Lee French | 32 comments Until I joined this group, I actually had no idea that Amazon didn't cross-post reviews to other country sites. What a crock. Bastards.

I didn't realise Amazon Canada was a stand alone entity on Amazon and that you could post reviews there.... Always thought that Canada got lumped in with the US reviews. In the same way that New Zealand would be tacked on as another state of Oz if there was a stand alone Australian site... :)

Scott Spotson (scottspotson) Again great ideas. I could do another "Four Kings" book using same concept but very different characters and different set-up. So two books, one for the young and adventure lovers, and one for the studied reader who loves history and philosophy. Who knows, maybe I'll hire YOU as editor! Food for thought.

Peter Prasad (goodreadscompeter_prasad) | 50 comments Scott - I sweat bullets for six days trying to write a review for you that might have some value, and reward the reader too. I think you understand my intent and for that I am grateful and shall now go dance naked down the street. On'ya Canook.

David - Many thanks for your review. You seemed to have totally understood what was written - and why. I'm unsure if other reviewers have the same level of understanding - but as you neatly put it, one person's turkey sandwich is anothers steak dinner. Having said that, I've appreciated all comments from this group, and has greatly helped me to figure how to write the follow on story. So, once again, thank you.

Emma Jaye | 3693 comments Currently round one has been completed by everyone, but we've got four days to the end of round two and there are still 6 reviews outstanding according to my records.
If Ronin, Lee, Peter, FS, Tony, or Kevin have done their round two reviews, let me know and I'll cross you off my list.

Thanks folks

message 158: by Lee (new)

Lee French | 32 comments I've actually finished them all. Round 2 is here: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

THANK YOU All - I've received some great reviews here.

I haven't seen Peter's review of my book anywhere either.

message 167: by Ronin (new)

Ronin (trishaalindsey) | 20 comments I will post my review on Goodreads for my Round 2, they have asked me not to post to Amazon or Goodreads, but per instructions, I will post to Goodreads alone before weeks end. Thanks, E!

Emma Jaye | 3693 comments All reviews need to be posted to goodreads, those of three and above also to Amazon.com and .uk
If an author requests that a reviewer do anything different, either to change a review, or not to post in in the agreed manner, please get in touch with the group moderator, which in the case of this group, is me.
We all get reviews we'd rather not sometimes, and it smarts, but if you put your book out there in the public domain, not everyone is going to like it.
All you can do as a reviewer is to review the book as a help to other readers, not as a dig at the author, even if their personal beliefs or subject matter is very different to your own preferences.

Thanks for clarifying this. This independence is essential to the integrity of this Goodreads review group.

Peter Prasad (goodreadscompeter_prasad) | 50 comments I read Ronin's review. It gives me heart. I have to write a 2-star review for another book in this review group and I HATE writing negative reviews. However, there are rules about what makes a Good Read. Please honor your readers by knowing them.

message 175: by Ronin (new)

Ronin (trishaalindsey) | 20 comments I don't write regative reviews. This is the 2nd one, I think. I try to connect with authors instead in private messages and see where they were coming from. Maybe I misinterpreted some point or missed something. Usually there are enough negative reviews, I don't need to pile on. But the rules stated I had to read and post all of my reviews to Goodreads regardless of the review stars. I don't expect every author to be a James Patterson, with top notch editing teams behind them. A tight story, with minimal grammatical errors, in a genre that I read is usually enough. Every author is learning and growing on the way, it gets better with time, research and keep writing! Be encouraged!

message 176: by Lee (new)

Lee French | 32 comments I didn't used to write negative reviews, and I still shy away from it generally. However, I've come to think that it's more useful to be polite and clearly state what you didn't like than to say nothing at all. What I don't like about a book may be something you do like or don't find as bad. From the explanation, a potential reader can judge for themselves.

Short, empty bad reviews, or just an unexplained rating, though, I don't do that.

I've really enjoyed reading your reviews, Lee. You are thorough and even-handed and you give constructive criticism. There's an art to writing a good review.

David - thank you for this thoughtful review. I also appreciated the extra comments on Goodreads.
You'd be interested to know that my daughter suggested that the Annie character was just like me. I don't see it myself.... :)

F.S. Fayth (fsfayth) | 24 comments A question to all - how do I change the default book cover into the actual cover ?

message 183: by Kevin (new)

Kevin Futers (gruffling) | 33 comments I have posted the review of David's book, "Heaven, the Gift you cannot refuse"

I tried to give it two stars, trying to tell myself that at least the internal logic of the argument merited it, as I have only ever given one star to books I have truly hated, and in spite of everything this is better than a book like Orcs. I have noted that my review may be biased by my own religious outlook. https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Sorry David.

Sometimes on Amazon UK they will give reviews from Amazon.com as well, but not always.

Hi F.S.

Thanks for inviting me to your Q & A for Innocent, Vulnerable and Legally Abducted. It's a good idea and combined with a giveaway could maximise your marketing opportunities. You only need to give away a couple of print copies and you will find that many people might want to enter the giveaway. It worked well for our first novel. The prequel that I have up here for review is too short, alas to be a print book so that I can't take advantage of this GR feature.

Cheers,
Alison

Round 3 of my review book has just been posted on GR -
https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

As its only 2-star rating due to my not understanding the subject, does the author wish me to place this on Amazon ?

message 192: by Emma (new)

Emma Jaye | 3693 comments Thanks FS, I'm sure Tony will let you know whether he'd like to to post or not, but unless he gives you the go ahead, leave it as goodreads only.

Emma Jaye | 3693 comments Hi folks , end date for round three today, and we are all up to date for round two except for Peter's review for Brenda, and we are all up to date for round three apart from Tony's review for Ronin.
We have four past the finishing post too!

Well done everyone.
