So do you have a plan for when you would like to read any of these BRs we're doing? :) I have to play catch up and read 2 books but should be done by Tuesday. Then I have another BR set up for the 4th, other than that I'm wide open.

I have some BR's this week and challenge books to finish up but I was thinking maybe I could start this next week or over the weekend. Or I can wait, lol. How about you? Do you have plans for reading this yet?

I only got to Ch. 5 today and will probably only listen to another Chapter or so tonight.

Not a whole lot happening just yet. It kind of reminds me of though. 2 sisters trying to survive in occupied France.

How was The Nightingale?

I loved it! We had a BR (like 6 ppl) of it but just about everyone else either abandoned it or said it was too slow. I think only K-Terror and myself enjoyed it. But I was hooked from the start. I like most HF though and I think that was the problem for everyone else.

I just bought another HF by Jojo Moyes so I hope I like this one, lol. I've only read but I liked that one. *crosses fingers*

Do you listen to audiobooks?

I've tried them but I can't seem to make them work for me.

I understand. You probably read too fast to get too much enjoyment out of them.

Ch. 6 -(view spoiler)[ The Kommandant scares the shit out of me! It's like he's trying to create a false sense of security with Sophie by talking about art and stuff. But he killed that POW without hesitation and then he subtlety let her know that he knew about the pig. Yep, he's a scary SOB! (hide spoiler)]

Up to Ch. 10-(view spoiler)[ What a bunch of shitty people! I understand that people hate the Germans and that Sophie was spotted dancing with the enemy and how that might have looked. But, she has been really good to them all. She shares anything extra she might get her hands on, she gave up her pig for them! She is a woman whose husband has been gone for 2 years and she is trying to survive the best way she can. The Kommodant has been kind to her, even if he is scary. So she danced with him and thought of her husband. Did she really have a choice? He knew about the pig and that she was helping other people and can kill her or her family at any time because of this info. If he wants a dance, let him have it! Same with the other lady- what would you do to survive and to keep your family safe? And now that Lady is going to die because she was spying. It probably wasn't even much, just little things like getting those letters to Sophie.

And now, she gave her body up to him to save her husband. She will have to live with that and the self loathing but it was to save her husband! I would do it. The guy could rape her at any time anyways, or worse even, watch while his men do it. Publicly shame her or any number of terrible things. And he might still. He was enraged that she wasn't enjoying it. What kind of HELL is going to happen now?

I do have to say though, this is kind of slow moving to me. I'm hoping that changes soon. It's okay but I'm not captivated yet. (hide spoiler)]

Yeah he is! Reading books like this always makes me glad I live today and not back then.

How far are you? I have some running around to do but will pick it back up when I get back. What do you think so far? Are you liking it?

Okay, back to it again. I haven't had as much reading time today as I'd planned. Should finish it tomorrow.

Up to Ch. 15-(view spoiler)[ I feel so bad for Liv. Even after 4 years, she can't seem to move on from losing her husband. And it seems like she's about to lose everything else. And then she randomly meets Paul at a bar and they kind of have a connection. What's going to happen when he has to try and retrieve her painting for someone else? It's already breaking my heart for her. (hide spoiler)]

I just finished Chapter 8. The people in this book are driving me insane for their treatment of Sophie and Liliane.

The book itself is a bit slow for my liking but I'm plugging away! I'm worried about Sophie as she is about to go visit the Kommandant at night. I don't like where this is going but I understand she loves her husband.

It is a bit slow but at least it's not bad. You're about to get to a ____ part. It switches to the present in a few chapters, which is where I am now. But my husband played a dirty trick on me and I don't know if I'll get back to it tonight. He put one of my favorite movies on because he knows I can't resist. The Outlaw Josey Wales. I love love Clint cowboy movies and this one is my favorite.

I finished last night. I thought this was okay and am giving it 3 stars. It just never really gripped me, but it wasn't bad or anything. It actually makes me a little nervous about the other one I had planned to read for MnG- .

I completely agree! I have that book on my TBR as well so we could read it together if you'd like! I think maybe her more historical fiction books are meh meh meh.

Clint! He's nodding at me. It makes me think of Matthew McCanahardtospell last name in Dazed and Confused.

Husbands are tricksy like that!
