However, I think Lin Su's redeeming feature (besides her caring for her son and others) is her awareness of how her behavior sometimes hinders her. This means she's not just stubborn and convinced she's right. Many books have heroines who gone on in that vein for most of the book, then have to have some major event occur for them to admit they were too harsh on a lot of things. With Lin Su, she addresses each event as it arises, and is so careful (and afraid) that she seems to just be an overly uptight person.
There is a little subplot with Gwen and Norm, Seth's parents and Iris's in-laws, that is hysterical. And there are little updates/reminders about pretty much every other character who has been in the series. Given that the cast is getting really large, that's a good thing.
By the end of the book, I was a bit disappointed that some of the bigger events I saw on the horizon hadn't happened yet. They did occur, but I felt they got short shrift and the book ended a bit abruptly as a result.

Yes, this one really takes it time getting going. I had mixed feelings about how it going too.

I agree. The way he acts is so true to children who feel loved, but are insecure situations. He's doing his best to help take care of things, but is also a growing boy. I love how open his personality is.

eeeep! I wouldn't say it is!

Not a good idea for this series! The characters were set up in the previous book and that's typical for Thunder Point.

Good idea. This book in particular includes updates on a lot of previous characters, as well as reference to events in recent books in the series.

CD, if you want to do a "buddy read" of the fourth one (#4) in the series, I'm game. I had too much going on in life to do it when the group was doing it.

Or maybe if would have, but it wouldn't have mattered. I did see it coming though. This book was very predictable that way.

The ending was too rushed. The book went on and on about her family and past and we only saw a glimpse when they showed up. I wanted to know more. It's always the same with Robyn Carr's book and I'm usually OK with it but this book really needed closure.

I didn't like her that much and the move was just wrong!

T..."
ShoSho, I found I enjoyed the slow pace in which not much really happened except normal dramas. However, I agree that given how long it took for the relationship to develop, several key events happened in the last few pages with absolutely no opportunity for reaction. That was really disappointing.

But Blake is certain he can break through her barriers and be the man she and Charlie need. When faced with a terrible situation, Blake comes to the rescue, and Lin Su realizes he just might be the man of her dreams. Together, they recognize that family is who you choose it to be.
