One of the things that stood out for me was that Michael knew about Ebenezer and Thomas being his grandfather and brother.(I thought nobody knew ).(view spoiler) He told M everything .I’m thinking it will come to play later. Anything stood for you? Love it when they talk! I can't remember at what point Harry told Michael about his relatives.
28.Molly has not told her family about being the winter lady. What was that other thing Michael was talking about? The look of understanding that came over his face?

31.Okay this pregnancy thing is the weirdest thing I’ve read in Dresden books. I literally was ROFLMAO ! It kinda makes sense and at the same time it doesn’t .Demonreach told him he warns away the creature that is causing Harry’s headaches. It bargained with Harry’s life .They needed its help to save his life and its price was that Harry would not be told about it. But why? What do you think about the whole thing and another offspring? I thought it funny too, at least he's had practice making a vessel for a spirit of intellect. Bob's allegiance goes to whomever possesses the skull, will Harry's daughter be the same or will being his daughter make her different from Bob?
32. What did that snowflake silver pin mean? What do you think about what he said about choosing between Molly and Karrin? And what did his subconscious meant by “Don’t forget the dream .Don’t forget how it ended “? and that all the dreams were him? Still think he communicated with Molly, maybe the message was that Murphy would be. The death of him?

That was a fabulous conversation and it shows that Michael really understands Harry's guilt issues. I loved the fact that he called Harry on his BS.
It is interesting that Michael knows about Thomas and Ebenezer when they don't know about the relationship themselves. I'm sure it will come up at some point but probably not in this book

The Holy Grail gives eternal life to anyone who drinks from it but Nicodemus already has that ... perhaps he wants it to circumvent the threat posed by the Judas rope around his neck.
Deidre is trying to put a wedge between Harry and Mab but Harry's isn't falling for it.

Do you mean the Genoskwa? I thought the Bigfoot was the forest person who Harry helped out in one of the novellas? I really wish JB didn't put in references to the short stories - not everyone reads them. He also does it with Butters and the Batman reference :0(
Anyhoo ... I think the Genoskwa is there to get past Cerberus, the three headed dog that guards the gate to the underworld. In this book, he probably guards Hades's vault.

Haven't made up my mind about this yet. On the one hand, it is pretty ridiculous, but on the other it has tremendous potential for future books. I'm also wondering if it won't be connected to how Harry finally finds a way out of his debt to Mab... Mab seems intent on Harry believing its a parasite that needs to be destroyed...

The snowflake is a representation of the Winter court so it means that his subconscious has also been affected by his being the Winter Knight.
If Harry gets into a relationship with Molly I'm going to stop reading this series! There is a limit! OK, calming down now...
At the end, the dream Karrin turns into one of the Denarians - I really, really hope that is not foreshadowing!

Lisa Kay’s Discussion Questions for Chapters 29-37 36. How awful was Chapter 29? Karrin finally wields one of the swords (Fidelacchius, the Sword of Faith) and it then loses it!! I had higher hopes for her first foray. Nicodemus tricked his way out of that one. I wish there was a way the Knights of the Cross could see into the heart of someone who was surrendering, discern if they were legitimate and not lying. So unfair. Having learned from this experience, will she pick another Sword of the Cross? Comments. I never thought Murphy was going to be a Knight, now she definitely won't want to.
37. BTW, those gunshots into Murphy’s abdomen just about killed me. Thank goodness Karrin was wearing Kevlar. (Although, when I was reading that section, I was too upset to even consider Kevlar.) Were you as worried as I was that she was mortally injured? I was shocked but knowing Murphy knew she must have been wearing kevlar.
38. I didn’t know it was possible to hate a fictional character as much as I hate Nicodemus. He’s awful! Were you surprised that Michael offered himself up in Karrin’s place? (Goodness, I certainly remember what happened to Shiro.) Then – shock – the archangel Uriel stepping in is even more stunning. (That sleet stopping in mid-air was pretty freaky, too.) Uriel loans Michael his Grace and he is then able to wield Amoracchius (The Sword of Love) again. What will be the consequences of this? Will Michael misuse it? Will Uriel fall? I want Nick dead and gone for good! I was surprised by Uriel's intervention but I don't think Michael will misuse it.
39. But the real shocker: Michael is going to be Harry’s back-up in this heist!! Comments.I like that he has Harry's back!
40. Aww! Maggie and Harry finally interact. Such a wonderful scene, however bittersweet. It seems as if Molly has been laying the groundwork for hero worship. Maggie’s pretty adorable – and so proud of Mouse. No questions here; just my opinions. Very cute! Hope to see more of Maggie in the future.

