New to goodreads, signed up but never really got into it. I have swapped reading for writing for the last few months, finishing a story I started a long time ago. I am almost done so now am searching for information on thriller/horror fiction. Scary putting this out there but I'm old so what the heck do I have to lose haha. I do have a question if anyone could point me in the right direction. I have two options for a back cover blurb I am considering. Where is a good place on this site to post both for feedback on which would be more engaging? Is that even something I can do? Thank you for indulging me. These community forums are daunting. TC

I'm Biale, a writer from Sweden. It's a pen name, mostly because the version of me who writes strange emotional stories isn't always the same one who folds laundry and answers emails on time.

Free time? What's that? But when I do find a moment, I’m usually writing, reading, or caught up in family life. That might mean building a chaotic blanket fort or having a deep late-night chat about life at the kitchen table.

I’m a sci-fi nerd through and through. Asimov shaped how I think. I’ve always loved stories that bend reality just enough to reveal something true about being human.

I think the scariest stories are the ones where love won’t let go, even when everything else is gone. I once outlined an entire novel on café napkins because the world in my head refused to wait.

Would I survive in the kind of stories I write? I hope so. If not, I’d at least go down swinging with a flashlight, a notebook, and someone worth protecting.

Hello everyone. My name is Pavel Kozlov and I am an aspiring horror writer. In my everyday life I am a regular working guy - a mechanic by trade - but in my free time I like to dive into the world of fear, paranoia and the unknown.

I like to mix horror with other genres such as psychological thrillers, techno horror and sci-fi. For me the best kind of horror is not just blood and jump scares, it is a slow, creeping horror that gets under your skin and stays with you.

My favorite horror master is, of course, H.P. Lovecraft. His universe of cosmic horror and existential dread has become a huge inspiration for me. At the same time, I try not to imitate his style - I know that I will never be able to compare with the master himself. Instead, I work on finding my own voice, my own taste of horror.

I'm excited to join this group and hope to discover some amazing books and meet people who share my love for the genre.

Hello all, my name's Ruben and I have loved being afraid ever since I peeked at a book that my older sister checked out from the library.

We shared a room when I was in elementary and I distinctly remember picking up something I kicked on the floor when I was coming in (neither of us kept our room very clean). It was a well-loved book that had the most ominous black font on the cover, floating above what looked like a hill with a giant head poking out of it that was also smoking a pipe.

I opened it and read a story or two and cautiously flipped through the pages to look at the gruesome art before I had to put it back down. I remember the electric shock that would run up my spine and tickle my shoulders whenever I saw it in the library afterward, like it was leering at me from between the other books.

Now I love scary stories of all kinds, even though they don't scare me like they did when I was six. The real world is more frightening than any book.

Anyway, I look forward to hearing from you all and I hope you have a good rest of your day.

I like some writers I don't hear about anymore: Richard Matheson, a splatter-punk guy, Richard Laymon. One of my favorites is the Homing by Jeffery Campbell. If you like old Twilight Zone, you might love this.

I like Sci-fi and horror, mostly. I've been through all of Stephen King and find him either great, or crummy. Great? The Gunslinger. Crappy? Dr. Sleep. IMO.

The Cipher by Kathy Koja, The King in Yellow by Robert W. Chambers, Annihilation by Jeff VanderMeer, The Cellar-Laymon, The Laundry Files series by Charles Stross.
