Hey Kristin - just start reading. When you get to a point that you want to comment on, add one to this thread. OR some people like to read the book straight thru, making notes and then add all their comments at once. That's usually me, it depends. I read a lot at night, and will frequently not stop until I've finished the book, but I'm not going to hop out of bed and fire up the computer just to get my comments down - ya know?

Ch 22 (approx 20%) - (view spoiler)[ I am loving this story so far. But since I read Fangirl, and sort of know where this is heading, I can't help but think "hurry up and get to the good stuff!". (hide spoiler)]
Ch 49 (approx 50%) - (view spoiler)[ Wow, Agatha is.....IDK, but hopefully she will just get out of the way from now on. How exciting that Simon's magic is compatible with Baz. If magicians need a focus point/tool for their magic to release, why can't Simon's be another person? It makes sense that a little wand or ring wouldn't work if he has so much magic. Now if only Baz and Simon would hurry up in burying the hatchet - the things they could accomplish together!

I'm also beginning to think that the HumDrum is the Mage or related to him somehow. It is just too convenient that the vampire attack happened, then he came into power and purged the country of vampires, only to have something else pop up for him to fight, etc. Then blaming everything on the HumDrum after the fact. It's just fishy. I can't wait to see what they figure out and how it is related to Baz's mom's death. (hide spoiler)]

I can't put this one down, so I will probably finish up tonight. But I'll come back and check everyone's comments.

Ch 69 - (view spoiler)[ Ick, the younger Mage is creepy. I had an idea that Lucy was possibly Simon's mom behind the veil, but now I'm certain. And how sad that she got wrapped up in Davey's madness. I am also certain now that the Mage created all this chaos to bring about Simon's powers. What I can't figure out is what his end game is and how he will not be found out. (hide spoiler)]
Finished - Aw. (view spoiler)[ I'm so sad for Simon. I can't believe that his father was so greedy for power that he didn't even care about Simon or the piece of Lucy that Simon represented. And poor Simon doesn't even know that the Mage was his father or Lucy his mother. Lucy's message never made it through the veil. So sad. At least he and Baz are out and Baz seems to want to stick with him. I wonder what the next book will be about since Simon doesn't have any powers left? Perhaps he will get them back?
