ShoSho’s Questions & Lisa Kay’s Answers for Chapters 20-28
27. I loved it that Harry went to Michael and their whole conversation. One of the things that stood out for me was that Michael knew about Ebenezer and Thomas being his grandfather and brother. (I thought nobody knew ). (view spoiler) He told Michael everything. I’m thinking it will come to play later. Anything stood for you?
Yes, I’ve always loved Harry’s conversations with Michael so much. I did wonder how Michael knew about Ebenezer & Thomas, especially since Harry evaded that part when telling Michael about his “family tree.” So, I was racking my brain as to when that happened. Hmmm… I hadn’t thought about how this will play out later; I was just thinking he went for sanctuary.
The bottle opener stood out to me. LOL! I bet it was really given to Michael by Odin. Also what Michael said about why others didn’t visit Harry on Deamonreach; that makes perfect sense to me. Love Michael’s “retirement package.” That makes me feel much better about Maggie.
28. Molly has not told her family about being the Winter Lady. What was that other thing Michael was talking about? The look of understanding that came over his face?
I was a bit surprised Michael didn’t know about Molly, and I didn’t know what Michael meant about, “Behind us now, and it all worked out.” Totally clueless there.
29. We know more about how they are going to get to Hades’ vault. The three gates (view spoiler) and the Holy Grail. Why does he need it? What can he do with it that Mab wants to prevent? Saving the world? What about what Deidre told Harry about Mab’s intentions?
Most people believe the Holy Grail can grant the holder one wish. Or give eternal life. Nicodemus e already has a good handle on longevity, so I don’t think that’s it. I don’t believe for a minute he plans on “saving” the world. More like destroy it! So, it must have something to do with world domination. Mab wouldn’t like that. Deidre was just trying to cause Harry to doubt Mab, maybe in preparations to sway him to their evil side. Or just throw him off in general.
30. Harry really needs to think before he talks!!! What do you think about the Bigfoot and his duties on this mission and his strength and his abilities with magic?
LOL! Yes, he does. I was worried about Bigfoot, but I’m thinking he showed all his cards to Harry, which could work in Harry’s favor.
31. Okay, this pregnancy thing is the weirdest thing I’ve read in Dresden books. I literally was ROFLMAO! It kinda makes sense and at the same time it doesn’t. Demonreach told him he warns away the creature that is causing Harry’s headaches. It bargained with Harry’s life .They needed its help to save his life and its price was that Harry would not be told about it. But why? What do you think about the whole thing and another offspring?
I was completely stunned and saying, “WTH?” when I read that part; I thought JB had gone off the deep end. I did reread it, however, and took it a little bit better. It does make more sense on second exposure to it. I don’t know the whys… so, I can’t answer that part. I was wondering how many offspring Harry was going to end up with by the end of this series! LOL!
32. What did that snowflake silver pin mean? What do you think about what he said about choosing between Molly and Karrin? And what did his subconscious meant by, “Don’t forget the dream. Don’t forget how it ended.”? And that all the dreams were him?
I associate the snowflake with Winter; not sure what it means, other than he’s on Winter’s side, so I’d take anything he said with a grain of salt. I think “choosing” between Molly and Karrin was part libido and part reality; Harry will probably have to make this decision in the future, from the way JB is setting us up. Well, the dream ended with Murphy pulling the trigger. So, I’m thinking a skinwalker takes over Murphy’s appearance before the end of this book. **shrugs** Just a guess.
33. Butters is changing, too. Right now I don’t like him anymore! He should pay attention to what Murphy told him about Faith in people. Do you think Murphy is right and Butters needs to decide?
Yes, I agree. It must have been a really bad year.
34. They are going to infiltrate Marcone’s secured facility! It seems Nick is not taking Marcone seriously. It’s going to go very bad, very, very bad! Comments?
Yeah, can’t be good. I was totally shocked by this. What is with Marcone and all the religious artifacts, anyway?
35. What was Butters thinking eavesdropping on Nick’s crew and taking Bob with him AND going to Michael’s place afterwards? He’s gone totally crazy! It’s about time Harry gets Bob off his hands. What do you think happens next?
Yeah, Butters has gone a little crazy, and Bob sounds like he’s right there in the thick of it. However, a part of me was glad that he was brave enough to continue the fight against evil. I haven’t a clue as to what happens next. I haven’t guessed anything right so far.

