Fatal Justice (Fatal #2) by Marie Force [Start Date: October 01, 2015]

The first one was a quick read! I hope you enjoy it and join us for this one.

Aaah can't you wait for the buddy read in November?

I can't guarantee that I'll be able to check the book back out in a few weeks, as someone else will probably have it. And I can't afford the overdue charges ;-)

1. They had their big days on the same day. Did his outshine hers?
2. Was it a wise move to ask Terry to be his deputy chief of staff?
3. I can’t believe after all the discussion we had about their insta’ relationship and moving in together after just one week in book #1, Sam said that she wasn’t ready to move in. What do you think?
4. “That how you spend the first minutes of the New Year is how you’ll spend the year itself. It’s his not theory, it’s a popular saying, at least where I come from. Have you heard that before?
5. Do you or would you share a closet with your partner/husband/boyfriend?
6. Were you expecting Freddie to go through with it? He had waited 29 years, I’m not saying he should have done it before or he shouldn’t have done it now. I’m just thinking the author didn’t respect what he’d done and this kind of beliefs. I can’t describe it better, what did you think of how his deflowering (heehee) went?
7. Sam just left dinner party. If I were Nick, I’d have been pissed no matter the reason! What did you think of her confession and her dark secret? Is it a big deal that Sam is not a democrat?
8. Finally we have a dead body!!!!!! I was getting worried. It’s too soon to have suspect although that senior senator made a remark about shooting Julian! Thoughts on motive or suspect?

1. They had their big days on the same day. Did his outshine hers?
From the outside, I think his was a much bigger deal (President attending, photos, etc). But from the inside, hers was the more emotional big day (Dad and Sisters).
2. Was it a wise move to ask Terry to be his deputy chief of staff?
I personally liked it, I think Nick is confident that he was giving Terry a shot and if he failed that would be the end. I think he did it for the O'Connor's but at the same time knows Terry was trained for it. And if it worked out everyone would benefit. Plus Nick isn't thinking he's running for anything, so he can afford to take the chance.
3. I can’t believe after all the discussion we had about their insta’ relationship and moving in together after just one week in book #1, Sam said that she wasn’t ready to move in. What do you think?
Yeah I thought that was over the top stupid, give me a break. I'd be having a huge fight over her position on this. Instead he's stewing over it, slow boil here.
4. “That how you spend the first minutes of the New Year is how you’ll spend the year itself. It’s his not theory, it’s a popular saying, at least where I come from. Have you heard that before?
I had never heard of that saying I thought it was just a movie line, well I have one of my own. You don't turn to the New year on your calendar until the New year. Otherwise you'll have a year of bad luck. I like Nick's better.
5. Do you or would you share a closet with your partner/husband/boyfriend?
Have done both, having my own is much, much better. If it's in another room even better.
In some ways it was weird to have Freddie be a virgin, so I was expecting that to go at some point (from book 1). I don't' minimize his beliefs but I think in this day and age a man to have held it is pretty rare. Not impossible but rare, especially if he's personable, funny and hot. As to how it went about, I thought it was cute. Trying to get his courage up to enter the gym to have his "meet-cute" and her actually doing it. As for the sex scene it was well written and hot.
7. Sam just left dinner party. If I were Nick, I’d have been pissed no matter the reason! What did you think of her confession and her dark secret? Is it a big deal that Sam is not a democrat?
Sam is a confusing character, on one hand she's ultra sensitive and on the other combative. I get Nick's position, my mother would have killed me if I picked a fight with a guest in our home. I'd do the same with my kids. But on the other hand it was a health debate and I think people respect you for it. So I thought Nick was a little over the top with his annoyance, and maybe that's why he forgave her so quickly. What I like about this couple is it isn't perfectly smooth sailing Nick has a temper as does Sam. And it flashes and broils from time to time.
8. Finally we have a dead body!!!!!! I was getting worried. It’s too soon to have suspect although that senior senator made a remark about shooting Julian! Thoughts on motive or suspect?
How about all of Washington, lobbyist, you name it. Supreme Court Justices bring out the crazies because it's for life and they truly shape governments role in our moral code (Via landmark cases). It's a process that few pay attention to outside of the beltway, but I think inside it's everything.