Talk about temptation. Why was Grey muttering about getting caught? Was he really “too Harvey,” or was it something else? I think he was being too Harvey from what we've seen of him, he isn't panic or anxiety prone.
49. Tessa in mantis form shows up. Ick. BOOK QUOTE: “I have not invested fifteen centuries to see it thrown away!” What exactly does that mean? That was so frustrating! I want to know what she meant!
50. What did you think of Michael’s “choose carefully” speech? Was that Uriel speaking thought him? Think it fell on deaf ears? It would be awesome if he convinced someone...

It bothered me too! A lot! If Butters hadn't interfered ,Murphy wouldn't be badly injured and the sword was in one piece .I don't care how everything worked out in the end. Butters is my least favorite characters in this book.

I was shocked when Fiddelacheus was destroyed...shocked, I tell you! But...I have a feeling we haven't seen the last of it.
It really annoys me that the Knights are bound by the "show mercy and forgiveness" thing. It allows the Denarians to walk all over them like Nicodemus did. I'm all for turning the other cheek and forgiving when forgiveness is deserved (like with Sanya) but true Evil must be fought with every weapon at ones disposal!

I wasn't surprised by Michael's actions. He won't misuse Uriel's Grace and cause the angel to fall. It does bug me that Uriel is an Archangel but never seems able to do very much...

That has got to be the best moment in the entire series! Maggie is simply the sweetest and when she asked Harry if he was mad at her, I actually teared up...

He's not ashamed of who he is. I also agree with him that God won't let him get into trouble - his identity will be concealed in some way

Lauren's Answers to Joann's DQs for chapters 39-4452. Harry proclaims his knowledge that his usefulness is at an end when he breaks through the Ice Wall and proceeds to outlines Nicodemus' plan to get rid of him. Why would he reveal himself to Nicodemus? Although Harry insisted only he could find the way home, do you think Nicodemus had an alternate plan?
I'm 100% Nicodemus has an alternate plan. He's not the type of person to be caught unprepared and he knew that Harry might die or betray him
53. Deidre's hair lifts Harry up to view the ice block field - very creepy! Did you have misgivings about Harry stepping onto her razor blade strands of hair? Any thoughts on the rambling, megolith-size blocks of ice.

This was a great showdown. All I could think of is which one of the characters is going to dispose of the Genoskwa

I didn't see this one coming but shouldn't have been surprised considering the type of person Nicodemus is. Never thought I would feel sorry for Deidre
56. Holy Moly, what did you think the golden light was? The statues of the three women clearly represent the Queens of Fairie - what relevance do you suppose they have in the vault of Hades?
The statues started me thinking that there was some connection between Hades and Mab
57. Along with the Holy Grail there are four other holy relics displayed. Harry realizes it's not a vault but an armory. What did you think then?

58. The man in black engulfs Harry in black fire. What went through you mind at that point? We finally meet Hades who offers Harry the rules of hospitality and settles in for a nice one-on-one. Why do you think Hades would want a one-on-one with Harry? What do you think the connection is between Hades and the Queens of Fairie?
I love Hades. He is my favorite of the Greek God. He is always so maligned in popular fiction but Butcher is correct - he is the least vindictive and manipulative of the Gods in the actual myths

That is was about time someone put a few cold, hard truths to Nicodemus but that it was also a waste of breath - of course, that wasn't Harry's goal so overall it was quite a clever move
62. Nicodemus breaks his pact with Mab and frees Harry from his obligation. Any thoughts? What did you think of the battle between Nicodemus and the Genoskwa against Harry and Michael? Were you surprised that Michael offered a chance of hope to Nicodemus?
Not surprised at Michael - he just does what the naive Knights always do - offers redemption to someone who doesn't want it
63. When things go bad in a Dresden novel, they can always get worse. Hannah Asher carries Lashiel's coin. What did you think? (I really hoped Hannah would turn into one of the good guys.)
While I guessed that the woman scorned was Lasciel, I didn't think Hannah carried the coin. I also liked Hannah but there was still something about her that made me suspicious. I was the same way about Elaine and Lucio...
64. What were your thoughts when Harry declares "Game Over?" What do you think he meant?