Lisa Kay’s Discussion Question for Chapters 11-19 18. Well, JB reminds us that Harry is most likely paralyzed from the waist down. Just a theory, but could the parasite have anything to do with that? Also, why was Karrin frowning when Valmont said she was good with Harry burning Nicodemus?
That's right, without being the Winter Knight, Harry would be in a whole world of hurt. I have to wonder what's going to happen to him once he's no longer the WK - I can't see JB leaving him paralyzed for the rest of his life. I'm not sure that the parasite has anything to do with it. If it did then it have to be Mab's doing...
Maybe Karrin was frowning because she was surprised Valmont didn't move to oppose Harry and was wondering why.
19. Butters mentions Pet Sematary and tells Harry he’s changed, becoming a little self-centered and fey payment/favor oriented, causing Butters to have his doubts. Sounds like he had a rough year. Do you blame him? The good news is Bob gets a back-up home. Comments.
It certainly seems as though Butters had a bad year. I can't blame him for thinking the way he does.
Yay Bob - we need more Bob.
20. Is there more to the story of why Mister disappears when Andi shows up?
I'm not sure.
21. Did Harry really communicate with Molly via a dream? Guess we’ll find out, when – or if she shows up later. And why is she two miles under ice? What crazy mission does Mab have her on?
I'm hoping that Harry and Molly really did communicate through that dream. Maybe Mab wanted Molly out of the way so she could safely (no pun intended) put Harry between a rock and a hard place without interference.
22. Man-oh-man! JB is cruel! Cruel, cruel, CRUEL! Did you figure that bedroom scene with Murphy was a dream so soon after the one with Molly, or were you not bamboozled? BTW, was that Mab who did that? If not, then who is the woman scorned? What about the real Murphy’s cryptic remark upon leaving the bedroom?
I thought at first it was a dream and then changed my mind, boy was I...gahhh...just no words. If I were back in the day when I actually held the book, it would have gone flying across the room.
I don't think it was Mab. I think we'll find out eventually who the woman scorned is.

25. Well, I wasn’t expecting Harvey Morrison to be killed by warrior ghouls – or did they? Was it Goodman Grey? (BTW, I don’t like the way he looks at Karrin. Just saying.) Or was it more likely Nicodemus’s daughter Deirdre? Or his estranged wife, Polonius Lartessa – AKA Tessa? Imariel? Anduriel?
It could have been any of them.

I think there may be alot of truth in that quote. For those who are left justice sometimes provides closure.

#26 – That quote really pushed my button and I’ve had a lot of thoughts on it, flip-flopping and looking at it from all angles. My first thought was, “The dead deserve justice!” but the more I thought about it, I’m seeing that it is the living that need closure. The dead go on to a better place with not worries about revenge.

Lauren's Answers to ShoSho’s Questions for chapters 1-101.It’s been more than a year since the end of the last book .It’s a really long time and apparently nothing has happened .It seems Harry’s been stuck on the island and been practicing Parkour !!!What do think about this big jump in time?
If I remember correctly most of the books have large time gaps in between events - it doesn't bother me.
What does interest me is that people seem to greet Harry as if he's only been gone for 5 minutes rather than a whole year ...
2.I want to know what’s going on with Molly , how do Michael and Charity feel about what happened to her and a million other things about her, do you think we’ll get to know these things in this book ?
I hope we get an update on the Carpenters in this book. I'm especially interested in what's going on with Daniel because I think that he may inherit his father's sword when he's ready
3.The prisoner that rolled his eyes and sighed, he said that he should be there. Who or what do you think he is ? What has he done ?
He seems to be the only one that actually accepts his punishment and thinks he deserves it ... this makes me suspicious. Perhaps it is a ploy for Harry to lower his guard. No idea who or what he is.
4. That was a tight corner Mab put Harry in and it seems she had been altering the messages he had sent to Molly. Something about distrust! Can you guess what she’s done to the messages?
That Mab is so manipulative! She probably made Harry's message sound as if he is doing well and doesn't need any help from Molly
5.Mab had known all along how to stop the parasite temporarily but she had chosen not to anything about it until now that she needs Harry! Do you think the only purpose of the earing is to subdue the parasite or there is more to it?
Perhaps Mab is also using it to keep tabs on Harry and make sure he is fulfilling her end of the bargain with Nicodemus
6. Were you expecting the man in the suit to be Nicodemus ? Mab’s and Nick’s both have hidden agendas in doing this . Can you guess what he’s up to? Nick might play straight until he achieves whatever he’s after and he must know Harry cannot be trusted ,so why Harry?
I think Nicodemus needs Harry's knowledge of the Ways in order to get whatever he needs. He will stab Harry in the back as soon as he gets it.
One thing I do know is that Nicodemus might just regret stealing from the God of the Underworld. Hades is not someone you want to cross!
7.It seems Mab doesn’t like to be called a bitch!!! That was some slap. Harry should have figured out sooner the wording of Mab’s order.
Yes he should have. She gave him enough hints! Even I got it.

