I completely agree.
BTW OK so I was checking my books and saw that Cress has 61 chapters. And then remembered we have it in goalless books. Yay!

Used A Wicked Thing read by Andrea for a (new) goal where character gets independence.

New goal: Read a book that a player in an opposing team has read during this team challenge
This one will take some searching but I am sure some of our Goalless books will fit. I'm off to spy on other teams. ;)

Used Harde grenzen read by Imke for goal: Read a book shelved (listed on the first page of the "top shelves" of the book) as to-read

I think that is close enough especially if the main characters are fairly religious

Wren, I think Coraline told us she is already reading something set in that period. But feel free to read/explore if you want of course.
I remember I loved The Clan of the Cave Bear and the reast of that series...

Yeah for us for winning the Norse team mini challenge. Totally didn't see that one coming.
I've read the whole Clan of the Cave Bear series, I really didn't like the very last book but I loved all of the others!

Okay, great! I'm almost done with the rhyming goal. The book isn't too long and is a really quick read as well as good.

There's a tab called bk list that is a summary tab and has all the books in one long spreadsheet. If a book is pulled into the spreadsheet and isn't listed on the goalless tab or used for a goal, it pops up highlighted.
When that happens, I go ahead and add the book and fill out the goalless tab as best I can until more details get posted on the Books Read thread. In this instance it worked out :)

I found a book that works for the poker goal: A Pair of Docks so I'm thinking about using the boon on the religious goal.
That seems hard, especially because it has to be 'extremely religious' which to me means something more along the lines of the dad in Poisonwood Bible than simply being believers in a given religion.

We have Shadows of Self read by me in goalless books, where main character Wax is religious. He prays to God, and God even talks back to him (fantasy genre), but still I do not see him as 'extremely religious' really...

Hi! Figured I'd check in after being MIA for a few weeks. Sorry about that, the end of the semester killed me a little.

No worries, I remember those days. I think people are going to be in and out between now and the New Year. But hopefully you'll be able to relax some before the new semester starts.

Katherine wrote: "I just finished Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone where Hermione's parents are both Dentists. Could that go towards the goal?"
Maybe, her parents are mentioned in the book but I don't really remember them being true characters (I don't remember Harry or Ron ever interacting with them directly, just Hermione talking about them). However, it's been awhile since I read the stories.
I'll pose the question to the mods and get a ruling. It'll be great if the answer is yes :)

Sorry, it's no. You are right and they are only being mentioned in the books. Even when they do show up (I think in one book they are waiting for Hermione at the station or bringing her or something like that) they are not 'long' enough in it to count.
Used: A Pair of Docks read by me for poker hand in title.
New goal:Read a book with a top shelf of 'started' on the first page of top shelves
*Note: this is NOT the same thing as currently-reading. This is going to be a hard one to find.

Andrea wrote: "Would that be located in the genres section under popular started books? If it is Harry Potter is one of them, as is American Gods. If it's not then I looked in the wrong place, those kind of goals..."
You go to the main book page for a given book and look where the main genres are listed. Underneath the initial genres on the GR book page there is a link that says top shelves.
'started' or 'just started' has to be one of the shelves on the first page.
If you search under genres for 'started', books like Harry Potter are listed. But if you go to the Harry Potter book's page, 'started' isn't on the first page of shelves.
Hopefully that made some sense :/
