Horror Aficionados discussion
Introduce Yourself!
Hi All,I'm D. Michael Hope, and I'm an audiobook narrator. I've been a horror fiction fan forever and have a few horror books I've narrated.

The funny thing is - I don't get scared, ever!
I write, I've just published an ebook recently (it's on pre-order now, but it will be out on October 21st) and while I ..."
I come across the same thing with readers finding my work a bit horrifying or nightmarish, but it never affects me that way. The same goes for me reading other great horror books or watching movies. I'm generally the one in the theater laughing as the people beside me cover their eyes.
Not to mention, in a majority of my stories, the humans/protagonist doesn't always win. Score 1 for the Creature.
Hey all,I'm on a mission to find my genre, both as a reader and a writer. I've been working on romance recently, but it's starting to bore the hell out of me. So I thought back to my childhood reading. I remember sitting up late at night trying to finish Cujo by Stephen King. I read so many of his books and could never put them down.
So thought I'd give horror a go. I'm currently reading the House Mates by Iain Wright and am throughly enjoying it. Looking forward to getting stuck in to horror!
Thanks
Barry
Hi y'all,I'm Zach. I'm a librarian and sf/f/h author who's got a few short stories and a satirical novel (To Another Abyss!) to my name thusfar. I try to read broadly for reader advisory purposes at work, but my personal reading interests have been leaning more and more towards weird horror and bizarro in recent years.
While I'm interested in general discussion and networking with other horror readers & writers, I've primarily joined to find different ways to get the word out about books I've enjoyed since Amazon seems to be blocking me from posting reviews for authors I follow on social media. :/
Hi, My name is Terence Simmons. I am an EXTREMELY passionate horror enthusiast and writer! Thanks, Char for guiding me to this awesome group!
Latasha wrote: "welcome to HA Zach! sorry, I have no idea how to help with that problem :("Thanks! It's apparently a common enough phenomenon that there are a handful of posts out there complaining about it, and the vague definitions Amazon uses to catch people. Nobody else knows what to do about it, so eh, guess I'll just put my unlawful opinions on other sites.
Welcome, Barry, Zach and Terence! Its a great month to be an Aficionado! Of course, it's always a great time to be a member of HA :)
Welcome new Aficionados!
@Zach: I'm currently going through the same thing with Amazon, myself....

Hi everyone! I'm Danielle. I'm from Tennessee. I love horror of all kinds! Movies, books, art, all of it. I'm looking forward to chatting with you all. :D
I'm a horror author looking for a new crush. I've read the likely suspects but looking for someone new who I can't put down.
It's so cool that there are so many women in this group. I can't get my wife to read my work. Horror just isn't her thing.
Hi everyone, my name is Joe, avid reader and horror enthusiast, I’d love recomendations for your favorite horror authors.

And I forgot to name a bunch, but that should be good for starters ;)
Hey guys!Been a horror fan since the video (VHS -- man I'm old) store packaged Evil Dead instead of Raiders of the Lost Ark in the rental box. Thanks to them I haven't shifted my luggage from the Horror Hotel since.
Although my horror reading and watching doesn't include many 'new' releases out there (as in the words of Shaun Hutson, "Horror's become to nice"), it's the one genre I can't turn my back on, unlike my love-hate-hate-God, not you again relationship with Sci-Fi.
Chuck me a little Dark Ambient, a slice of Campbell, Herbert, early Barker or Hutson and I'm as happy as a psychotic hog frying bacon.
Keep in the shadows, and don't scare old ladies...they have detachable teeth that can be used as throwing stars. Hope to talk to you all soon.
Alex

I'm Terry and I've been a fan of horror for as long as I can remember. I've searched the web for days looking for a group that have interest similar to mine and this one seemed more welcoming. I look forward to learning and sharing with fellow members as I'm certain that I have not experienced everything horror has to offer. Thank you so much for having me on board.
