Do you like Coelho? The premise of this was very interesting but I don't know if he pulled it off for me, would be interested to see your review.

Me too!! I loved the beginning, I felt it lost steam at about the half way point, but it's picking up again.

Great idea! I've done a little of that kind of grouping (books about India at or near her independence from the UK), and it really does add to the historical experience.

Eve B. (partyp) | 4 comments I'm started The Sound and the Fury - William Faulkner on Monday. I am 15% done and enjoying it.

I put Blind Man with a Pistol - Chester Himes aside as it began to bore me. I plan to pick it back up though.

message 5539: by Lisa (new)

Lisa James (sthwnd) | 352 comments I am just beginning Catcher in the Rye-so far Holden Caulfield reminds me a LOT of my oldest son Paul, who dropped out of high school, even though he did go back & get his GED. Holden makes me want to grab him by the collar & SHAKE him till his lazy teeth RATTLE!!!! I HOPE this book gets better. So far he doesn't seem to have ANY redeeming qualities. He's lazy, sullen, makes excuses for things he's done, not to mention just plain rude & disrespectful...
