Cris (cris_lectora) - What are you reading this week?
The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time

- Did you use your name, first name or surname?
First name. I didn't take the 'The' into consideration, though.

- Did you have difficulties to find a book you were interested in?
Not really. In fact, in my first draft of the list, I had a different book picked, but I heard about this book and wanted to read it immediately.

message 53: by Libscigrl (new)

Libscigrl | 39 comments This week I read Amy Robach's book Better: How I Let Go of Control, Held On to Hope, and Found Joy in My Darkest Hour.

Did you use your name, first name or surname?
I used my first name (starts with a B)

Did you have difficulties to find a book you were interested in? Not at all. I've been wanting to read this and it seems like most of the books I've been looking at this year start with the letter B!

message 54: by Adam (new)

Adam Smith (chaos624) | 1197 comments Reading American Gods.

My name starts with A. Quite possibly the easiest letter to find.

message 55: by Karen (new)

Karen Rashid I read Kiss of the Spider Woman by Manuel Puig.

I used my first name for choosing the book and it was a bit difficult for me to find a book that I wanted to read. I am trying not to buy too many books so was trying to choose from something that I already own. My choices were Kiss of the Spider Woman or another book that was quite long and the first in a series that I wasn't ready to start reading.

Somehow it never occurred to me to use the first letter of my last name ;"R" would have given me much more choices. But I am really glad I thought I was stuck with "K" or I might not have re-read this book from my University Days - I enjoyed it much more than I expected based on my memory of the first read from 10 plus years ago. I think that is one of the main benefits of these challenges - that little extra push outside of the box.

message 56: by Alexis (new)

Alexis (TheSlothReader) For this challenge, I read a book I was already reading before I even joined the challenge so it worked. I read The Ask and the Answer by Patrick Ness. My name is Alexis so the A's matched up perfectly

message 57: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Barstad (maidenoflight) What are you reading this week? Jacob Have I Loved by Katherine Paterson

Did you use your name, first name or surname? I used my first name of course :)

Did you have difficulties to find a book you were interested in? No, I have wanted to read this for a while so it was perfect fit for this category.

message 58: by Brianna (new)

Brianna (bebecburt) | 546 comments What are you reading this week?
I chose City of Bones.
Did you use your name, first name or surname
I used my middle name and maiden name (both start with C). I technically haven't changed my last name to my husbands yet.
Did you have difficulties to find a book you were interested in?
It was hard to make a final decision. I had a lot that started with B and with C. I started watching the show and really wanted to read the book.

message 59: by Kira (new)

Kira | 9 comments Kira-Kira by Cynthia Kadohata This is the ninth challenge I completed and I chose to read Kira-Kira by Cynthia kadohata. The title of this book is my actual name, so I found it very fitting. This book is about the relationship of two Japanese-American sisters, and let me say it has been a long time since a book actually made me cry, but this one did it. I am so happy I picked this one up. It may be a middle grade, but I recommend this book to everyone.

message 67: by Elaine (new)

Elaine | 1 comments I read Edge of Danger by Katie Reus for this entry. As I am reading my list out of order, this was actually my third week's read but I am just now posting about it...yikes! Better work on that!
I used my first name, Elaine, for this one...I love my name--it comes from my Grandmothers (Vivian Elaine and Rita Marie making me Elaine Marie).
I did not have any difficulties with this one as I actually already had Edge of Danger checked out from the library in a wonderful instance of serendipity. The fact that I enjoyed the book made it even better!

message 68: by Lieke (new)

Lieke | 697 comments I read Lang zal ze leven by Koos Meinderts.

I used my first name.

No I had two options on my TBR, and would have looked with my last name if I had't found any.

message 69: by Francesca (new)

Francesca | 780 comments What are you reading this week?
Frankenstein

Did you use your name, first name or surname?
I used my first name but the first letter of my last name is also F so it wouldn't have made much of a difference.

Did you have difficulties to find a book you were interested in?
None at all. This was the first book that came to mind for this category as not only does the title of this book actually have the first 4 letters of my name (5 if we use my nickname of Frankie), but I've been meaning to read this for so long. The story has always fascinated me and Frankenstein's monster has always been interesting to me but for some reason I never got around to actually reading the original story.

message 70: by Sophie (new)

Sophie (sawphie) | 2826 comments Hey Francesca I also started Frankenstein this week! It's really good!

Francesca | 780 comments Sophie wrote: "Hey Francesca I also started Frankenstein this week! It's really good!"

I'm just on chapter 1 now, I took a bit longer to get through the prologue than I thought I would, but it's written beautifully and I think it's really good so far too!

message 72: by Jody (new)

Jody (jodybell) | 3477 comments Frankenstein is a new all-time favourite for me after reading it last year. I'm so glad you girls are enjoying it so far! I didn't realise it was set partly in Switzerland, which made it even cooler!

message 73: by Sophie (new)

Sophie (sawphie) | 2826 comments I also was surprised that it was set in Switzerland! The prologue was weird, at first I wondered if I got the right audiobook haha

message 74: by Jody (new)

Jody (jodybell) | 3477 comments I'm surprised how often Switzerland is mentioned in older classics. Must have been the place to be!

Francesca | 780 comments Sophie wrote: "I also was surprised that it was set in Switzerland! The prologue was weird, at first I wondered if I got the right audiobook haha"

That's what I was thinking while reading it, I was like 'Is this the right book?' but I guess it'll probably make sense later on.

Serena.. Sery-ously? (serenacolouroutsidethelines) | 8 comments My name is Serena, so I chose Social Skills, that was on the top of my TBR pile for another challenge!
Again, what a disappointment!! The plot was perfect, I love fragile and hurt characters, but this was just ridicolous! The 'plot' resists for maybe 30 pages, than.. Puff :(
Plus, all through the 350 pages, I didn't understand what brought Connor and Jared together!

I didn't have any difficulties in finding it, the m/m genre is a favourite of mine :)

Pam (bluegrasspam) | 3840 comments I am reading The People in the Castle: Selected Strange Stories by Joan Aiken. I used the first letter of my first name.

I had originally planned on reading Penguin Island but this one came in, on my library holds, and I realized it started with a P. So, it wasn't difficult to choose. It was pure chance!

Emily: The Diary of a Hard-Worked Woman

Did you use your name, first name or surname?

I decided to go full-on and use my entire first name, not just its first letter.

- Did you have difficulties to find a book you were interested in?

No, I saw this on the clearance shelf at Half Priced Books and was attracted by the combo of my name and the fact that it was a diary. (I'm fascinated by people's diaries.) It turned out to be a boring read, but I powered through it.