1. Yes I think it did a bit but I also think he's a much bigger deal but nobody seemed to be jealous of each other and Nick brought up her accomplishments a lot.
2. I'm not sure about this one although I can see his reasons behind it, hopefully this will be the push Terry needs. If not well just get a book about whatever he does wrong :-)
3. I'm glad she's not moving in yet, I know they briefly knew each other but there's still loads to learn Plus it's not even like she lives far.
4. I may have heard it in passing but not something I've taken notice of. Guess I won't go to bed before midnight next year.
5. I guess. I live alone plus we don't really have those big closets here just normal wardrobes
6. I thought he talked himself out of it and was maybe going to get in to a relationship with her first especially after she mentioned the dates. Still think they're going to end up together by the way.
7. Sam was so rude at that dinner especially when they're people close to Nick. I don't know why it's such a big deal about who they support it's not like he's suddenly going to dump her because he found out so not sure why he needded to know do much.
8. :-( read your question before I got to that part (thought I'd finished ch 12). I knew he'd be the one killed from the beginning seemed obvious to me.

I'm in! I have NOT started yet...and have a packed week-end. Let me see which set I can do.

I'm in! I have NOT started yet...and have a packed week-end. Let me see which set I can do."
I'm on chapter 22, I'll do the second and leave the last one for you if that's OK :)

#1.Yes points for Nick :D
#2.LOL
#4.My grandmother used to say "if you are sleep the first few minutes of new year, you'll be sleeping the whole year".
#6. yes me too

9.I like seeing all the detectives and their support for Sam. I like that she’s not doing everything herself and we get to peek into others heads. I like to read more on Gonzo ,Jeanine and Freddie and their personal life. Do you?
10. Ah poor Duncan , he was beaten and then he heard his long-time lover is dead. At least the guy was arrested.
11. What did you think about how Sam got angry with Freddie for lying? What about Freddie going in without back-up? I’d thought him wiser than that. Do you think he’ll stay with Elin after all that happened? Sam is so cynical about Elin and Freddie , are you?
12. I hated how Nick broke up with Sam in the hospital. Of course he was under so much stress but still he had promised he’d stay with her no matter what. What about all the stuff they are hiding from each other? They screw up and then they say “I love you” as if saying that can solve everything, does it ?
13. Have you ever faked it ?LOL
14. Gah Stahl!!! I want to kick him in the butt! Do you think he is going to get killed in the future books?
15. Do you have any suspects? And now another murder! Poor Devon, do you think it’s the same killer?

Cool, ShoSho. I'll get started while I take another wack at organizing my kitchen.

1. They had their big days on the same day. Did his outshine hers?
Nick's probably outshown Sam's as far as the public/media attention but on a personal level Sam's was more of an accomplishment since it was a promotion she strove for while Nick's was thrust onto him due to a horrific tragedy.
2. Was it a wise move to ask Terry to be his deputy chief of staff?
That is yet to be determined, I hope it's for the best.
3. I can’t believe after all the discussion we had about their insta’ relationship and moving in together after just one week in book #1, Sam said that she wasn’t ready to move in. What do you think?
She wants to make sure. I'm surprised though and her reasoning seems flimsy, using Peter as a reason, I mean really? Peter was a controlling nut job. Nick's nothing like Peter!
4. “That how you spend the first minutes of the New Year is how you’ll spend the year itself. It’s his not theory, it’s a popular saying, at least where I come from. Have you heard that before?
Never heard that one before. So if you're drunk/tipsy from a little too much bubbly that's how you'll spend the rest of the year...uh....I don't think so! Unless you're already a drunk, lol!
5. Do you or would you share a closet with your partner/husband/boyfriend?
I already do, so that's a definite yes!
I was disappointed, I wanted him to stand up for his beliefs.
7. Sam just left dinner party. If I were Nick, I’d have been pissed no matter the reason! What did you think of her confession and her dark secret? Is it a big deal that Sam is not a democrat?
I think Nick put her on the spot at dinner too, made her uncomfortable. Good for Sam, she has a right to her "choice"! Isn't that what was thrown at her, woman's right to choose?
8. Finally we have a dead body!!!!!! I was getting worried. It’s too soon to have suspect although that senior senator made a remark about shooting Julian! Thoughts on motive or suspect?
No clue! But I'm wondering if Nick is going to be a suspect since he ran out of the house as soon as Julian left. Hmmmm.

#1.Yes I agree
#3.She probably thinks she doesn't know Nick enough to be sure they are not alike.
#4.lol
#6.Yes me too. If he ends up with Elin I'd be happy though.