65. Okay, going back in time three days to Mac's bar. Did you find it interesting that Mab showed Mac more respect than when she had met with Nicodemus? I think we still have lots to learn about Mac. What did you think of Harry's meeting with Kringle?

I knew it!!! Never thought he was the bad guy and after giving it some thought, I realized its because Goodman reminds me of Kincaid. Yes, he's a mercenary but there is also something honorable about him. He always said that his loyalty was to the person who hired him first and that was Harry...

70. Butters to the rescue … again. The whole thing with Fidelaccheus goes off so perfectly and it seems that the sword deliberately bypassed Charity’s hand in favor of Butters’. What do you think of the the sword’s choice of new knight of the Cross?
71. Nicodemus and Tessa manage to escape! Argh!! Comments.
72. Harry’s new offspring has taken up residence in Bob’s alternate skull. Thoughts.

Lots going on in these action packed chapters so I’ll just keep it to the main points:
67. What did you think of the comparison between Harry’s view/use of magic and Hannah’s?
I liked the comparison. Of course, I like that Harry enjoyed his magic and considered it a gift.
68. Genoskwa/Ursiel are killed when a huge block falls on them - wasn’t that a little anti-climactic?
Definitely! I expected a bit more to their demise.
69. Isn’t Nicodemus’s attack on the Carpenter house a little on the vindictive side? Is this really in line with his personality? Why has Tessa joined forces with him again? Do you think she know Nicodemus killed their daughter?
Very vindictive! Lots of revenge in this book, I thought. Hmmm… I guess Harry really pushed his button there at the end, with the talk of his daughter. And **smacksforeheadandsaysduh!** I didn’t even think to wonder if Tessa know about Nicodemus’ part in her daughter’s death!
70. Butters to the rescue … again. The whole thing with Fidelaccheus goes off so perfectly and it seems that the sword deliberately bypassed Charity’s hand in favor of Butters’. What do you think of the sword’s choice of new Knight of the Cross?
Yes, the sword deliberate skipped over Charity. I like it, actually. However, I don’t know what the Jewish community will think about this; probably a mixed bag of opinions. I do worry about him, though; dangerous work!
71. Nicodemus and Tessa manage to escape! Argh!! Comments.
Yeah, I was shaking my head over that, but I guess JB wants them for the big showdown.
72. Harry’s new offspring has taken up residence in Bob’s alternate skull. Thoughts.
Cute. I hope she’ll be okay and an asset to him. I hope she isn’t used as leverage, but she has that potential. I wonder if Bob will be jealous? Or happy for the company?

I know! Big shock, there. I was also puzzled over the payment. Kringle has some explaining to do, which he probably won’t. I did like what he said to Harry about not choosing his father.
74. Would Uriel have attacked Goodman if he crossed the threshold - why?
Because he’s a Naagloshii? Or they have a personal history? **shrugs** I don’t know. More questions that need to be answered!
75. Waldo Butters is now a Knight of the Cross. Do you think that Shiro’s sword was deliberately destroyed so that Butters would get one that suited his own personality? What do you think of the lightsaber/Star Wars connection?
Oh, that’s a good theory! I like it. The lightsaber/SW connection didn’t bother me. I would say I’m neutral on it.
76. Turns out the Mab, Marcone and Hades were behind it all from the start. They set Nicodemus up because he broke the accords. Do you agree that the end result is a fate worse than death for Nick?
Yes, surprised me that the three of them were in on it together. Nah, I think Nick will be back, even more vengeful.
77. Mab is miffed with Harry and Molly after the talk with Marcone. Should they be worried?
Yes. I don’t think it is wise to piss Mab off, even a little.
78. Molly’s magic is no longer constrained by the limitations of being a wizard. Thoughts.
I don’t know! I read that part several times, trying to pick up the ramifications. Scary? Yes, because Harry is worried.

Yeah, this irked me. I’m hoping he won’t be able to do anything with it. I got that Nicodemus wanted the knife, too. I can’t imagine what the two together could do.

Yes, I loved that scene. He does deserve it! I hope he and Karrin make a couple, but I think we have a long row to hoe there…

No not really in line with his personality . I thought Nico had told her that Harry has been the one who killed Deidre . So no I don't think she knew Nico killed their daughter

Believe it or not I'm not happy with Harry's and Karrin's relationship! but I hope I will change my mind about it in the next book
