The Elite question

Ahem. I think that the real problem here is not Aspen. It's America.
She is so indecisive, and even though I love her, she's driving me crazy. Here is what happened in the Elite:
She gets extremely mad that Maxon kisses Celeste, obviously forgetting that she has been having make out sessions with Aspen behind his back. So isn't she basically doing the same thing?
Talk about hypocritical.
I say she can go with Aspen cause they are both jerks. And then Maxon can be available for us fangirls! Sound good?

I don't like Aspen. For many reasons, but America is relate able. She isn't perfect, which i like in a main character.

Aspen is a jerk, but so is America. America is a hypocrite. How can she be angry that Maxon kissed Celeste, when she had makeout sessions with Aspen herself? Technically Maxon had every right, I mean he was holding a competition to pick his princess.
So basically Aspen and America can be jerks together.

i don't hate him, i just don't think that he's right for America at all and i hope the he realizes that it's a lost cause and just goes after Lucy.

I hate him and I don't like him either.

I don't hate him, but I'm not a big fan of him either. I think, he's kind of was created to be like that. Like, the author wanted to make sure Maxon will be the reader's fav. Moreover, he was featured less in the first book and we came to love Maxon. Then he appeared and caused a lot of problems and made America to doubt her decision as to Maxon. After adoring him throughout in The Selection no wonder it ignited hatred in fans.

I don't like Aspen. I hate him a bit, at the first book I HATED HIM A LOT, but now I still hate him but not so much as i did in the 1st book. Aspen is a jerk, he doesn't deserve America.

Aspen annoyed me beacause he kept getting in the way. I almost think he was working for the rebels

Aspen is a jerk and I really believe that at the end of the third book he will be dead or somewhere far away :) But Maxon isn't that great guy in the second book too, so I don't know about my feels for that character either.

Aspen is the stupidest character I've ever read about. Well he's not really but. Pretty close call. I definitely like maxon better it's just something about Aspen hat just irritates me.

I never really disliked or liked him. *shrugs* He's just indifferent to me. Kind of the same with Maxon, though he's a little higher in the like department. America is so scattered between the two that most of the time I just shrug and say carry on. Wonder how the ending will be.

I hate him, and am terrified that he is going to completely ruin fragile little Lucy. She's already been through too much!

I HATED Aspen!!!! He seemed really possessive just couldn't get the fact that America wasn't his and he totally had the chance!

I think Maxon is the best ! In Elite I almost didn't like him but in the ending I liked him again. I just don't like Aspen because he left her and he's not right for America

I agree that Aspen is so fake. In the Selection, the way I perceived him was that
--he only dated America for the physical part of the relationship. All they do is kiss...and kiss...AND KISS.
--oh and he's really annoying with that "im a man" crap. I understand his desire to provide for America, but he doesn't seem to have a problem with her feeding him. every. single. night.
--he dumps her...because he cares about her... riiiiiight.
--I don't believe his story about that other girl tripping and him catching her. I think he already found another girl--I mean did anyone else catch that he's been "talking about marriage" AFTER dating America for like two years? AFTER professing his love for her? is that suspicious? yes.
--let me explain. he talks about marriage only two weeks or so before our story takes place, and that's all fine and dandy yay for the happy couple, but it still seemed suspicious that he talks to his mom about it, who wouldn't approve of Mer due to the caste system, and that RIGHT THEN he breaks up with her for a stupid reason and is all cuddly with the other Six girl. idk. maybe it's just me.
--after getting drafted and put at the palace, he puts America in danger by insisting on seeing her. **Spoiler for the Elite** even after what happened with another certain Selected Girl who got caught in another relationship besides the Prince, he still knowingly puts the 'girl he loves' in danger.
--it appears to me that he only wanted America back AFTER she's officially a Two now that she's one of the Selected. Can anyone say gold digger?

Sorry for the rant. In conclusion, no you are not the only one who hates Aspen with a burning passion. (However I do ship him and Lucy;)

I just want to say that NO you are not alone. I hated Aspen from the moment he broker up with America. After the end of the first book I was all for Maxon. But by the end of the second book i hated both her choices so I guess what I'm saying is in the third book I'm hoping theres a Prince from Italy she gets to meet after she uses that number she got and we never heard about again!

I never liked Aspen either. He broke up with her, and then acted like it never happened! and how can you say that someone isn't capable for something, when everyone else (including her father!) says that she can!

WAIT WHAT. Aspen messed up at one point, but understand his logic. He would never forgive himself if America didn't have a chance to compete against other girls for the crown. Him, as a male, wants to provide for her, and if sending her off is the only way then great! He still loves her and the coincidence of getting drafted may be some sort of foreshadow.

I like Maxon but then the second book ruined him for me. WHYYYYYYY?!!?

I don't hate him... I like him even, but I definitely don't think he deserves America. He's way too possessive and it's time for America to move on. Her life has changed drastically and having him around is making it so much harder for her to move on with her life and accept the fact that she can't go back to how her life was. I also love Maxon and think he deserves happiness more than anyone in that whole entire series. Aspen isn't the worst, but I don't want him winning this love triangle haha

Try reading the short story The Guard. I always thought Aspen was just a jerk, too, but the story was written from his point of view and it completely changed my mind about him. I actually find him kind of hot, now.

I still 100% ship America and Maxon, though. ♥

i dislike Aspen putting America in danger like he does,he might say that they won't get caught but you always get caught eventually. and i always thought Maxon was a better match for her, after Aspen hurt her so bad just before she left. i also thing that King Carlson should step OFF!! what a jerk!!

i hated that he left. i hated that he came back. i hate the triangle he caused.

Then, "I realize what a *also censored* I was, so I join the royal guard, assuming that everything will go back just as it was, creating an incredibly uncomfortable situation for you. Oops! Still not leaving!" Yeah. Definitely not alone.

I dont hate him,but I understand why he tell does things to Mer. First bc he is afraid to lose her and second he does not know what she cappable of she is more storng and she can lead and do good things for he country. Mer have to stop give chance to him either that is the reason he is acting this way. He and Lucy could be a good couple I ship them.
