Oh well that makes a difference! Here I was thinking that we were including those words.
Annette wrote: "Is it too late to join the Toppler?"It's never too late until it's over. jaxnsmom will assign you to a team.
I was asked a question; Can the same word be used more than once on the board in part 2?
Yes, if two people read the same book or different books starting with the same word.
Ariane wrote: "A quick question: I had some books in French in my list, but I guess they won't fit for the part 2?"Yeah, I'll allow foreign words, with Rusalka's reasoning - I'd hate to make her look like she's full of crap ☺
Janice wrote: "Oh well that makes a difference! Here I was thinking that we were including those words."I had to edit because I left out "An". Imagine all the points that would be lost for all the books starting with "The" - that would be horrible!

Welcome to Team 2, Annette! Come check out our team thread.

Ah, great! I had the same question (only for Dutch and German)!

We are (again!) in the same team Almeta...

Hah! Never stopped anyone before ;)
What do you do/how do you score a title with numbers? Like NOS4A2 by Joe Hill. Just to confirm if something has a symbol like & or # (#Nerd), you drop the symbol, right?
For total value NOS4A2 use the first letter of the number spelled out. So you would use NOSFAT.& - use an A
How is the # being used?
If you read out that title it would be "Hashtag Nerd" like a twitter or instagram hashtag. And actually looking at the book, the series name itself is called "Hashtag" with this book being Hashtag 1. So looks like I was assuming right *phew*.

I thought it was hashtag, but figured I'd better be sure. The first letter would be H, and the total value would be based on HASHTAG
Ok, your graphic novel is acceptable. I'll have to come up with a number of required pages for them. maybe 225.

argh! What luck! friends from Norway are in town for dinner on October 17 -- I guess my toppler books will have to wait.
Joan wrote: "argh! Lucky for me the Toppler only starts at 6 pm here. So maybe I can read on the way back!
I have both my partner's and my birthday that week plus work and diy projects. But I'll cram my books in anyway.

J-Mom, to clarify the second round of points. We're connecting the words on a blank grid?? So we don't have to worry where the triple and double words and letters are on a traditional scrabble board? Correct??
And does the board have to be just as big as a traditional scrabble board? What if a team reads so many books that all the words don't fit?
Dawn wrote: "If I recall right, J-mom said 15 x 15 grid for everyone."Okay. (missed that post ;)...)
Erin wrote: "is it too late to join?"No, it's not too late. jaxnsmom will assign you to a team when she sees this post.
***Clarification for one letter titles***For Part 2, if you have any, a one letter title should be the first word on your board, and it will be the only one letter title used. So no, you can't read all the Sue Grafton books and randomly use letters of the words already on the board to claim another title. The next word would connect to your one letter title, and you'd go from there like normal play.
Let me know if there are any questions about this.
