Lea Ann (buntingla) For this challenge you pick 12 titles you'd like to read this year plus two alternates. These can be books you actually own (a good incentive to clear your bookshelf) or titles from your TBR list.

List your titles within a post on this thread and keep up with your progress by editing your post.

Let's read!

Lea Ann (buntingla) Lea Ann's 12+2 Challenge

Okay, I left four books plus two alternates unread at the end of the 2014, so these books (all from my actual bookshelf) are going on my list for 2015:

1. A Tale of Two Cities
2. One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich
3. Pilate's Wife
4. The House of Mirth
5. My Life in France
6. A Voyage to Virginia in 1609: Two Narratives: Strachey's "True Reportory" & Jourdain's Discovery of the Bermudas
7. Surviving Hitler: A Boy in the Nazi Death Camps
8.Motherland
9.Things Fall Apart
10. Up from Slavery
11. Sula
12. Night

Alternates:
The Reader
She Is Me

I started this on another group but found that this was the only thing I was participating in within that group -stretched myself too thin, I think - so I'm transferring this list here, and cutting myself free from the other group.

Trying to clear out my actual bookshelf with this! 2014 list

1. A Boy Named Shel: The Life and Times of Shel Silverstein June 21
2. Wolven Jan. 19
3. The House of Mirth
4. Floors Feb. 4
5. Cannery Row July 1
6. King of the Mild Frontier: An Ill-Advised Autobiography June 11
7. Pilate's Wife
8. A Tale of Two Cities
9. One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich
10. The Thing About Jane Spring June 6
11. Memoirs of a Geisha
12. Feels Like the First Time March 16

alternates:
My Life in France
A Voyage to Virginia in 1609: Two Narratives: Strachey's "True Reportory" & Jourdain's Discovery of the Bermudas

Good job! I just finished one myself. I really need to get to work on this.

Lea Ann (buntingla) I've got 5 read off this list so far. Trying to decide which one to tackle next.

message 8: by Melissa (new)

Melissa I've read 2 and decided I didn't want to read 1 of the 12. I'm half way through my 3rd one.

message 9: by Lea Ann (new)

Lea Ann (buntingla) Thanks, Angela. I can't take credit for it. I copied it from another group. I liked the idea of committing to particular books.

message 10: by Lea Ann (new)

Lea Ann (buntingla) I got Cannery Row off my list. I have some heavy reading coming up now.

message 11: by Melissa (new)

Melissa finished The Complete Tales and Poems of Winnie-the-PoohI can't believe I never read them when I was younger

Who doesn't love Pooh bear and Piglet. Although Eeyore was always my favorite.

message 12: by Melissa (new)

Melissa i tried reading Day of the Deadand I just can't get into it so I am going to skip it. Good thing I have 2 alternate books.

Melissa Ava My Story by Ava Gardner
I liked how this book was written, it felt more like having a conversation with Mrs Gardner than just reading about her life. It did bog down in places when she described every movie and everyone in it but when she was focused on her personal life and her marriages it was really interesting.

Melissa 7 down!

Melissa 8 finished!

Lea Ann (buntingla) Four books in two weeks...can I do it?

message 17: by Lea Ann (new)

Lea Ann (buntingla) Yeah, I didn't make it, but hope springs eternal, so I've set up my 12+2 list again this year.

message 18: by Lea Ann (new)

Lea Ann (buntingla) So glad I left my list here. The other group I had it posted in seems to have been deleted. :(
