S.E. Soldwedel grew up in New York. He received his master's in creative writing from the City College of New York. His journalism degree from Michigan State University came in handy during his career in media with the "New York Post", Hearst Magazines, and "Rolling Stone".

He lives and works in the Bronx, where he teaches English Composition in the CUNY higher education system, writes, and repairs stringed instruments. He has a master's in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages from Lehman College. He teaches ESL and offers interpretation pro bono to Bronxites in need of such services.

I find that, amid that smattering of noted thoughts, I almost always have a springboard for writing. Now, I don't write as often as I'd like (nor as often as I should), but I don't usually find myself "blocked" when it comes to inspiration. I get blocked by things like ennui, or worse, more pernicious states of being. In those cases, the cure is to socialize and/or try to accomplish something. Even a small victory can be rejuvenating.(less)

However, I love non-fiction, too. I haven't written any, but I appreciate the many amazing authors who do. They tell us about our history and we'd do well to learn. We can apply the lessons to our own lives, and our insight into human nature into our fiction.(less)