Yes, we will meet Hades (I'll be disappointed if we don't). In Greek mythology, Hades has a helmet that makes the wearer invisible. Maybe that is what Nick wants

I always enjoy it when Harry and Michael talk. I just can't seem to recall how Michael knows about Thomas and Ebenezar. I can't remember when it happened. Maybe Uriel told Michael... I don't know if it'll come into play later; would be interesting if it did.

I was surprised that Molly hasn't told her family yet, but I can certainly understand why.
Do you think maybe Michael may have thought that Harry and Molly could have been a couple before the whole Winter Knight thing... That was the only thing I could think of during that section.

The Grail is a holy object, so I'm not really sure what a completely evil person like Nicodemus thinks he can do with it. Somehow I think if he tries to do something with it, the Grail will thwart him.
I wouldn't believe a word that comes out of Deidre's mouth; not sure why she even wasted her time.

Oh goodness, yes. but when has Harry ever let his brain complete a thought before words come tumbling from his mouth! (Wouldn't have him any other way.)
Bigfoot is creepy, scary and can snap anything in two...I don't think there's much more we need to know.

Big WTF there! Odd sort of offspring, but, when has anything really normal happened to Harry?

I think the snowflake can be assoicated with Winter. I think choosing beween Molly and Karrin has been in the cards for a while now, and eventually it may have to happen. I think his subconscious may be trying to warn him to choose wisely lest he something untoward happens.

I'm not liking Butters much either. I think Butters had some rough times and it certainly shows.

Butters has totally gone off the deep end. I guess I resent Butters a little bit because Bob is with him and not Harry. I understand the reason why Bob can't be with Harry...but sheesh, they belong together.
I've finished the book so I know what happens next, but at this point in the book, I couldn't have figured it out. Everything just twists and turns.

The paralysis was caused when he fell out off the ladder outside his burning apartment - or am I remembering wrong?
Guess burning Nicodemus goes against Murphy's sense of justice?

Poor Butters has really had a hard time but I do think he's overreacting about Harry. Harry's always been a little self-absorbed and so busy wallowing in his own guilt that he doesn't pay enough attention to those around him...
Glad Bob has his reserve skull - is this foreshadowing? Is something going to happen to Bob's abode?

I automatically thought that it is because Andi is a werewolf but tried to think if Mister reacted the same way to Billy and Georgia. Can't remember though. If not then perhaps there is something else going on with Andi...

Yes, I think that they did communicate. No idea what Mab has Molly doing but I'm sure we will find out

Lol! I kept thinking to myself the whole time this scene was playing out the JB is going to make all of it a dream. I'm thinking of searching him out and strangling him - what a damn tease!!!
The question is whether the dream is prophetic ... Murphy does seem to have plans for Harry ...

I kind of like Goodman Grey - at least he's honest. I don't think he killed Harvey. He had no reason to lie about that. I also think that the title has something to do with his shapeshifting ability.
Deirdre would not have killed him so cleanly and I don't think any of the other Denarians would have either ... so, that leaves someone unknown as of yet...

@Joann#18 - I agree. JB won't leave Harry paralyzed but I also don't think he's going to be the Winter Knight for much longer either. So there will have to be a solution that involves both issues.
