Gone Series by Michael Grant - Reading "Hunger" from the 20th of January 2018

starting the 1st book now, I'm not sure how I'll read this series. I'm just going to go with the flow of where everyone else is.

Chapter 8 (view spoiler)[ This story is interesting so far. All the people that are 15 and older were taken away(just disappeared). Now it's all the younger kids and there is already mayhem breaking out with the fire and Sam finding out he has some sort of power. He isn't sure what they are now but knows he isn't the only one. The younger kids don't know what to do because they are so used to having their parents around for everything. I'm wondering what they plan on doing in this situation and what is going to happen. I find it kind of hard to relate to them, though, because each time I read Gone, I'm older, and it's hard to relate to a bunch of 14 year olds, especially as I'm 19 now.

Yeah it seems more like a middle school book to me right now and that's how the lightning thief series was for me too at the beginning.

This gets a little more serious and complex than that, though. Well, I suppose I have only read the first 2 of each series XD

It gets intense as the books go on and more complex for sure.

I gave my 11 year old niece a copy of this for her birthday a few weeks ago so I feel I should read it also. (view spoiler)[ So far this will probably appeal to an 11 year old I hope that the series grows with age like harry potter did. Everyone over 14 has vanished at the very start of the book. What surprises me is that once they work out that its only kids left they don't go house to house straight away to see who is still here once. How many little children and babies must there be in those houses that weren't at school or in the daycare. (hide spoiler)]

How do some have talents and others nothing there must be a reason. Cain is a piece of work I wonder what he has been up to. His mother knew more that we have been told so far. (hide spoiler)]

Its not that i'm not enjoying it so much, I think that its so all over the place its hard to get a handle on what is really going on. I will have it finished today maybe there will be some answers in the ending that will help make sense of it all.

From what i remember (view spoiler)[ you don't figure out what is in the cave for a good 4 to 5 books, the shit hits the fan fast in these, it gets better as you go, it was just a lot of things up front in this book so you learn the characters and areas on the island. (hide spoiler)]

Also, the author has clearly never been in the back of a McDonalds (i worked there for awhile), as he describes what is where, that layout would never work and the stuff he list in the freezer/fridge/breakroom is crazy wrong.