I thought it was on audio. I thought Sue was listening

9.I like seeing all the detectives and their support for Sam. I like that she’s not doing everything herself and we get to peek into others heads. I like to read more on Gonzo ,Jeanine and Freddie and their personal life. Do you?
Yes, I like to see the way their lives/relationships impact each other.
10. Ah poor Duncan , he was beaten and then he heard his long-time lover is dead. At least the guy was arrested.
I felt so sorry for Duncan, the guilt he must have over the breakup. Glad the guy who beat him up was arrested, the jerk!
11. What did you think about how Sam got angry with Freddie for lying? What about Freddie going in without back-up? I’d thought him wiser than that. Do you think he’ll stay with Elin after all that happened? Sam is so cynical about Elin and Freddie , are you?
I think Sam went overboard! Freddie should have called for backup!! He was trying to prove himself to Sam! I think Elin will be Freddie's girlfriend! Hope so.
12. I hated how Nick broke up with Sam in the hospital. Of course he was under so much stress but still he had promised he’d stay with her no matter what. What about all the stuff they are hiding from each other? They screw up and then they say “I love you” as if saying that can solve everything, does it ?
I didn't like that he broke up with her like that but I didn't like the way she treated him when she told him Julian died either. She was so professional and almost cold. They both are still adjusting to the newness of them as a couple and with all the crap that's been going on since the first day they reunited after six years, it's been non-stop drama!
13. Have you ever faked it ?LOL
Mums the word!
14. Gah Stahl!!! I want to kick him in the butt! Do you think he is going to get killed in the future books?
I think he'll be fired, hope so! Or at least forced to retire, the rat!
15. Do you have any suspects? And now another murder! Poor Devon, do you think it’s the same killer?
No clue! Maybe Devon's boyfriend? Botched murder suicide?

OMG, I bought it a while back. I wonder why audible isn't supporting it now? The good thing is I didn't lose my copy. Wonder if they are in a contractual re-negotiation. MF has gotten a lot more popular in the last few years.

In terms of the questions so far, I agree with most of the comments:
1. Sam's big day had less pomp and circumstance but more meaning.
2. I think that bringing Terry in is a setup for a future book, or books
3. Sam is all over the place with this relationship. While Peter made her question her instincts, she has no reason to do so with
6. I thought that the Freddie situation was questionable. He likes Elin, and I'm not convinced that he had to go through with things. It may have just been a way to introduce more sex into the book though. What a stud he is.
7. I thought Sam's reaction at the dinner party was not consistent. Yes, she has a personal history, but so what? She didn't have to talk about her own life. And her discomfort with the whole rarefied air of the politically powerful didn't make sense to me either.
8. While I wasn't sure at this point who did it, I thought the senior senator's comment was to obviously a red herring.
9. I also really enjoyed the support Sam has at work. That was awesome.
10. Yes, I also felt bad for Duncan, but didn't get why the guy would spend the night with him and beat him up. Based on the guy's response, he wasn't ashamed of the sex side of things.
11. Sam's reaction was tough, but in keeping with her character. I expected that they would talk at some point and Freddie would come clean. The whole I want to get the evidence and impress Sam bit was a bit dumb for him. But, I guess he's feeling a bit not himself anyway.
12. Nick's reaction was way too extreme! I guess he felt like he'd almost lost 3 of the most important people in his life in the space of a month. So, that is one excuse, but to not even talk to her? Not okay.
14. I think Stahl will be a thorn for a while. He's so hostile, and it doesn't seem to be based enough on anything, given her real record. There must be something deeper going on, and I'm wondering if he's going to go off the deep end (or be dependent on Sam's help) at some point.
15. My first thought was that the murders were unrelated. However, when they talked about having trouble finding his dad, my suspicions changed.

Silvia, I wondered about that scene too. But, he stayed around until others arrived. (view spoiler)

Silvia, I wondered about that scene too. But, he stayed around u..."
Lara, Not sure, could be but (view spoiler)

2. Was it a wise move to ask Terry to be his deputy chief of staff? I sure didn't expect that!
3. I can’t believe after all the discussion we had about their insta’ relationship and moving in together after just one week in book #1, Sam said that she wasn’t ready to move in. What do you think? Probably a wise move IRL, but gives the reader something to ponder.
4. “That how you spend the first minutes of the New Year is how you’ll spend the year itself. It’s his not theory, it’s a popular saying, at least where I come from. Have you heard that before? Never heard it, and thinking back over a couple of New Year's parties, I'm awfully glad it didn't turn out that way for me :-)
5. Do you or would you share a closet with your partner/husband/boyfriend? NEVER
You were right, ShoSho! I wasn't so sure she'd come back. She did seem a little 'toned down' in this book, to me.
7. Sam just left dinner party. If I were Nick, I’d have been pissed no matter the reason! What did you think of her confession and her dark secret? Is it a big deal that Sam is not a democrat? It was a difficult choice for her, she must have felt it was the only one. Nick was very understanding of both her secret and her behavior at the party, although it doesn’t surprise me that politicians enjoy debating politics from whichever side.
8. Finally we have a dead body!!!!!! I was getting worried. It’s too soon to have suspect although that senior senator made a remark about shooting Julian! Thoughts on motive or suspect? I have no clue at this point in the book who would be suspect.
