Anna Wassenaar | 54 comments Has anyone tried this? The concept of keeping only items that spark joy is intriguing, if perhaps impractical to completely fulfill in daily life. Not having read the book yet, I'm wondering if anyone else has given it a go.

Chris Raap | 3 comments One of the greatest joys that I have is to declutter. A group of friends and I are having a get together just to "non-judgmentally" get rid of clothes/shoes/etc, that don't fit or find attractive on us anymore. The fun of remembering what great times were had in them and knowing that they are going to a good home even if through ultimate donation is a pleasure.

Joyce | 31 comments Wow! I envy you. I'm a hoarder and have clothes that are decades old because I can't bear to part with them. (Lucky to have children grown and gone and closet space!) And papers...I'm always afraid I'll throw away something I then need.

I'm not sure I'm a good candidate for your book, Anna.

Anna Wassenaar | 54 comments Joyce, if your clutter brings you joy, than I think you are keeping the spirit of the book. I think that I could do it, to an extent-especially with clothes and papers. I dont think I could do it with more personal items though. The author starts with less personal things and by the end is going through things that I would never toss, like old photos etc. I dont know how my kids would take it if I started tossing the toys they dont play with. They would say that all of them spark joy, if you asked them, lol.

Donna Bailey | 98 comments The Chris post was actually me....Donna. When I launched Goodreads I thought that I was still signed on but I guess that I was not.

Donna Bailey | 98 comments Donna again...hopefully...signed in correctly since I am posting from home. I find if there is something of sentimental value but no practical use to me can find a good home elsewhere and I take a picture of it so that I can always evoke the memories that I attach to it. When we cleared out my parents house, all I took with me was a fruit bowl and my mom's cedar chest....(and years of memories and pictures). Both of which are of practical use to me and just a glance evokes strong emotions.

Anna Wassenaar | 54 comments Lol Donna-sounds like you already have a good system.

Joyce | 31 comments Donna, you are a stronger woman than I!

Donna Bailey | 98 comments Not sure about stronger but I have a tiny house where somehow things multiply in the night.
