Hi, I'm Jennifer. I joined GR a long time ago but didn't explore enough then. I'm hoping to get book recs and maybe some podcast recs too, if that's discussed here.I'm a lifelong horror reader, my favorites being Graham-Jones, Grady Hendrix, Poe and the creepy shorts of Ambrose Bierce.
I also love the non-fiction spooky history and travel of JW Ocker and Kate Winkler-Dawson.
I have a weekly horror/Halloween Substack of creepy subjects, spooky travel, book reviews and cocktails called Autumn Lives Here that's a lot of fun.
I happy to be back and I hope I'll be more vocal this time.

Welcome Jennifer
Got into horror lit last October appropriately enough, had an ex-girlfriend who was big into it and inspired me to read through some of the Stephen King classics I never got around to when I was younger. Definitely been enjoying a lot of his stuff and branching out into more classic and contemporary horror.I'm loving horror the most when it's completely off the wall insane. The book I'm most excited for in my King readthrough is honestly The Tommyknockers, everything I've heard about it is absurd and reflective of King's powder habit. Diving into Clive Barker right now, the first Book of Blood is really scratching that itch. Other than that, I do enjoy more subtle and dreary psychological horror (please recommend anything that can capture a Silent Hill/Jacob's Ladder vibe) and any mean, nasty, brutish horror a la King's early story collections.
Authors and books I've got lined up for the future:
Lovecraft (obviously)
M. Gira's The Consumer
Dracula
Nick Cutter
Paul Tremblay
WP Blatty's Exorcist books (Exorcist 3 one of the most underrated horror movies ever)

nice list of books
@KKinley That's a good list and you are 100% correct about Excorcist 3.If you are looking for off the wall horror, I highly recommend the works of David Sodergren.
Hello, Deanna here! I have always been a spooky kid and into the macabre, and like to think of myself as a lifelong reader! While I read across many different genres Horror/Thriller always has a special place in the lump of coal in my chest aka my heart. I particularly have enjoyed gothic and cosmic horror such as Poe, King, Rice, A.M Shine, LaRoux, Lovecraft, Nickle, Stiles, etc!Although my TBR is crying I am always looking for new recommendations! Can't wait!
Hey all! I love horror - something about the way it's written thrills me, especially when you have the freedom to visualize it via books. Looking forward to reading more and making more connections!
Welcome to HA, Deanna & Jinie! You'll find no shortage of recommendations here, and we're always looking for new authors!

I didn't get back into him until he wrote Joyland. I am so glad I came back! I absolutely loved The Outsider, Revival, The Institute, and Billy Summers

Hey Y'all, I'm Avery - been into horror since I was REALLY young with goosebumps and stuff - and now I've graduated onto Nick Cutter, Paul Tremblay, Grady Hendrix, Stephen King, and a bunch of other awesome horror authors. My main favorite genre is Horror and its what I mainly like to talk about. I'm 25, living in California with some pet tarantulas and I'm always happy to fall asleep to a horror movie. Planning on seeing cobwebs tonight!
