Hello, I am Ageless and I write fiction and I like to read it, so I am looking for books to read and share
Hi, all! I've been a fan of the horror genre for a long time now, and I'm always looking for new things to read. (I read in a lot of genres; SF, mystery, horror and thrillers are my main ones.) I'm also looking for discussion of things I'm interested in reading. Last horror I read was REVIVAL by King (if you can call it horror) and probably BLIND EYE by William Malmborg (again, maybe more of a thriller). Looking forward to reading the posts in this group! Oh yeah, I write horror, among other things, too. Please to meet you all!
Earl wrote: "Hi Nicole! What's your favorite zombie novel? I'm looking to read one lately."Earl, I'm not Nicole but I've been reading Bobby Adair's SLOW BURN series and they're pretty interesting, a bit of a different take on the zombie stuff. Tracy Sharp's INTRUDERS was pretty good, too. Amanda Hocking's HOLLOWLAND series was fun also.
Scott,Cool, I actually have some Slow Burn books on my Kindle---part of a free giveaway. They seem to be very popular. I've been putting off reading them, but now I'll move them up a few places on my list!
Hey there. Longtime (but on and off) horror reader/watcher (and even sometimes writer) here. Jumped in yesterday, just trying to settle in. I won't rattle off titles or anything; you can check out my profile if you like. If you corner me, my favorite horror writer would be Matheson (though Lovecraft looms large, even though I'm ambivalent about a lot of what marks his work.) Film? Romero/Cronenberg/Carpenter. Don't make me choose.
Pardon the repost (if there are duplicate members); I used this when joining anothe group... Hi, Some call me... Tim (shoots explosives from his staff for no apparent reason). I am new and somewhat feeble in the land of Goodreads. I have dabbled with writing horror for the past twenty-something years, having published my first short story in Peter Straub's GHOSTS anthology in the 1990s. I read a wide variety of stuff, but mostly horror. I was nurtured on early King novels at a tender age. I graduated from Georgia College in Milledgeville (Flannery O'Connor's alma mater), and also have a passion for southern fiction--O'Connor and Capote specifically. My husband doesn't read. I know--SHOCK! So it will be nice to talk to people who do. I have been reading old threads and I'm looking forward to contributing. Thanks!... Afterward: I saw Matt's post and wanted to say that I worship Richard Matheson, and the novel I am revising now is a homage to one of his.
Favorite Lovecraft? Probably MOUNTAINS OF MADNESS and SHADOW OUT OF TIME where he really embraced the science fictional aspects of things. I know that some people really don't like these because they're not the same flavor of cosmic horror, but the fact that we think we know something leads us to find out that we really don't at all.
Those are great ones indeed. I also loved The Colour Out of Space. Been a while since I've read any of these though--I really need to do a refresher. Did you ever read Steven King's Lovecraft-inspired short stories? I think his story "N" qualified as a Lovecraft homage and, in my humble opinion, it was one of the best things King has written in the decade (King's short stories are usually pretty great anyway--can't wait for the new collection!).
King's better in shorts, and his love of/borrowing from HPL is pretty well documented as far back as the NIGHT SHIFT collection (which I read when I was maybe 11?)
New to the group. Lover and writer of horror and other assorted depravity. Looking forward to the discussions.
Hi my name is is Greg LeapingBear. I've loved books all my life, especially horror and thrillers. I love scary movies too.
I should introduce myself, too. I grew up on horror. I was reading Stephen King and James Herbert by the time I was thirteen (and I turned out just fine!). Horror is still my favourite genre, although I like a bit of fantasy too. I have recently published my debut horror novel.I look forward to chatting with you all about the horror genre and specifically books.
Hello! I am Chantelle from Canada. I travel constantly and have made feature length horror films.I consider myself a zombie expert ( I lecture on zombies).
I am always searching for literary horror!

Hi everyone,I'm Alex from the Bibliophile land of Portland, OR. Excited to be a part of this group! I love reading anything related to the devil, exorcisms, supernatural, evil energy or fast paced, plot-driven horror fiction that require Depends to finish. If you have any recommendations I'd love to hear! Currently writing my own horror novel at the moment. Looking forward to reading Necroscope. This will be my first group read :)
Hello all, I'm Ben, a librarian and horror nerd from the UK. I'm also a new member of the Extreme Horror group so I apologise if I cross-post when I'm excited about new books or authors I have read.
I've been a horror reader/fan since getting Pet Sematary for xmas way back in 1990. I try to read a broad range of authors but do have my favourites including Richard Laymon, Graham Masterton and Clive Barker. More recently I've been reading splatterpunk/extreme horror authors Jack Ketchum, Edward Lee and Carlton Mellick III(not strictly horror but still fun!). I'm looking for somewhere to get recommendations from other fans and help people look for their next book to read.
