Horror Aficionados discussion
Introduce Yourself!
Hi! Just stumbled on this group after it was mentioned on a review. Glad to be here! I'm a life long horror fan and got back into reading last year after a few years break for various reasons. I read more than ever now. Would love to chat all things horror and make some new book friends.

I quite enjoyed Slewfoot, but yes definitely more atmospheric than scary.
Hi there! I’m Jacob and I’m trying to get into some horror-focused groups to maybe find some people to yap it up with about stories that I love! I’ve finally gotten myself back to reading consistently and it’s feeling wonderful. I’ve read about 18 novels this year so far and loads of them have been horror-related. I’m definitely huge into creature features but cosmic horror is something I’m really wanting to find more of in my reading going forward.
Hi fellow horror lovers! My name is Serena and I'm perpetually late to social media and online stuff so I finally joined Goodreads this year, and just discovered groups this week! I am opening a bookstore (starting as a pop-up) this September and plan to shine a spotlight on horror, which often gets looked over. I am excited to discover some new authors, thanks for all the organizing!
Hi, I’m Todd Rohrer. I write paranormal non-fiction—material that often delves so deeply into the metaphysical and psychological ruptures of lived experience that it ends up more disturbing than most traditional horror fiction. My work explores real events and altered states from a ghost-state perspective—confronting death, recursion, spiritual dissociation, and systemic possession. It’s not always an easy read, and honestly, it may be too dark for some horror readers, especially those expecting safe distance or narrative closure.
That said, I’m not here to preach. I’m here to learn—from writers, readers, and horror architects who understand what it means to shape fear into meaning. I want to sharpen my approach, connect with others in the horror genre, and refine the edge of my niche.
Looking forward to reading your work—and maybe even swapping a few stories along the way.
Joined Goodreads earlier this year and I’m Sailakshmi. I love watching horror/thriller movies and I started reading them as well. Just read The Shining and Doctor Sleep. Excited to read more such books. (Not Doctor Sleep though😒).

You picked the right group to do that, Serena. My horror TBR exploded once I discovered HA. My life, and wallet, were never the same again.

Hello! welcome to HA! i love vampires too.
Hi all,My name is Mat and this is pretty much my first post here.
I love a bit of horror (so much so that I have just self published my own!)
Particularly enjoy a bit of Stephen King, but also like finding new and unknown authors.
@Dominque: Welcome to the family! It's an awesome group, and I look forward to discussing horror with you :-)
@Mat: Welcome, and very cool! King is my all-time favorite author, and I found many other great horror authors thanks to this wonderful group. Enjoy :-)
Hello all,I go by Nthmetal here and on some other platforms, and just toay joined here.
"Thanks" to burnout, I found back to my love of reading, and especially I have a thing for horror of the weirder type, cosmic horror and stories that border on weird fiction. Even during stressful work times, my love for fiction never let down, following podcasts such as The Magnus Archives, Acephale, Knifepoint Horror and the Silt Verses to name just a few.
Hopefully we can share some inspirations, looking forward to joining discussions in the group :)
hello...started out in my youth reading King...then about 10 or so years ago starting branching out to Koontz,Saul, Straub....but somewhere along the way i started branching out and started exploring all sorts of horror authors old and new...my collection numbers about 500 books(probably loose change to a lot of you) and my TBR pile is extremely large.in addition to novels i started buying a ton of anthologies...the Datlow,Jones, and Guran stuff plus others...which in turn introduce me to even more new authors i like..i read as often as i can but as i look at the books i havent read im seriously starting to wonder if i'll ever actually get to them all as i continue to buy books..amazon gift cards, thrift shops, used bookstores , and library sales have been a godsend.just found a nice copy of The Exorcist a few days ago for 50 cents!anyhow, good to be here

Hello My name is Roxie but I go by Goose go Honk on good reads (I’m quite obsessed with geese).
I have been into horror ever since I was in my early teens. I first started off reading Shaun Hutson Slugs back in 2010 which pointed me towards John Halkin’s, Guy N Smith’s Brain Keene and many other horror authors works. I have also started to dip my toes into extreme horror and splatterpunk for the past two years. I have a big thing for slasher books or serial killer based ones. I spend a lot of my time collecting 60’s to early 90’s first print horror books my prize item in my collection is Chainsaw Terror by Shaun Hutson (his book that got banned in the 1984). I have never been a part of a reading community but always wanted to find one so anyway hello everyone.
@Roxie: Welcome! You came to a wonderful place, and hell yeah! I love Brian Keene. I recently read THE COMPLEX, and that was such an amazing read!
hi, i’m viscera! love everything horror and spooky, whether movies, novels, video games, etc. looking to make some scream queen friends and overall talk scares! xx
Hi everybody. Having recently published my first novel, I thought it a good idea to join Goodreads, and while trying to find my way around, I stumbled across this wonderfully ghoulish corner of the internet!I love classic horror, especially traditional ghost stories, and have read many short stories, ranging from The Monkey's Paw to At the Mountains of Madness (I know it's a novella, but I've placed it in my headcanon of short stories).
Michelle Paver's Dark Matter is one of my favourite novels, and having read it in the depths of winter, I found it very affecting.
I was also recently (within the last two years) introduced to James Herbert, and he's become one of my top horror authors.
When it comes to films, I love me some good old monster horror. Being a gamer, I also love slow-paced horror games with stalker enemies, like Alien: Isolation (which is the platinum I'm most proud of), and I am currently playing Amnesia: The Bunker.
Hi, I'm Mel. I'm getting back into reading after a long hiatus, and horror novels are what made me fall in love with reading again. Excited to discover new scares!!
