Angela (bookangel2) | 220 comments I'm still reading the Thomas Hardy short stories - on the last one now - and have read nearly 100 pages of The Poison Tree. Also making a determined effort to read - and inwardly digest!- Autism with Severe Learning Difficulties.

Susan Finishing up Escape by Barbara Delinsky.

message 1654: by Jim (new)

Jim (jimmaclachlan) I'm reading Jim Butcher's Furies series. Although he's best known for the Harry Dresden novels, I'm liking these even more.

Shelli I'm reading The Hypnotist...it is absolutely gripping.....Jo, you should give it a try! It is rather gruesome in parts, but these Swedish crime novels are addictive for me!!

message 1656: by Doug (new)

Doug Bradshaw Sounds good, Shelli. I believe I ordered it. I'm tackling one of those really fat books that my friends at the office loved, Moment in the Sun. I just finished a book that anyone who like Jack Bauer would enjoy, American Assassin. Kind of a fast adrenaline kill the bad guys book.

message 1657: by Shelli (new)

Shelli Let me know when you read The Hypnotist...it was a really fast paced and exciting read! A bit brutal....but good!

message 1658: by Angela (new)

Angela (bookangel2) | 220 comments I'm reading The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton at the moment. It's a little gem!

message 1659: by Angela (new)

Angela (bookangel2) | 220 comments I finished The Outsiders this afternoon. It was very good! Have made a start on Let the Right One in.

message 1660: by Jim (new)

Jim (jimmaclachlan) Hinton's books are great. I think I read That Was Then, This Is Now first, but I really liked both. The movie of the Outsiders from 1983 was good, too. It had Patrick Swayze, Emilio Estevez, & Tom Cruise in it.

I'll have to look out for other titles by her; I really liked her style of writing. My daughter's seen the film, but I hadn't even heard of it! Another to look out for.

message 1662: by Emily (new)

Emily | 48 comments currently reading "A Clash of Kings" by George RR Martin. It's the second book in the series on which the new HBO show 'Game of Thrones' is based. SO far so good! I started reading the first book as soon as I started watching the show, and was pleased at how closely the show matches the book!

Now I'm into the second one - and I'm totally obsessed/excited to see what happens next!!!! Has anyone else read this series?

message 1671: by Shelli (new)

Shelli I'm reading Battle Royale.

Sarah (sarah23l) Shelli wrote: "Sarah did you read the first Changeling?"

No I didn't read the first one, but it hasn't prevented me from getting into this story.

message 1673: by Yassemin (new)

Yassemin (yas666) | 59 comments I'm reading:

In paper back from the library, The Firm My first by him after all this time despite hearing so many good things about him so lets see how it goes.

I'm also reading on kindle- A Child al Confino: The True Story of a Jewish Boy and His Mother in Mussolini’s Italy which is a different take on WW2 and the Holocaust period. Its very distressing as is the period in which it covers but I am still nonetheless enjoying it, its a fantastic read and such a different take on a well known story, it covers jews in Italy as opposed to jews in Germany. Brilliant!

message 1680: by Angela (new)
