GeneralTHC H'm ... well, at first glance I think about the only one I'd interested in would be THE SECRET KEEPER.

message 3: by Emma (new)

Emma | 96 comments I know it was a lot, sorry. I am free anytime after Tues, The secret Keeper and The distant hours are the only ones I have not read by her, she is amazing :)

message 4: by GeneralTHC (new)

GeneralTHC Oh, no, it ain't really that much. Haha--I'm practically reading that many books right now. And you wouldn't believe my TBR. :) I'm just not real big on YA-paranormal-type stuff. But, I keep trying it.

message 5: by Emma (new)

Emma | 96 comments I did not realise how much YA I had on my list until you said lol. I suppose we would not be book lovers if we did not want to read almost every book out there :)

message 6: by GeneralTHC (new)

GeneralTHC And there's so many new books coming out, lol. It's making me crazy! It hard to just stay up on the latest, much less read 'em. It really is work, haha.

message 7: by Emma (new)

Emma | 96 comments I know, I am not managing to keep up it's very difficult, having fun reading all the books though.

message 8: by Angie (last edited Mar 24, 2014 07:29AM) (new)

Angie | 623 comments Do you want to read all those Emma? Which do you want to start on, I'm usually happy to read anything, my kids say if it has words on paper I'll read it,lol. So I'll join you:) I own a few of them as well, and one I'd really love to read is the Kate Morton one.

message 9: by Addy (new)

Addy | 379 comments Angie and I will be reading the wood cutter in April if u wanna join?

message 10: by ☆Joycedale☆ (new)

☆Joycedale☆ | 307 comments If you'll wait a few weeks I'll read Shadow and Bone with you.

message 11: by Angie (last edited Mar 24, 2014 08:29AM) (new)

Angie | 623 comments I got shadow and bone from a charity shop a few weeks ago Joycedale and that's another I haven't read. Do you guys buy bargain books when you go out and then take a while to get round to reading them?

message 12: by ☆Joycedale☆ (new)

☆Joycedale☆ | 307 comments Yep, but now with ebooks being so handy sometimes I wonder if I'll ever get around to them

message 13: by Emma (new)

Emma | 96 comments Angie, I am wanting to read them all sometime, just thought I'd give lots of options so people will choose a few lol. Which ones do you have Angie and we can start with them? I own all of these just now, I think Chuck wanted to read the Kate Morton one too, so it's a good one to start with.
@Addy, Ye that's great, let me know when you's are starting it. :)

@Joycedale, Ye I can wait, as you can see I have loads to get through :) I love doing buddy reads, so it's worth the wait :) I am really bad with buying books in charity shops or ebooks and taking months if not years to get around to them. But hopefully I can get through a large chuck this year :)

message 14: by Angie (new)

Angie | 623 comments Daughter of smoke and bone, the woodcutter, frost hollow hall, against the tide, secret keeper, beautiful creatures, and path unchosen. I can get the others as we read them either from the library or from the Amazon lending library. I love looking through charity shops and I have a brilliant book discount shop near me, so it'll be fun hunting for the books as well:)

message 15: by Parvathi (new)

Parvathi | 25 comments How about The Secret Keeper? I wouldn't mind doing that one at all, Kate Morton is a really good writer :)

message 16: by Emma (new)

Emma | 96 comments That's cool, when does everyone want to start the secret keeper then?

message 17: by Parvathi (new)

Parvathi | 25 comments Any time for me. I have the book ready :)

message 18: by Angie (new)

Angie | 623 comments I'm ready for that one as well, I've had the book for ages and this buddy read means I'll actually read it now:-) this is going to get some books of my tbr pile and that can't be bad,lol

message 19: by Emma (new)

Emma | 96 comments That's fine I am ready any time too, Angie, that's exactly why I made this post lol, need to read some books, have far too many :)

message 20: by Emma (new)

Emma | 96 comments I've set up the link for the Secret Keeper, so ready to start when you are :) https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

message 21: by Natasa, co-moderator (new)

Natasa (natasa79) | 149 comments Mod
I'd love to do a buddy read especially since the group read is something I already read...but I'll have to check what I have and compare ...as well maybe join in the current buddy read if I like the synopsis...

message 22: by Emma (new)

Emma | 96 comments @Natasa, your more than welcome to join in with the current one. Or let us know which of these you would like to do. I have far too many books so I am trying to clear them. I just finished The dead girl's detective agency, which is on that list, it was really good :)

message 23: by Emma (new)

Emma | 96 comments I just removed the one I have read, I will try to keep doing that so everyone (including myself) can see at a glance, what has been read.

message 24: by ☆Joycedale☆ (new)

☆Joycedale☆ | 307 comments I can read shadow and bone now. I just need a 1 day heads up so I can go to the library

message 25: by Emma (new)

