Interestingly, when I read this I was reminded of a 2020 novel, Migrations, which I had loved. Imagine my surprise when I realized it was also by McConaghy! Both beautifully written and provocative.

Lemony Snicket
“With a library it is easier to hope for serendipity than to look for a precise answer.”
Lemony Snicket, When Did You See Her Last?

Neil Gaiman
“Google can bring you back 100,000 answers. A librarian can bring you back the right one.”
Neil Gaiman

Christopher Morley
“Read, every day, something no one else is reading. Think, every day, something no one else is thinking. Do, every day, something no one else would be silly enough to do. It is bad for the mind to be always part of unanimity.”
Christopher Morley

Cornelia Funke
“Stories never really end...even if the books like to pretend they do. Stories always go on. They don't end on the last page, any more than they begin on the first page.”
Cornelia Funke, Inkspell

William Kent Krueger
“The dead are never far from us. They're in our hearts and on our minds and in the end all that separates us from them is a single breath, one final puff of air.”
William Kent Krueger, Ordinary Grace
