new library book!

What Katy Did by Susan Coolidge
- What do you think the question is referring to?
This is more of a statement than a question.
- Did you have a hard time finding a book for this week?
Not really, I had this on my shelf and my mum recommended it!

How I Live Now by Meg Rosoff
It's also a movie starring Saoirse Ronan, who I have an admiration for. (I realized it after watching Brooklyn recently, but I also loved her in Hanna and the Atonement. I have yet to see this one; I am planning on watching it right after I finish the book!)
- What do you think the question is referring to?
Title refers to a girl's new lifestyle after war breaks out.
- Did you have a hard time finding a book for this week?
No; I suggested it! So naturally I had a couple in mind already. I didn't think I would go with this one though...

What If?: Serious Scientific Answers to Absurd Hypothetical Questions

What do you think the question is referring to?
It's a bunch of hypothetical science-based questions that are set to some awesome XKCD drawings.
Did you have a hard time finding a book for this week?
Not at all. If I didn't use this book for this week I would have added it to week 1. I've been meaning to read this since last summer, and it fit perfectly into the week.
I loved this book so much. Though it is not one I recommend marathoning through, but enjoy just a few questions at a time. It is very thought provoking.

There is no question in the title of the book.
No I already have this lying around since 2013 so this was a good time to read it.

The question reminds me of the zillion random conversations I have with my 8-year-old, which inevitably lead me to google and learning all sorts of science I never got to in school. Love it. Wondering when he'll be old enough for it.
I initially was finding only books with W words in subtitles, which felt like cheating, but then I remembered I'd already started this one. That felt like a different kind of cheating, so I skimmed the bits I'd already read.

But I have also read What If?: Serious Scientific Answers to Absurd Hypothetical Questions, but I am using it into another category. So no, it was not a problem for me to find the book.

I am reading The Girl Who Fell from the Sky
- What do you think the question is referring to?
While there is no actual question in the title, it provokes a question. How did the girl fall from the sky? What does the author mean by this title?
- Did you have a hard time finding a book for this week?
In a way, I did for I had another book picked out for this week. I thought it was on my Kindle, but then I couldn't find it. Apparently, I was remembering the title wrongly or something. Then, I looked at the book suggestions for the week. To me they were basically all books for little kids. So I went through the titles I already owned on my Kindle and found this one.

What do you think the question is referring to?
The question refers to a sign he read in a Tokoyo hotel. The Japanese to English translation literally meant "when you are engulfed in flames" and described what you should do if you were on fire.
Did you have a hard time finding a book for this week?
Not really. I wanted to read this book anyway, and it fit right in the topic for the week. I had one other back up just in case.

What Was She Thinking? Notes on a Scandal by Zoë Heller
What do you think the question is referring to?
I think anyone who has seen the movie or knows the storyline will think it's pretty self-explanatory ;)
I haven't seen the movie so I'm excited to read this...and then watch the movie!
Did you have a hard time finding a book for this week?
Not at all, this was a fun prompt, and I didn't have to look far down the provided lists to find this.

What do you think the question is referring to? The "Who" in this title is not in a question but is used as a pronoun. This book is a series of case histories about patients with very unusual neurological disorders.
Did you have a hard time finding a book for this week No and I was happy to find this on my TBR list.

Where They Found Her
What do you think the question is referring to?
It's not really in a question form, but I guess it could be asking where they found one of the characters.
Did you have a hard time finding a book for this week?
No, not at all although I originally had a different book in mind (Who R U Really?), which I decided against just because the library didn't have it and I'd already asked them to buy several books for me.

Just picked up What She Left by T. R. Richmond
What do you think the question is referring to?
I'll find out soon enough - this feels like a light read, so I should be done with it in a few days :)
Did you have a hard time finding a book for this week?
Not really, it was already in my Kindle library.

I actually didn't choose for this challenge. I'm also doing a progressive challenge for another group where one word of the title of the first book had to match the word in the next book title. I matched the word girl from the book Little Girl Lost.

Who Censored Roger Rabbit? by Gary K. Wolf
- What do you think the question is referring to?
The central mystery to the novel. It's a parody of the noir detective novel type, set in a world where cartoons live alongside (though separate and not equal) to humans. A very cool idea, which was very well done and made into an even better (but distinctly different) film.
- Did you have a hard time finding a book for this week?
I did actually. This was a book which I saw and was interested in checking out, but it wasn't even in my 'near future possibility and wholly theoretical' to read list. But I didn't see a while lot of books with questions in the title and most I hadn't even heard of.
Definitely glad I gave it a shot and it was damned cheap as an efile from Amazon.

The Little Old Lady Who Broke All the Rules
What do you think the question is referring to?
This book does not have a question in it, but I think it refers to a woman who does not believe being older means that you need to follow the rules.
Did you have a hard time finding a book for this week?
No, my mom suggested I read this book after I read The 100 Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared. She said it was a funny read, and to think of her and her best friend while reading it.
I was happy to find a week that this fit into.

Why Not Me?
- What do you think the question is referring to?
I think it's mainly referring to Kaling's feelings of being an outcast in Hollywood.
- Did you have a hard time finding a book for this week?
This was actually one of the easiest--I knew I wanted to read this book this year, and was glad it fit into one of the categories so easily.

