John Robin (john_robin) | 299 comments Here's a place where we can request reviews for our book from other members of the group.

Reviews are important social proofs for our projects, especially when they come from other authors or noteworthy reviewers. I know personally when I go to an Inkshares project page and see the review column full of positive reviews I am immediately encouraged.

I thought it would be a great idea if in this thread anyone looking for a review could put the link to their chapter page. On the very bottom of the computer screen, there is a "leave a review" option for you to share your thoughts.

If we can add this support to one another I think it would be great.

Anyone wanting to add a review for Blood Dawn, here is the opening chapter:

Paul Robinson (robo3687) | 93 comments I'd love a review or two. I've got an 8 chapter preview to do it from too.

John Robin (john_robin) | 299 comments Paul R. and K.E. -- happy to give you guys a review. I've got it open here and will read soon.

I'd love if you both could give a review to my opening chapter. Thanks Cara & Paul Inman for your review of my opening!

message 7: by Rick (new)

Rick Heinz (crankybolt) | 72 comments Dude, John, I hope your epic fantasy makes it. I LOVE those super long fantasy books.

message 8: by John (new)

John Robin (john_robin) | 299 comments Thanks, Rick! I've got my pikes, my cavalry, my artillery, and my dragon-bombs (reserved for last). If I don't make it, I'll fight a battle worthy of song. (And I will come back from the dead and try again, 'cause really, this is fantasy, where anything is possible!)

p.s. although you didn't post the link here, I'm going to take your comment in this thread as incentive to go and review your opening chapter. In fact, here, I'll request it for you:

Here is R. Heinz' opening chapters -- go and give it a review folks. It's great stuff!

Thanks for the review, and I hope you liked mine :D.

John Robin (john_robin) | 299 comments I've enjoyed reviewing the books here people have requested.

One thought (though this is just a thought), I think it would be good etiquette if you request a review here that you also review the books of others who have posted in this thread. I don't want to make this a standard for the thread, because forcing reviews sometimes is a bad thing, but I know for myself I do try to check everything out. When I review, I focus less on nitpicking (because that stuff gets dealt with in editing) and more on the overall impression the story gives me. It's a great form of social proof for our readers, especially if they can see a review came from another author (plus, you get a link to your page on whatever book your review -- so it's a great way for us to interlink with one another).

C. (cbrennecke) | 170 comments Mod
I'd love a review too and would be happy to review back!

Note - Of the three chapters posted, only two are of the "first three" chapters, the other is most likely chapter 5 or 6.

p.s. - I'll take a look at the books listed in this thread so far and will write at least one review over the weekend.

Dave, there are still so many great authors to get in here, but last I checked we're at 86 -- and I just invited Andrew J. Ainsworth, author of These Old Bones in, so that's 87. Dave, you make a good point and I think it's something for all of us to take on board: please hunt for as many Inkshares authors you can think of and extend the invite here. There are great things happening in this group, and I'm sure there are many authors with projects who don't know about this group just because we haven't connected with them yet. So let's keep it up!

message 16: by E (new)

E (em166) So I've decided to rework my novel into 3rd person, so once I get the first 3 chapters changed, then I'll ask for reviews. It's a daunting task considering my novel is over 80k. I'm going to do it though!

message 17: by Susan (new)

Susan Ranscht | 8 comments Thank you, John, for inviting me. This is such a great idea, I'm happy to review anyone who asks, and I'll get to those who have already posted if I haven't already.

Please review the first 2 chapters of Enhanced and recommend it if you feel it's worthy. I encourage you to read our short "About" section, too. I know I always read them when I visit other author's pages. :)

Question: What do you each feel is the advantage or disadvantage of continuing to add chapters to your page?

message 18: by Byron (new)

Byron | 64 comments Hey everyone, I've just finished updating The Children of the Forest, bringing it up to a much more professional-grade of quality (I dearly hope!)

Here is the link - https://www.inkshares.com/projects/th...

I've received some positive feedback now on my writing for the prologue, but I'm looking for thoughts on the chapters beyond that, in regards especially to the larger ideas at play in the narrative, the characters, and so on. Thanks !

I'm reading your project page right now and loving it.

Byron | 64 comments @Susan Hey Susan, I was just about to grab a copy of your story. Would you be willing to offer your services for my story? I'm looking for a general opinion on how it's shaping up so far. Thanks!

message 22: by Jordan (new)

Jordan Shisler (jor_shisler) | 13 comments I would love to get some reviews on my novel. I've been writing for awhile, but I know I still have a lot of learning to do. So any type of feedback would be great so I can judge how well this is going so far. I may not be able to get to it until later in the week, but I will review both the novels I have already funded, and the ones written by my reviewers. Plus those listed here on the thread. I just won't be able to do it immediately as I have several school related projects that I still need to get to and my own writing to focus on.

message 23: by Byron (new)

Byron | 64 comments @ Jordan I appreciated the review, will be glad to go through and look over your stuff some more and I'll send along thoughts. Are you willing to trade more detailed reviews? I'm looking for some criticism and help in patching any continuity holes, or voice issues. Thanks again !

No problem! You'll just have to give me a little time to work on that. I can go through and start adding some comments in as I reread. I'll try going back through at least the prologue tonight and then work from there.

Katy Farmer | 3 comments I've been working through some of the books in here, and I'm loving everything. I'll never run out of things to read, and I can die happy. I'd love comments on my book, if you have the time and inclination. https://www.inkshares.com/projects/a-...

Happy to take a look, Byron! I know what you mean about backlog. But I'm working my way through all the open tabs,

message 28: by Byron (new)

Byron | 64 comments It's one of those situations where I feel kind of silly complaining about having so many great stories. I'm really blown away by the quality of so many of the submissions!

message 29: by CoRy (new)

CoRy | 28 comments There are a lot of books I have been wanting to review. I will get to them. Things have been in weird transition where I work, but things seem to be steadying. If any of you have the time for a quick review of letters, words, punctuation marks, and possibly the combination of all them: sentences, that would be so cool and I thank you kindly.

I have Chapter 1: https://www.inkshares.com/projects/u-...

Chapter 4: https://www.inkshares.com/projects/u-...

And a little bit of 6: https://www.inkshares.com/projects/u-...

message 30: by Byron (new)

Byron | 64 comments I'm currently updating the chapters I previously posted. They needed serious cleaning, and I think most are in much better shape. Unfortunately, with the contest being so near to ending, I doubt it will make much difference, but any feedback on the updated draft would be nice. I'm honestly just looking for a consensus on whether or not the story is "good or not" at this point.

Hi. I'm an author too. I just added my novel to Goodreads. I just published my first novel and I desperately need reviews. I would be so grateful if anybody reads my novel and writes a review. This is the link:https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...
