Agree, it's good but I'm also think it supposed to be more than good, considering those 5 star reviews that I keep seeing from my friends here in Goodreads. While for me, it's a 4 star reading, so far.

I gave it 3.5, mostly because of the pacing there in the middle seemed really slow to me. I'm hoping the next in the series will improve in that department though since we've gotten most of the stories from the characters now.

I'm beginning chapter 19: so far I'm adoring it ^^ (view spoiler)[it's true, in this section the narration is a bit slower, but I love to see how all the characters' backstories are entertwined with the main quest.
I like them all, but my fav are Kaz, Matthias and Inej... Yeah... 3 out of 6 isn't a great selection... but they're so damaged and haunted that I can't help rooting for them (hide spoiler)]

I gave 5 stars. I agree with you: the digressions makes the middle section slower, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. I loved how their past is part of what they are now and how vividly the Author made us understand her characters showing glimpses of their backstory by the way.

(view spoiler)[I absolutely loved the diversity in the characters, from their backgrounds to their dreams, and how it made them react in different situations. My favorite definitely had to be Inej, and I hate how she's left in such a limbo at the end of the book, and that I now have to wait until September to see if she's okay :( (hide spoiler)]

I'm not sure how i feel about this book I'm reading it in audio and one of the narrators is the same one who does some of Sarah J Mass books and she got on my nerves so much its putting me off this one but i will keep going I'm about 50% done

I'm now wondering if i should have read The Grisha series first i did not realise there was a connection to the 2. I was meant to have read it last month but i had issues getting my books to load so had to skip it.

Gillian, when I read it, I did notice a lot of connections, and I'm glad that the last series was so fresh in my mind because it made me like Six of Crows more! Maybe reading that first would've made it more enjoyable for you, but I guess it's too late now!

I honestly loved it when I read it. I started reading the others series and couldn't bring myself to like them so I was reluctant about this one but I gave it 5 stars I loved every chapter. Maybe seeing the words make a difference? I don't know. I hope you like it more as you get more into it. I personally can't wait for the sequel.

Alright so I'm only to chapter 2. I'm gonna read more asap! I really liked the first chapter but I'm feeling kind of slumpy toward this book. I'll power through though and get into the actual story!!

Page 1-58 because I have some thoughts (view spoiler)[ So I was really into the first chapter with the Grisha being talked about and all the mysterious stuff happening, then had a bit of a lull with the gang stuff. Although now Kaz intrigues me and this heist he's just been offered sounds crazy. I'm not so sure that bringing this Shu guy to these merchant dudes sounds like the most solid of ideas though....I mean, they're experimenting on Grisha indentured servants. Something about that just seems wrong to me, having already read the Grisha Trilogy and knowing how a lot of the other Grisha in Ravka are like....strong willed and I feel like that would be a huge no-no to the Ravkan Grisha. chapter 16 The main characters have very interesting back stories. I like the pace of the story and how they are being introduced to us as the story goes. I can't help but feel for each and every one of them so far.

Yay I'm so glad! I never realized it until now, but the Shadow and Bone series had a much better "beginning" and early on explanation than Six of Crows, but in a way I understand why. Shadow and Bone focused more on the Grisha side of things, so it needed to explain it, and while the background information is helpful to understanding Six of Crows, the story itself isn't completely based on Grisha or have characters who fully understand the Grisha themselves, so doing all the explaining that Shadow and Bone had would've felt semi-useless to the actual plot of Six of Crows. Atleast, that's my thoughts on it :)

There were lots of bits and pieces that were explained in Shadow and Bone that helped. Prior to reading Shadow and bone rather than being able to concentrate on the story i was constantly trying to work out what seemed like random made up words just being thrown in all the time. These words were all in Shadow and Bone where they were explained easily. Reading Six of Crows now it just seems like an easy read. I'm now 50% done and really enjoying it.
