Happy Reading Everybody!
Hiya, this sounds great. I'm never quite sure what to do in a buddy read so it will be good to have a guided one. I'm in. :)
Have fun reading this peeps! This is a great trilogy and Tahereh Mafi's writing style was awesome.P.S
- She loves confusing readers. :)

Yay good to hear, and thanks for the heads up. As long as no one minds me asking lots of questions I don't mind a little confusion :-)

You'll enjoy the confusion. lol :)

Hey Rachel, generally in the buddy reads we read at our own pace, and then comment on the buddy thread with anything we think whilst reading the book - things that shock us or we don't understand etc. I'm sure you'll get the hang of it ☺ Just remember to hide any (view spoiler)

The first time I read this, I actually didn't like it but I want to give it a try again since I hear good reviews with the rest of the books in this series. Can I still join even if I'm just re-reading it?

The strikeouts were pretty annoying! I think it's to illustrate Juliette's mental state at the beginning of the book

I've noticed people talking about those before. A lot of people think they're good because you know what she's really thinking. I'm starting soon!

@Sarah They aren't! Sure you know what she is thinking but you can derive all that from subtext abyway!!

Something like that! And she leaves a lot of commas out, it's kind of weird. I don't know why though. :/

@RachelYou're mirroring my thoughts on the strikeouts and comma-less sentences. I really wanted to draw commas into the book LOL But that would be bad since it's the library's!
@Chrisinta Aha! I so want to be able to draw the commas in too. Why aren't they written!? It's simply infuriating!?@Sarah It isn't that late. 11 o'clock now. But I have exams tomorrow so I should sign off.
Night everyone!! :)
I guess so. But when you talk in you mind - mental or not - you still use commas (or pauses) don't you!?

Depends how much I've had to drink ;)
I think we're supposed to feel like she's a bit jumbled and confused though, and that things are running through her head so fast that she doesn't have time for pauses.

The last time she did, it was an accident, but The Reestablishment locked her up for murder. No one knows why Juliette’s touch is fatal. As long as she doesn’t hurt anyone else, no one really cares. The world is too busy crumbling to pieces to pay attention to a 17-year-old girl. Diseases are destroying the population, food is hard to find, birds don’t fly anymore, and the clouds are the wrong color.
The Reestablishment said their way was the only way to fix things, so they threw Juliette in a cell. Now so many people are dead that the survivors are whispering war – and The Reestablishment has changed its mind. Maybe Juliette is more than a tortured soul stuffed into a poisonous body. Maybe she’s exactly what they need right now.
Juliette has to make a choice: Be a weapon. Or be a warrior.
