Melanie Taylor | 13 comments Hey,
can not remember much about this book but the female character is kidnapped by aliens and placed in a zoo for other creatures to look at and I believe they want her to breed with a human man they already have. I can remember how but in the evenings she has her own apartment and i believe she is a nurse or doctor or something and she is brought an alien (i thing he has wings and i thing he has a son too) to heal. She fixes him up and when he wakes he tried to stay away from her. Anyway when she is cleaning him at one point she tried to brush his hair and in the aliens culture that means mating. The rest of the story is about them learning to communicate, fall in love and escape and i believe they end up going back to his home planet. I believe at the end the zoo is destroyed by alien authorities who learn of the zoo as it was illegal to cage other aliens against their will.

What year did you read it?

Aerulan | 1316 comments Haven't read it but this one has a description that sounds similar..Star Crash by Elysa Hendricks has a human woman put in a zoo type situation by winged aliens and kept with a human male she was expected to breed with.

Jon | 5 comments Sounds like something Theodore Sturgeon would write in the mind of Kurt Vonnegut. In Slaughterhouse-Five Billy Pilgrim and Montana Wildhack are placed in a cage in an alien zoo where they have a child.

Was it Nightflyers by George R.R. Martin? If we can get anyone who's read it to confirm the plot points, we can shelve this.

I would bet she meant Nightflyers by Isabel L. Martens the description is way closer than GRRM's book, plus what the OP described is not really his style.
