"I was just wanting to learn some more without you maybe feeling uncomfortable" he said with a smile. "So how did you find the school?" he asked curious about that.
"It's been nice." she said. "I've learned alot about my powers from some of the teachers, and even though I'm still really bad at controlling it, it's been helpful." She smiled and said, "And, don't worry, you're not making me uncomfortable at all."
"Thats good and so is the your being comfortable" he said with a smile and thought of another question. "So if you turn into a cat, do you still have your human thoughts in that form?"
"Yes, mostly. One time it was so bad that I couldn't remember anything of what had happened when I shifted back again. But normally I can still think like a human, although with the added instincts of a cat." she said.
"Sounds like the first time I turn into the ice elemental" he said with a taking his hat off and scratching his head. "You have anything you want to ask?" he asked wondering if anything had come to her mind.
"Yeah, what happens to your mind when you turn all...icy?" she asked. "And do you feel cold when it happens?"
"More like safe and stronger but a bit of the strong chill you get from adrenaline, I think I am colder all the time anyway" he said shrugging at that.((SOrry was moving a charrie))
River nodded, remembering how his skin had felt colder than normal when she had touched his arm."So are you good at controlling it?" she asked, "Or did it take awhile for you to learn?"
" it took quite a while go have this control" he said with an shrug and fidgeted with the brim of his hat
"Well," she said, "I can totally understand." She watched him play with the brim of his hat, and wondered if all the questions were making him uncomfortable.
"Alone." she said. "I was brought up in the foster system, going from one orphanage to another because no one wanted me." She sighed, then continued, "I have no idea who my parents are. And when my powers began to manifest, I had to choose between running away or becoming a lab experiment. I chose the former, obviously."
"Obviously" he responded to the running decision. "At least one person wants your company now" he said with a smile with his eyes glinting like ice.
River smiled and felt her heart twinge. She quickly asked, "So, if you don't mind my asking, what was your childhood like?"
Boreas liked her smile, it was one of those innocent ones you rarely see anymore. "Oh well fine until Felicity got kidnapped and I chased leads for two years" he answered like it wasn't a big deal for him.
"I didn't she got back to our family then sent here" he said with a sigh as he failed at that and it haunted him.
River could see the haunted look in his eyes, and she felt for him. She reached out and put her hand on his arm again. "But she's safe now, so it's okay, right?" she said.
"Yes well now she demands attention constantly and it is taxing" he said with a sigh and looked to her with a grin again.
River laughed. "I bet it's taxing. Not that I would know, as I never had any siblings, but still..."
"Both lucky and not but at least you are free company" he said with a chuckle at her laugh because it was a good sound.
"Awwww, thanks." she replied, and grinned. This was so fun, just talking and laughing together. And the fact that it was with Boreas made it even better. River thought back, trying to remember the last time she had had this much fun with someone. She couldn't remember.
"I went out on my own to find Felicity but they were fine last I checked" he said with a shrug and tucked his hands in his pocket.
"Oh," she said. He had the air of not caring, as if his parents hadn't been a big part of his life. She decided not to pry, seeing as she didn't exactly have much experience in the whole "parents" thing.
"I can't think of anything at the moment, but I'll let you know." she said with a grin. "What about you? Anything else you want to know about my past?"
"Just your the first girl who has interested me" he said with a smile thinking that was a big thing.
River blushed and felt her heart jump. Then she said quietly, "Yeah, well I could say the same for you. You are the nicest guy I've ever met..." she trailed off and glanced up at him through her eyelashes, unsure how he would react.
"Interesting, I am usually called a goof who can never take anything seriously but..." he said leaning forward and kissing her cheek. "Thank you River" he said with a smile.
River laughed softly. "Well, for the record, I like it when you're being funny." she said, "It's what made me like you from the start." When he kissed her, she suddenly felt all light and airy. It was a nice feeling. She liked it.
"I suppose I react to my problems in the opposite way; by closing myself off from anyone and anything." she said. "It's nice to open up about it." She could still feel the imprint of his kiss on her cheek, and it made her happy.
"Yes, many forget we by nature crave company and affection" he said smiling as he knew she was remembering the kiss and probably wanted another.
"Yeah, that's true." she said. "I suppose that's what has been missing from my life up until now. Growing up in an orphanage doesn't provide you with either of those things."She couldn't help hoping that she wouldn't have to be alone anymore, but didn't say anything, because she didn't want Boreas to feel obligated to be nice to her.
She also sort of wished he would kiss her again, but shoved that thought away quickly, blushing slightly.
