In recent memory,

I was pretty freaked by the end...Naughty John in the Diviners is CREEPY! And I was genuinely worried for the MC at the end of The Name of the Star.

its not only scary so its still one of my fave books, but the scary parts is hiding in the corner with the light on with pillow scary.

I own 172 hours on the Moon, Oda, but have not read it yet. Maybe I'll have to get it out for Halloween!

Huhuh.. Well be warned, and good luck getting some sleep the days after you finish it. (btw the author is norwegian and one of the characters is from a place close to my grandmom`s house.)

I agree with Brigid! My absolute favorite horror series! I'm wishing I would have waited and read the last two in October lol
I just bought the first two books and will try
again but this time in print. I never really got into it like everyone else did, so maybe it was my mood at the time.

The Turn of the Screw, by Henry James, published in 1898. I read it as a kid, and it scared me so bad I couldn't sleep or be alone.
(< Specifically the short stories "Growing Pains" and "Soul Survivor") I'm always looking for good horror though. I LOVE it.