Emma | 96 comments How about starting a week tomorrow? I need to finish a few first. That okay?

message 26: by Angie (new)

Angie | 623 comments That sounds good:) I bought it but haven't got round to starting it yet. I've seen mixed views on it but I'll make my own mind up. Not everyone likes all the same books do they, it would be pretty boring if we did:-) So starting this in about a week then?

message 27: by Emma (new)

Emma | 96 comments Ye sounds good to me, I will try and get my way through the secrt keeper by then or at least more than I am now, not invested enough yet

message 28: by Angie (new)

Angie | 623 comments I hate it when books are like that for me, I'm having a problem with the general book read on here for this month. For the first time I'm not reading the group read. Do you ever have that problem on your book group Emma?

message 29: by Emma (new)

Emma | 96 comments I often don't read the BOTM which is terrible I know, but I often know I am not going to like it, I do try to, but I am ashamed to say I do not manage to read as often as I would like. Kate Morton is a favourite author of mine too, which is making it worse, I should love this book, but I cannot seem to connect with it. :(

message 30: by [deleted user] (new)

Emma, don't even worry about reading the BOTM. A lot of times I only read one of them myself. Find a book you want to read, set a start date, and then begin a discussion under buddy reads. Someone will most likely join.

message 31: by ☆Joycedale☆ (new)

☆Joycedale☆ | 307 comments A week works for me.

I only do the botm's that I'm interested in, I'm actually not doing either one for this group this month. It doesn't matter if you do them or not.

message 32: by [deleted user] (new)

Hence, one of the reasons I named this group "Casual Readers" :D

message 33: by Emma (new)

Emma | 96 comments I have a group too, that Angie is part of, and I don't often read the books for there either, I do try but it is difficult. I do want to read Death of the Mad Hatter (it was my suggestion), so I really should, will try and do it soon, just too many good books :)

Angie | 623 comments Cindy wrote: "Hence, one of the reasons I named this group "Casual Readers" :D"

I must be a bit slow at the moment Cindy, I never even thought of that lol!! Thanks for saying all that guys:-) Its made me feel a bit better at not reading that book yet. I'll get round to it soon and there's still some time until the end of the month.

message 36: by [deleted user] (new)

:D

message 37: by ☆Joycedale☆ (new)

☆Joycedale☆ | 307 comments I created a thread, I think I got the date right Shadow and Bone buddy read

message 38: by Angie (last edited Apr 18, 2014 04:13PM) (new)

Angie | 623 comments Ah right, I've just found the thread Joycedale:) I've been looking forward to this one;-) Its a good list Emma put together, I had quite a few of them all bought and ready to read. Putting this together has made it ideal!!

message 39: by Emma (new)

Emma | 96 comments I am glad it's helping others get through their TBR pile too. I will be starting touch of frost soon too, in another group, I will put up a link here too. I really should stick to one book at a time, but there's too many ones I want to read lol. I really am looking forward to Shadow and Bone.

message 40: by Angie (new)

Angie | 623 comments I've got it of my book case and picked a bookmark for it:) I love collecting bookmarks, every time I go out I buy or get freebie book marks:D My kids know this as well and over the years they've got me some pretty cool ones.

message 41: by Emma (new)

Emma | 96 comments That's really nice of them, I do like nice bookmarks but just now I am using a train ticket as one lol

message 42: by Angie (last edited Apr 19, 2014 03:55AM) (new)

Angie | 623 comments I use tickets as well like cinema tickets or train ones if I've been somewhere nice and want to keep the ticket, lol Its a bit crazy, I have a box of them. Places like Waterstones give them away at the counter. They are usually adverts for upcoming books or events that are made into bookmarks and they are free. You don't have to buy a book to get them! And the cinema has a rack of freebie postcards that advertise bands or films and you can get some pretty good looking ones :D They are on a rack before you buy tickets so you can just wander in and get them without having to see a film:o):)

Wow I shouldn't start to talk about my crazy habits, lol

message 43: by Emma (new)

Emma | 96 comments Does anyone want to read The Selection (The Selection, #1) by Kiera Cass with me?

message 44: by [deleted user] (new)

Emma, do you want me to start a discussion under "buddy reads" and see if we can find someone to read this with you? I will be happy to if you want.

message 45: by Emma (new)

Emma | 96 comments It's fine I'll do it :) I suppose more people will see it then, Thank you :)

message 46: by [deleted user] (new)

You're welcome. I would but I'm currently finishing off two books and I've got two more to start on the first. Plus, my surgery. Sorry.

message 47: by Emma (new)

Emma | 96 comments It's okay, Hope your surgery goes well and you get better soon. :)

message 48: by [deleted user] (new)
