I love can such things be, his ghost story collection.
Hi there, I'm not a writer but a hobby connoisseur of horror movies. We have an annual October horror movie marathon at our house, with at least one (but most of the time up to 3) horror movies each day of the month.I started a study about 4 years ago, looking at demographics and stereotypes used in these films and counting who gets killed and who turns evil. It was inspired by the Scream theory myths, we wanted to know if they were actually true. So now we have a growing database of what demographics are represented more often, who tends to die. Could blab for hours about this, because i (obviously!) find this fascinating!
For books, my favorites include mostly classics like Ramsey Campbell, Poe, Lovecraft, King, Barker, but I'm not that familiar with lesser known authors and am looking forward to test the field a bit.

Welcome Conny. Have you read Robert McCammon?

Hey all. I'm Angela from Oregon. I'm a long time horror fan; my love for it started the first time I watched Night of the Living Dead (I was 6 and snuck out of my room to watch it).
Welcome Angela! (For me, it was CHILDREN SHOULDN'T PLAY WITH DEAD THINGS, at age 4 or 5--but my mother actually put it on for me. BIG Halloween fans. :) )
Welcome, Angela! Glad you are here! My parents let me watch The Omen when I was 7 or 8. They didn't preview it first and I was traumatized. That movie still freaks me out.
Hi, everyone! I'm a newbie when it comes to horror actually, because I'm a scaredy cat! :3 A video game, Bloodborne, has its lore heavily based on HP Lovecraft's works and that's what got me into the horror genre. Nowadays I listen to horror audio dramas and find myself checking out the horror section when at the library. But I'm still a scaredy cat. I'm fine with reading and listening to horror, but watching it...? No thanks! :P
Welcome Midlight! You should check out the audiobook for NOS4A2, one of my top 5 audiobooks ever. It's awesome.
Thanks for the rec, Latasha! I checked it out and the summary on GoodReads didn't really catch my interest, but from reading the reviews on Amazon, it sounds a lot more interesting! I'm putting it on my to-read list. :)

With your list of authors that you enjoy, McCammon is one that you should definitely add. I highly recommend Boy's Life
, Swan Song
, The Wolf's Hour
and Usher's Passing

From the description of Usher's Passing it sounds like there are a few references to the classic horror short stories there, definitely a further add to the to read list.
Wow, thanks all for the many suggestions so far, got to get cracking with finishing my current read to get started with the new ones.
OK, I should finally do this.My name is David and I am Horroraholic. (Hi, David)
I'm a music professor in Georgia and grew up in a funeral home in Missouri. Yes, you read that right.
My parents were funeral directors and we lived on the second floor of the home. I cannot help thinking that this is at least partially responsible for my lifelong love of the scary stuff.
I am most terrified by stories/novels/movies involving ghosts and couldn't pick a favorite horror author if I tried (although I'm no fan of Dean Koontz). I'm always open to suggestions, so please send them to me.
Thanks for reading - see you around the forum.

Welcome
I am Andrew, a retired Chartered Accountant living in Gloucestershire in the UK. I first started reading horror fiction when I was at school and discovered the Pan and Fontana horror anthologies. My main interests these days are Victorian ghost stories, weird fiction and psychological horror stories.
I also read science fiction and fantasy, literary fiction, music and history books.
I am looking forward to revisiting old favourites and discovering new reads with this group.

Hello there,You can call me C.C. I'm a big fan of the spooky/gothic stories of old--both in film and literature. I am little newer to reading modern horror, as someone with an overactive imagination, I was on the fence for a few years. So far, though, I am having a blast.
I'm also an aspiring writer of all things spooky so I figure I'd check this group out and see what else is out there!
