Posting the blurb.....
In Beatrice Prior's dystopian Chicago world, society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue—Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). On an appointed day of every year, all sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives. For Beatrice, the decision is between staying with her family and being who she really is—she can't have both. So she makes a choice that surprises everyone, including herself.
During the highly competitive initiation that follows, Beatrice renames herself Tris and struggles alongside her fellow initiates to live out the choice they have made. Together they must undergo extreme physical tests of endurance and intense psychological simulations, some with devastating consequences. it's a great series and the movies are also very good.

from the summary it sort of sounds like Hunger games and the giver roled into one, but that's a preconceived notion I have never read this book and can't wait to read also after October 5th is good for me too within the first weekend is great
I think then maybe we can start in the 2nd or 3rd week of October?

I loved this trilogy! So many people were saying they hated the last book that it put me off reading it. When I eventually did, I wondered why I ever read reviews!Enjoy guys... It's brilliant! :)

I am going to start reading it this weekend. I had want to read in it yesterday, but it's on my Nook which needed to be charged. Curse technology!
yes technology can be overwhelming sometimes
And isn't it funny that this book falls under the dystopian and science fiction genres
now that you mentioned it's very ironic. I don't know what it is but I'm obsessed with dystopian. it just makes me feel better their like the best stories besides fantasy at least for me
I've read upto chapter-10. I'm totally loving it. @Gabrielle You are really going to love it if dystopian books are your favourite.
I'm at chapter 8 right now and I would have to say that I am deeply intrigued by what's going to happen next. And I don't want to put it down but unfortunately I've got some assignments to complete, so I'll have to wait for a while before I can read again.
I've gotten to the part where Beatrice's test results have come back inconclusive. The fractions kinda remind me of high school cliques. Kinda?
I've read upto chapter-30. Janessa, I honestly didn't think anything about high school cliquès. But, you bring it up and I feel that yes, the factions sort of resemble that. If having a faction helps people with same interests/ qualities to come together, it also isolates people from different factions. Every faction even has its archenemy (sort of). So, I guess you're right.

I read the first book. Found it just okay. Is the second one better?