What Comes of Eating Doughnuts With a Boy Who Plays Guitar
- What do you think the question is referring to?
It's not a question - it's more a statement of what happens when you eat doughnuts with the boy who plays the guitar!
- Did you have a hard time finding a book for this week?
Nope, I have had quite a few options.

Why We Took the Car by Wolfgang Herrndorf
- What do you think the question is referring to?
It is more an explanation than a question - the book opens with the narrator being questioned by police who have picked him up in the aftermath of a car crash. The story then jumps back into the past to give some build-up towards explaining why, indeed, they took the car.
- Did you have a hard time finding a book for this week?
No although initially I thought I would read Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? - I still do want to read this but I realised that I already had a book that fell into this category so I should read that first.

Where'd You Go, Bernadette
What do you think the question is referring to?
I think the question first is referring literally to where did Bernadette physically go when she disappeared. But I think it also refers to the fact that Bernadette had a bit of a breakdown and "losing herself" when she stopped creating.
Did you have a hard time finding a book for this week?
No, this one was already on my TBR list.

- What do you think the question is referring to?
The people a person loves and perhaps should love in a different way
- Did you have a hard time finding a book for this week?
Not at all, this was on my to read list, I had also tried why we came to the city but gave up on that a few pages in.

How to be a woman by Caitlin Moran
- What do you think the question is referring to?
Not really a question... but it does help explain womanhood in general
- Did you have a hard time finding a book for this week?
Not really. Originally I was going to read The Boy Who Stole From The Dead as I've been meaning to read the rest of that series but instead I decided to go with this non-fiction which is actually the April book reading for the Goodreads reading group called Our Shared Shelf about feminism started by actress Emma Watson.

What do you think the question is referring to? It's not a question, but I think it's to do with closing off dysfunctional relationships.
Did you have a hard time finding a book for this week? Yes, this was probably the category I had the most trouble finding a book for. There wasn't really anything enticing that I could find at the time with any of those words in the title. I now realise I could have used Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, and I'm kicking myself!

Where the Red Fern Grows by Wilson Rawls
What do you think the question is referring to?
It's not a question, it's pretty self-explanatory
Did you have a hard time finding a book for this week?
No, not really.

What Alice Forgot
- What do you think the question is referring to?
Not a question, but it's referring to the main character's memory loss.
- Did you have a hard time finding a book for this week?
Not, this one was on my TBR and I wanted to read it since last year :)

What do you think the question is referring to?
- This is actually a line from a well known saying. It deals with how people cope despite overwhelming odds, even if that situation has not been resolved.
Did you have a hard time finding a book for this?
No. There is another option I could have used for this one.

The title is taken from the poem, "Sympathy", by Paul Laurence Dunbar. I read the book "The Wright Brothers" by David McCullough. Turns out the poet went to high school with the Wrights in Dayton, Ohio.

This book is also my pick for this week. I found it on my to-read list, so it was an easy choice.
I didn't know there was a movie based on the book. Maybe I'll watch it after reading the book.

I wanted to read this book last year but have forgotten all about it again. I've just added it to my TBR. I want to read more nonfiction books, and this is an interesting topic.

What Was She Thinking? Notes on a Scandal
What do you think the question is referring to?
I think it's asking what was she thinking when she started the affair
Did you have a hard time finding a book for this?
No

I'm reading Do They Hear You When You Cry by Fauziya Kassindja. It's an incredible book, but hard to read given her treatment at home and her experiences coming to America. As a result it is taking me longer than the week to finish it.
- What do you think the question is referring to? Her horrifying experiences and lack of support.
- Did you have a hard time finding a book for this week - no - it was more difficult deciding which one to read!

What The Day Owes The Night by Yasmina Khadra
What do you think the question is referring to?
The book follows a young Muslim Algerian and his friends during the years leading up to the Algerian War of Independence. I think the question in the title refers to the darkness that often precedes freedom. As Younes increasingly finds his identity, he is pulled further and further away from his beloved non-Muslim friends.
Did you have a hard time finding a book for this week?
No, I'd been looking forward to this one!

- What are you reading this week?

- What do you think the question is referring to?
It isn't really a question but it refers to her bout of Amnesia.
- Did you have a hard time finding a book for this week?
Not at all. I did a search at the library for titles with the word "What" in the title and this was one of the first to pop up.

Where'd You Go, Bernadette
-What do you think the question is referring to?
Of course she actually disappears in this book, so that's the obvious. Someone else previously stated that she has a bit of a breakdown so it could refer to her emotional state as well, but I think even more so it could refer to her husband who wonders where his Bernadette has gone before she ever goes missing. I think the book answers his question through the search even though the narrator (her daughter) is trying to answer the obvious physical sense of the question.
-Did you have a hard time finding a book for this week?
Not really. If I don't have something in mind for any week, I come to these wonderful posts to see what other members are reading. Usually I find more than one choice that sounds interesting to me.

What a great review. I loved the book BTW... now many books take place partly in ? (don't want to spoil!!)

The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making
What do you think the question is referring to?
I kind of cheated on this one because Who is in the title but it's not really asking a question.
Did you have a hard time finding a book for this week?
No, I just searched for a book in my TBR list with one of the words in it.

The Girl Who Was Supposed to Die by April Henry
What do you think the question is referring to?
n/a
Did you have a hard time finding a book for this week?
I did. I've been focusing on books that I own and I didn't have any that were an actual question.
