This is a children's book I owned in the 90s. It has a boy who is trying to guess the number of gumballs in a jar. I remember him trying to guess the weight of a blue whale also. On one page he is in an airplane seat with his great dane in the seat next to him and they are going on vacation. I feel like most of the book is just the boys imagination. I also remember the great dane wearing sun glasses. I know this isn't much to go on lol so any help is appreciated!

Were the illustrations colorful, realistic, black and white, cartoony, etc?Anything about the cover?
Part of a series?
They were definitely colorful, almost had maybe a "King of the Hill" look to the characters in a way. I also remember one scene where the page looks striped because the drawing shows a room with shades and light coming in between the blinds. And the dad is asleep in a recliner.
Also not part of a series as far as I can remember, and I don't remember the cover specifically. Although one of those other pictures I mentioned may have been the cover.
